dead? me? nahhhhhh
I'm just- uh- waiting a super long time between chapters so that the dramatic tension builds
definitely not cause of writer's block :)

Y/n finds herself once again spinning aimlessly in a swivel chair. However, rather than her own chair, it's one of Wilbur's spares. He's sitting in his own chair at a desk nearby with a pencil in hand as he writes riffs on paper. They were going out to a movie later, but he had wanted to finish some things first, so now they were just hanging out in the same room.
Y/n is scrolling through Twitter when she hears Wilbur's phone ringing. He looks up as well and picks up his phone, which is beside his notebook on his desk.
"I'll be right back," He smiles at her before walking out of the room.
Meanwhile, Y/n goes back to spinning for a little while until she hears him curse loudly in the other room.
"Wilbur?" She calls, to which she receives no response. Her spinning stops as she gets up to see what was wrong. Upon leaving the office, she finds him pacing back and force in an obvious agitated manner. It was a complete flip from what his mood had just been. "Wilbur- hey what's wrong?"
"It's fine!" He snaps sharply before letting out a heavy sigh. "I-I'm sorry,"
"What happened?" Y/n asks softly while walking over to him.
"The record label just gave up on our song," Wilbur returns to his pacing. "We need to find another one before we can release the next album but I don't know if there's gonna be enough time to do that if we want to release it on time and-"
"Okay, slow down a little," She grabs his wrist gently, making him stop from his pacing. Wilbur seems to calm down for a minute before remembering something.
"I need to call the others," He glances back down at his phone again, as if not hearing her.
"Wil-"
"Please Y/n, I'll be right back. I just need to tell the rest of the band," After shooting her an apologetic glance, Wilbur hurries back into his office again.
By "right back", he meant almost an hour. Y/n leaves him alone in that time and waits out on the living room couch for him to finish whatever phone call he was on. A few times she debated on going in, but ultimately decided that it wouldn't be the best idea.

Luckily he comes back out at last. Wilbur sits down on the couch beside her, obviously forcing the smile on his face as he does.
"Everything okay...?" She asks softly.
"It could be better..." He admits. "B-But things will be fine! We can probably still catch the movie if we hurry-"
Y/n cuts him off by leaning over to him and giving him a tight hug. "How about we just watch something here...? We can find something on Netflix if you want,"
Wilbur relaxes at her touch. His arms slowly embrace her in return. "Okay...thank you..."
"Good. I'll make popcorn," She lets go of him to go do just that, but he doesn't do the same. "Wil?"
"Just a minute..." He mumbles while laying his head down on her shoulder.
"Okay," Y/n hums softly and stays where she is.
And I thought Tommy could be clingy...
Wilbur holds her for several more minutes. Neither of them say anything, but there was no need to. Plus the silence in the air was comfortable.
"Okay...let me up..." She finally murmurs.
"No..."
"Wil I'm going to fall asleep...let me go make popcorn..."
"No it's cold come back-" Wilbur whines as she squirms out of his arms.
"Pick something to watch, it's only gonna take a minute, I promise," Y/n tells him while stretching a little.
"Fine...whatever," He mumbles.
She blows a raspberry at him before going to the kitchen to make popcorn. It takes her a couple of minutes to return again with a large bowl filled with the stuff.
"What are we watching?" She asks while returning to her spot beside him. "And please don't make a 'your mom' joke,"
"We're watching Umbrella Academy," Wilbur tells her.
Y/n gasps slightly. "I love that show!"
He smiles at her and presses 'play'.
-
"LEONARD NO! HOW COULD YOU?!" Y/n blurts out.
"Haven't you seen this show before?" Wilbur asks with an amused smirk.
"YES BUT STILL!" She grabs his arm and shakes him a bit. "HOW COULD HE?!"
He laughs at her small outburst before shushing her. "Wait-! This is the good part!"
Y/n falls silent, but continues hugging his arm afterward.
Several hours pass of television bingeing, and both of them fall asleep on the couch. Y/n remembers Wilbur going to sleep first because his head had nodded off. At that point she had been halfway asleep as well, so it hadn't taken her long to drift off along with him.

