Long nights during deals in his club,
he would have you wait in his office
where it was safe,
away from any kind of conflict,
men ready to remove you from the building
if any kind of situation broke out and
he couldn't get to you before they could.
Kissing your forehead roughly,
he leaned over your little body to switch
on the lamp next to the luxury leather sofa
where you laid with your favourite stuffed
animal and blankie,
looking up at him as he did it,
a low chuckle leaving his mouth.
"What do ya want little girl?"
He grinned at you.
"Who do ya think you're staring at hm?"
"You daddy"
You answered him quietly,
feeling sleepy and warm,
tucked up in his office.
"You want your paci?"
He asked you lowly,
his intense blue eyes looking
down on you.
"No..."
You trailed off into a short silence
before asking him.
"Will you be really long tonight like
you did last night?"
"I don't know doll"
He told you.
"Who knows what's gonna happen hm?
Every night is different"
"Will you check on me?"
You asked him curiously.
"Because last night you kept sending uncle frost in every hour and he was very intimidating"
"He was just making sure you were okay baby"
He rolled his eyes at your exaggerations.
"Alright?"
"It's not very comfortable in here daddy"
You sighed softly,
refusing to agree with him.
"It's very dark and everything is made
of wood and leather.
Why can't you paint one of the walls pink?"
"Daddys not painting the wall pink"
He scoffed.
"Why don't cha bring some of ya toys down
here next time huh?"
"I can't torture them with this kind of environment"
You furrowed your eyebrows.

"They need a positive place to be daddy"
"Daddys not positive?"
"Daddy..."
You breathed out.
"You're grumpy and angry
and you tell everyone what to do and
if they don't do it,
you lash out at them"
"Oh?"
He raised an eyebrow at you,
a smirk forming on his mouth.
"So that's what ya think of daddy huh?
You think I'm grumpy?"
"You're the grumpiest daddy in the world"
You giggled.
"And you're old and cranky"
"Old?"
He teased you playfully.
"I'm in my prime little girl.
When's the last time you saw an old man
looked as good as this hm?"
"Does a cartoon character count?"
"Cartoon characters don't count"
He chuckled,
kissing your lips softly before pulling away.
"Daddys gonna go now.
You be a good girl and I'll see ya tonight,
alright?"
"Okay daddy"
You whispered.
"Okay my little bunny"
He kissed your forehead again,
leaving you there alone,
eyes heavy with sleep,
closing the door behind him and becoming somebody else entirely.
You were the only person he let
the mask fall for.

Rather then drown you all in a flood of one- to three-chapter mini-fics, I've decided to put out all of my short stories in an 'omnibus' format, sorted by series and by release date. Through some twist of fate the data-entering grunt was pulled into another world, one containing terrifying people wielding magic powers beyond what he thought possible, and - somehow comparatively less horrifying - actual monsters. The only saving grace is that through his transference, he has become one of those terrifying people, and he's not sure how he feels about it yet. Oh, and he landed on a boat. Branded a Sylum for the way others unlucky enough to be pulled across the fabric of space tended to go insane after arrival, he will need to navigate a land unlike his own in seemingly every way except for the flaws, all while attempting to maintain his morality, and more importantly, his sanity. With his crew at his side and disconcertingly dangerous magic proportionate to his physical ability, it will not be easy.
