《Need A Bandage For That?, Ukai X Reader》4 Too intimidating

I didn't stay until the rest of the practice but from what I could observe, I should reevaluate my opinion on Ukai.

Even though he was hard on the boys and his roaring voice still send shivers down my back, he seemed to really care for their improvement and took his position as a coach very seriously.

As I was getting ready to go to work in the morning, I found that I didn't have any more food to take with me to school for lunch so I needed to stop by the Sakanoshita Market.

"Morning." I beamed as I entered the store and saw Ukai at his usual spot behind the counter.

"Morning." He spared me a glance and immediately went back to reading his paper.

Navigating my way through the aisles I was looking for something that would fill up my stomach.

I stopped at the refrigerator that offered different types of onigiri. I read the labels indicating the different fillings and ended up reaching for the tuna one.

"Just this one." I announced as I put the snack on the counter.

Ukai looked at what was placed in front of him and sighed which made me confused.

"Have you had this tuna onigiri before?" He asked.

"No, but I wanted to try something new." A smile appeared on my lips thinking of enjoying it at lunch.

"The tuna one is horrible, you should get a different one." He started getting up while grabbing the onigiri to change it to a different one.

"Oh, it can't be that bad. I'll take it anyway. I've never had a bad onigiri before." I stopped him and put down the money.

He looked at me with raised eyebrows and put the onigiri back on the counter to instead take the money.

"Suit yourself then." He murmured.

Another week had passed and it was Friday again. Surprisingly I was more busy than usual this week. And it was mostly because of certain volleyball enthusiasts.

*knock knock*

"Come in." I shouted, clearing my desk from the mess I accumulated.

It was already after school hours so I wasn't expecting anyone to come this late.

The door slowly opened and my smile loosened a bit.

"Hinata? What is it this time?" I sighed in pity. It was his third time coming here with an injury.

He gave me an anxious chuckle.

"Hello miss L/N." He greeted and I immediately noticed the bruises around his arms.

I stood up and came to him, taking his arms in my hands and inspecting them.

"Oh god, what have you been doing, is someone bullying you? Or did you get in a fight with Kageyama again?" The discolored marks on his skin made me worried.

"No, no. I'm not here because of it. It's just from volleyball. Coach wants us to do our best so I get some bruises from practicing so much." He smiled, trying to show me that he was alright.

I nodded and took my seat at the table again.

"So what is it then?" I was observing him to find the injury he acquired.

"It's my shoulder, coach wanted me to try blocking Asahi's spike and something cracked when the ball hit my hand and now my shoulder hurts." He explained while pointing at the source of the pain.

I knitted my eyebrows, thinking about what could possibly be the 'crack' sound he heard. The worst possibility could be that he broke something but he'd be in much more pain. He seemed fine standing in front of me, other than the uneasy smile he had from the irritating pain.

"Okay, I'll check it. It probably isn't broken but I'll send you the get an x-ray just to be sure."

While I was addressing Hinata's injury I was thinking how is it possible that the boys had so many injuries now. Hinata seemed to attract injuries on the usual but even Kageyama and Daichi came here with something paining them. And they seemed like the ones that take safety first and everything else second.

What is Ukai doing with them. I'm not planning on wasting all my medical inventory or the volleyball team just because he's pushing the training over the line.

After I sent out Hinata back to practice while thoroughly advising him to not continue the practice and just tell Ukai what happened, I packed up my stuff to close the office.

As I was navigating my way through the halls, I kept thinking if I should tell something to Ukai about the boys' injuries because it seemed ridiculous to have half of my patients be volleyball injuries.

I stopped on my way, turned around, and made my way toward the gym.

The practice had just ended and I saw the boys packing the equipment and cleaning the floors.

I looked for Kyoko to ask her where Ukai was but I didn't see her either, they must have already gone home. I sighed that I was too late but then I realized that I could find him at another place.

Thankfully the store was still lit up indicating that it hadn't closed yet.

When I entered I didn't see Ukai, maybe he was at the back. And my thoughts were confirmed when I heard him yell.

"We're closing, save it for tomorrow please!"

"Ukai, it's me, Y/N." I called out, slowly making my way towards where his voice came from.

When his figure appeared, he look at me confused.

"Hi, what is it? Thanks for treating Hinata by the way." He was already out of his tracksuit, now with more casual clothing. He didn't have his usual arrogant aura around but that was maybe because he was tired.

"Yeah, about that." I chuckled anxiously.

He took a step towards me and gave me a look, noticing that I probably had something to say he wouldn't like.

I pondered once again if I should tell him about the problem. But I was already here so I should. I took a deep breath to prepare for my speech.

"More than half of this week's injuries were from your volleyball practices. I don't know what are you doing with them but certainly, it can't be good when every other patient is from your volleyball team." I complained. I tried to keep my confidence but his figure towered over me and with each word his expression got more annoyed, I was slowly retreating back to my anxious self.

Too intimidating.

I felt my skin get goosebumps.

Now that I was done with what I wanted to say I waited for his response. The silence was deafening and only my scared gulp could be embarrassingly heard.

"So what you are saying is that my way of training is bad?" He said slowly.

"Ah, not necessarily..." My voice was weak as I tried to find the right words.

"I guess I'm just asking if it could be less harmful to students so I wouldn't have to take care of so many injuries from the volleyball team." I came here for him to acknowledge his faults or even apologize but now it seemed like I was the one apologizing.

He scoffed looking to the side like I made some ridiculous claim.

"Oh...I think I have some bad news for you then..." He smirked.