When she wakes up early the following morning, Y/n finds that she's laying partially on top of him. Her head is resting on his his upper chest and one of her arms is draped over his torso. Wilbur, in turn, has an arm wrapped around her waist, which seemed to be the only thing preventing her from rolling off of the edge of the couch.
Her half-asleep mind doesn't process the physical closeness between them, only that her phone was vibrating on the coffee table nearby. She lazily reaches over and grabs it, not caring to check who was bothering her so early before answering.
"Hello...?" Y/n murmurs almost too quietly to hear.
"Did I wake you up again?" Tommy asks. "Oops..."
"What is it Tommy...?"
"Uh- so I've been talking to mum and I've decided that I want to move to Brighton, and I need a place to stay while I look for a flat," He explains. "So can I move in with you for a little while?"
"Mhm...sure..." Y/n responds groggily. "I'll set the cot up again..."
"Hell yeah! Thanks Y/n!" He says loudly, prompting her to abruptly hang up on him before he can blow her eardrums out.
She puts her phone back on the coffee table - or at least she tries to. It ends up falling onto the floor after she completely misses the surface.
Y/n ignores it and snuggles back up against Wilbur again.
"Who was that...?" Wilbur's voice is barely intelligible to her.
"The child..." She replies. "It was nothing..."
He hums softly, his arm gripping her waist tighter as it moves her closer to him. His free hand pats the back of the couch until it finds a blanket there to pull over them both, even though it was a bit late for that.
Y/n isn't thinking about why or how this was happening, only that she felt safe and warm where she was. She forgets completely that any of her problems or issues existed. All she cared about was falling asleep again...which she does within a couple of minutes.
But when she wakes up again, she finds herself alone again on the couch, making her wonder if the warm feeling that she had felt was merely just a dream of some kind.
The blanket she finds herself wrapped in, however, provides a filler-feeling of warmth that makes her want to stay in place for a little while. Y/n curls up more into the covers, where she lays there for a little while longer until a small crashing noise causes her eyes to snap open.
She sits upright and spots Wilbur in the kitchen nearby.
"Sorry-!" He says quickly upon making eye-contact with her. There's a frying pan in his hands and a few other various cooking trays that had fallen from the cabinet onto the ground. "I was trying to be quiet- uh- I'm making eggs,"
Y/n whines softly in annoyance before laying back down. "It's too early..."
"Y/n it's 10 o'clock,"
She eventually sits up again and watches cook him from over the back of the couch. The blanket stays wrapped around her shoulders since it was a bit cold in the apartment.
"Comfy?" Wilbur asks her while passing her a plate of scrambled eggs.
"Yes, very..." Y/n rubs one of her eyes tiredly while taking the plate with her other hand. "Thanks,"
He nods while sitting on the opposite end of the couch with his own plate. His body seemed tensed for some reason.
"How did you sleep last night?" Y/n asks after a long period of awkward silence.
"Uh- I slept fine," Wilbur replies, shifting uncomfortably in his seat. "You?"
"I think Tommy called me at an unreasonably early time, but aside from that I slept pretty well actually," She replies merrily. "Sorry I ended up crashing here unexpectedly though,"
"It's okay, I don't mind," He smiles at her a little.
-
Y/n leaves a little while later to go feed her cat. After he closes the door behind her, Wilbur presses his forehead against it and lets out a heavy sigh.
When he had woken up to her sleeping on him that morning, he hadn't known what to do. His heart had been beating so fast that he was certain she would hear it and wake up.
But he hadn't been too uncomfortable after the initial shock. In fact, he had laid there for at least another hour or so before finally deciding to try and move.
Still, even now, the thought of the closeness between them makes his face heat up.
Phil had been right. Even though he had just met her a few weeks ago, he was falling for her.

The perpetual smirk on his face had slipped to a thin line, his scar more noticeable now than ever before. His amber eyes, the windows to his soul, dull and lifeless. If that wasn't enough, the tears running down his face certainly would, the echoing sobs of a broken man rang across the rundown church. It was on a whim, but Luck Lockyer prayed, he prayed for many things, for death, revenge, friends, but the one prayer dominating his thoughts, a second chance for his family. That was all he wanted. Simple.
