You opened your eyes slowly,
sunlight flooding through the curtains,
feeling heavier than usual,
your whole body acheing as you winced,
knowing that he was somewhere in the room because you were sure you felt him pass
by the bed moments before.
"There she is"
He grinned,
pulling on a fresh shirt,
side glancing at you when he noticed
how sick you looked.
"Sleepy head.
What's wrong with you hm?
You feeling good baby?"
"My head hurts"
You answered him weakly,
stuffiness in your voice,
evident you came down with a cold overnight.
"Let daddy take a look"
He leaned down beside the bed,
feeling your forehead with the palm of his hand,
an irritated sigh leaving his mouth.
"You're burning up sweetheart.
Fuck...
I have to be down at the docks tonight.
I can get one of the boys to sit
with you for a while"
"No daddy"
You sniffled.
"I don't want anyone to see me like this"
"I'm not leaving you on your own"
He scoffed.
"How about frost?
You like him hm?
We're just moving a delivery so he
doesn't need to be there"
"Then why do you need to be there?"
You breathed out.
"Hey"
He told you firmly.
"Don't do to that me little girl.
You know why I have to be there"
He left you there for a moment
as you sighed softly,
getting some medicine from the bathroom cabinet,
opening the lid and pouring it into the cap,
holding it towards you.
"It's yucky daddy"
You shook your head.
"I don't want it"
"You have to"
He rolled his eyes at how dramatic you were,
telling you to open your mouth as he
tilted the cap so you could swallow the liquid.
"Wasn't so bad huh?"
"It's disgusting"
You whined,

drinking some water on the night stand
to get rid of the artificial taste.
"I just called frost.
He should be here in twenty minutes"
He pulled his jacket on,
taking a cigarette from his pocket
and lighting it up.
"I'm gonna lock the door so you have to
get up to let him in alright?"
"Okay daddy"
You answered him quietly
as he kissed your forehead roughly,
leaving you tucked up in bed.
********
"Hows my little girl?"
You felt his fingers brush against your face,
opening your eyes to see him there,
frost nowhere to be seen.
"What time is it daddy?"
You asked him tiredly.
"It's midnight baby"
He told you lowly.
"You been sleeping all this time?"
"I think so"
You answered him quietly.
"I remember answering the door
and then I got back into bed again...
What is that?"
You could see a glimmer of red
underneath the light,
a wound across his chest like he had
been stabbed with a knife.
"It's just a cut sweetheart.
Don't worry about it"
"What happened daddy?"
You tried to get out of bed but feeling so weak,
it felt impossible.
"Something happened down at the docks,
It's nothing"
He took out a cigarette out,
lighting it up as he stood there in
nothing but his sweats.
"Daddy's fine baby girl.
You want something to eat?"
"Frost tried to make me eat soup but
I told him I didn't want it.
I'm not hungry"
A low chuckle leaving his mouth,
he sat on the other side of the bed,
his back against the headboard as he
smoked the cigarette.
Stubbing it out when it was almost gone,
he pulled you closer to him,
your head on his lap
and he leaned down to kiss you.
"I'm sick daddy-"
"I don't care"
He gripped your face in his hand,
kissing you firmly,
making you giggle when he kept
doing it,
kissing all over your face.
"Daddy!"
You giggled.
"I'm sick"
"I know my little bunny's sick"
He grinned.

Meg The Heavenly Merchant
Updates once a week.(This is a rough draft) Author's Note: This story has grown in ways I did not predict and while it still features a merchant those aspects have gotten less page time than the fighting and romance elements. I have updated the description to represent the story better) For the past fourteen years Meg has dedicated herself to walking the path of a Heavenly Dragon Knight in her favorite videogame, Tattered Realms:Chaos Age. But now the game is shutting down and everyone wants to know what she plans to do for the sequel. Meg isn't sure at first. She knows only that she yearns for the days when she could lose herself in a game without worrying about boss strategies and crushing her rivals. And when her friend suggests playing a merchant her heart is filled with the same wanderlust and inspiration that launched her gaming career in the first place. But if she isn't dominating dungeons and setting records will people still watch her play? And can she really walk away from all the fighting for a quiet life of buying and selling?
