"I made you something daddy"
You climbed onto the bed,
pressing the wrapped gift into his hand,
waiting for him to open it.
"Huh?"
He raised an eyebrow,
looking at the tiny box you gave him.
"Made what baby?"
"It's a surprise daddy"
You smiled at him excitedly.
"You need to open it"
An irritated sigh leaving his mouth,
he pulled at the ribbon,
opening the box to find a tiny frog
sitting there.
"What the fuck?"
He looked at you.
"Where the fuck did ya get this?"
"I found it in the garden"
You breathed out.
"I left it in the bathroom overnight
so that it wouldn't die.
It's green!"
"Yeah,
I can see that doll"
He scoffed.
"You can't bring fucking insects
and shit in here"
"Why not?"
You furrowed your eyebrows at him.
"Cos they're fucking filthy"
He told you firmly.
"And it could be fucking poisonous.
Did you wash ya hands after
you picked this up?"
"I think so"
You trailed off into a silence,
not sharing the same opinions as him.
"Do you like it?"
"It's..."
He tried to find something to say
without hurting your feelings.
"Look,
Come here baby"
Pulling you onto his lap,
you smiled at him toothily,
oblivious to the fact that he thought
it was disgusting,
staring into his intense blue eyes.
"Daddy doesn't need any more presents hm?
Maybe leave them outside.
You're probably gonna kill 'em
bringing them in here"
"Oh no daddy.
I looked it up on google-"
"No more presents"
He cut you off firmly.
"Alright?
Go wash ya hands.
Im gonna put it back outside.
What the fuck were ya thinking?"
