《Need A Bandage For That?, Ukai X Reader》5 Training camp

I looked at him confused and took a step back because he seemed to somehow made his way so close to me that my head had to be uncomfortably pointed upwards to see him in the eyes.
Is that a threat?
"...Because the next few days, the only patients you'll be having will be volleyball players." The smirk did not leave his mouth as he was enjoying the news he just announced.
"What? What do you mean?" I spat out.
"The volleyball training camp is in a week and you as the only medic were chosen to go with us." He explained now more casually.
"What, nobody told me. I didn't even agree to anything and who chose me." My confusion was still apparent as I was thinking if I missed some meeting where this was discussed.
"Well, that's not my problem. You just need to be standing next Monday at 6am in front of the school ready to aboard the bus." He smiled, amused by my confusion.
"Ugh, whatever." I grunted and turned to leave. I was too tired to continue this conversation any further and walked out.
Essentially, I had a week to gather information and prepare for the training camp.
The chilly morning breeze was stinging my cheeks as I was nervously waiting in front of the school. I had two big bags standing beside me, one bigger than another.
One was my personal stuff and the other was full of medical supplies.
Looking at the stuffed bag of the inventory from my office, I pondered if I brought too much. I didn't know how much can people get injured playing volleyball but judging from Ukai's training I prepared for the worst.
"Okay, all the students and their bags are on the bus, now yours." Mr. Takeda announced with his clipboard in his hand which he previously used to tick the presence of the students.

I reached out for my bag to place it in the bus but as I grabbed the handle someone pushed me to the side.
"Go sit down, I'll put them in." Ukai groaned through the cigarette in his mouth and picked up the bag.
"Hey, I was perfectly fine doing it myself." I remarked. Even though I struggled profusely on way here carrying those bags and had to stop a few times to catch my breath, I didn't like Ukai's way of 'offering help'.
"Come miss L/N. I'll tell you the plan for the camp." Mr. Takeda called out so I obediently followed him into the bus but managed to give Ukai one last look of annoyance.
I saw a small smile appear on his lips before he went to pick up the other bag of mine.
The ride was long but I slept through most of it so I didn't mind.
When we arrived few other teams were already there so me, Ukai and Mr. Takeda went to greet the other coaches.
We came to a hurdle of students in red jerseys. After a little time, we spotted a figure which seemed to be their coach.
Mr. Takeda was the first one to shake hands with him and thus introduce himself. Next one Ukai who did the same. His introduction was however more casual as he seemed to know this man know before. He looked the same age as him so maybe they were former classmates.
"And who is this? Your assistant?" The man chuckled, pointing fun at Ukai.
"Hi, I'm Y/N L/N, I'm the school nurse and the medical assistance for this camp." I smiled while reaching out for his hand.
"Nice to meet you miss. As you heard I'm Manabu Naoi, the great Nekoma coach. I hope you have a lot of bandages for the loses that await Karasuno's team." He gave a wide smile to which I chuckled sensing the playfulness in his voice

But one who wasn't so fond of Naoi's jokes was Ukai who seemed to try to pierce Nekoma's coach with his gaze.
"Don't get ahead of yourself Naoi. Maybe you'll be the one who'll be needing bandages for your booboos." Ukai gritted between his teeth while trying to keep a friendly smile.
The rest of the day was spent unpacking and getting to know the resort he was going to stay at for the few following days. I was given a separate room from the other girl coaches and managers to act as my doctor's office. While I was unpacking I checked again if I had brought everything.
The rest of the volleyball teams arrived as well throughout the day.

This is an old version of the heavily edited and rewritten Ortus This is the story of a woman named Riza. For one, even if someone tried to tell her, she doesn't know the language. Number two, have you heard about the sunk cost fallacy?
