Oblivious to the apartment door

closing in the distance,

he called out for you but you could barely hear it,

getting carried away with your painting.

Stopping in the archway to the living room,

his intense blue eyes fell onto you sitting

there on the living room floor,

covered in the stuff.

"What the fuck?"

He scoffed.

"What the fuck are ya doing huh?

You're covered in paint baby.

It's past your fucking bedtime"

"Well you didn't come home so I thought

I should stay up and wait for you"

You answered him quietly,

too focused on the picture you were working on.

"Look daddy.

It's you and me and-"

Prying the paint brush from your little hands,

he put it to the side,

scooping you up as you reached over his shoulder,

whining that you weren't finished yet.

Placing you down into the bath tub,

he ran the hot water,

stripping you of your clothes

and telling you to hold your arms up.

"But my boobies"

You furrowed your eyebrows,

covering them with your hands as

he rolled his eyes at your innocence.

"I see them all the time doll.

Just get in the water alright?"

Sighing softly,

you sank down into the water,

playing with the bubbles in your hand as he scrubbed at your skin softly with a sponge,

lighting up a cigarette and smoking

it at the same time,

the sleeves to his shirt tucked up to stop

them from getting wet.

"What the fuck is in this stuff huh?"

An irritated sigh left his mouth as

he stubbed out the cigarette,

gripping your wrist in his hand,

scrubbing at your skin harder than he was before.

"Ow!"

You winced in pain.

"That hurts daddy.

The water is too hot"

"It's not too hot"

He told you firmly.

"I can fucking feel it.

Now sit still"

"It's not coming off"

You sighed softly.

"I can see that little girl"

He told you through gritted teeth,

starting to lose his patience with you.

"You're not playing with that shit anymore"

"But they're my favourite"

You breathed out.

"I need them daddy"

"I don't give a shit"

He rolled his eyes at your innocence,

pulling you out of the tub

and placing you on his lap,

wrapping your little body in a towel

to dry you off.

"It's cold"

You buried your head into his chest,

an irritated sigh leaving his mouth

because you were being clingy and it was hard

to get you dry like that.

"I can't dry you like this doll"

"I want cuddles daddy"

You mumbled into his chest,

refusing to move.

"...alright"

He sucked his teeth in annoyance,

patting your back with the palm

of his hand awkwardly,

unfamiliar with the random intimacy.

"Love you dada"

You added.

"Hm"

He muttered under his breath.
