《Being Badass》Chapter 4

I have been in this cell for 4 years now. I was brought here when I was first taken. The Red Demons wanted something from my father.
I made friends with the second in command, he goes by Snow but his real name is Xavier.
After 2 years of being in the cell Xavier took over as leader. After all that time in the cell I was growing bitter twords my family. Dad and mom didn't give a shit about me, and my other siblings haven't found me.
I know Dylan was just a little girl, but I wanted her to find me. She was my twin after all. But she didn't. And my father didnt want me.
So I offered to train. To be a member. Since then Xavier has been training me, but for security reasons I have to stay in the cell until I prove my loyalty. They treated me very well so I didnt mind.
::::::::::::::::
It was almost 4 years of being here. And today there were rumors about Emrald coming. I've heard about her from the guards. Shes the only thing that stands between gang wars, so I wasn't surprised she was coming.
She brought Isaiah back and in return she wanted a member of the Vipers back. And when I heard the prisoners whispering, I knew she was here.
I stood up by the bars of my cell and waited for her to come. She looked at me as she passed, and my eyes met her unfamiliar green ones, and she stopped.
She took a step twords my cell, holding remembrance and sadness in her eyes, but she quickly wiped it away. Then in the coldest voice I've ever heard, she asks a question.
"Whose this one. I've only seen black eyes once before."
"Only once?" Boss asks.
"Yes, only once. The Golden Rouges boss doesn't deal with me directaly, so I'm sure that's a myth. I've only seen it in the Tygers boss."
I nearly gag at the mention of my father, but I feel like shes lying.

"Oh. Well hes the son of the Tygers' boss. We took him 4 years ago to get some weapons, but he didnt care. He told us thank you. He didnt want him or his twin. The twin aparently committed suicide."
I didnt know Dylan comited suicide. So many feeling came rushing twords me and I had to turn around to keep them from seeing. After that she left quickly.
::::::::::::::::::::::::
That bastard. That BASTARD. My father told people I was dead!
But more important than that, my brother was alive. Dustin was alive. When Xavier said i committed suicide i saw Dustin tear up, but he turned around so I couldn't see.
I knew I had to get out of there quickly, otherwise I was going to have a total breakdown.
:::::::::::::::::::::::
I got the guy and brought him back to his father and went straight home. I ran up to my room tearing off the bandana and the rest of my clothes and threw them in my closet. I put on I tshirt and shorts and took out my contacts, all on the verge of tears.
I ran downstairs to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of vodka. I want to my parents bedroom and rummaged around until I found a small mints tin.
This was it. I was relapsing. This is exatally what I had done when he was first taken. I went to therapy after that and had been sober for nearly 3 years. But nothing could stop this.
I took a large swig of vodka, it burning as it slid down my throat. Then I opened the tin and took two pills with it.
I had a few moments of euphoria, when I came crashing back harder. By this time i had drank half the bottle of vodka, and was barely even tipsy. I forgot how high my alcohol resistance was.
Then they all came back.
"NO!" I screamed as they dragged him away. They had a gun to both of our heads, and he was still trying to protect me.

"Take me! Take me! Don't hurt her just take me!" He screamed. The people on masks started to look around and talk in a language I didnt understand. French. Even though he had a gun to his head. He was worried about me.
"Its going to be fine. You're going to be fine. I'll be fine too. It'll all be okay."
With those words they began to drag him away. He was crying, and so was I.
"NOOOO! Don't take him please!" I pleaded. The man behind me hit me in the temple with the butt of his gun, and walk away.
The last thing I remember was someone with piercing blue eyes, and he couldn't have been much older than us, holding a gun to my brothers head, before everything went black.
-------------
Everyday I stole drugs and alcohol from my parents, trying to forget. But nothing worked. Eventually my cousin, Jayden found and and made me go to therapy. I became sober, and vowed to find Dustin.
I trained with my uncle and joined his gang. I trained and I trained until I was his sniper with the best shot, never missed. I trained until I never lost a fight. I trained until I was the most ruthless, toughest person anyone had ever seen.
But even though I thought I was prepared to find my brother, nothing could've prepared me for that.
::::::::::::::::::
The memories were brutal. They were absolutely awful. I shakily stood up, wounded from the memories, and screamed. I screamed and cried until there was nothing left.
I walked over to the wall, shaking in anger, remembering that day. Knowing who was behind those masks.
Knowing who was holding a gun to my brothers head.
I walked over to an empty wall, and I punched it.
Over and over making a new hole each time. I screamed once again and collapsed to the floor. Crawling over to my desk and taking another large swig of vodka when I hear my door open.
I look up and see Fallon, Mikey, and Sam. All with scared, worried faces. I look back to the floor and quietly whisper
"What are you doing here?"
I was sitting in my room at home, bored out of my mind when I get a call from an unknown number.
"Hello?"
"Hi. This is Eathan. Is this Fallon?"
"Yes. How do you have my number?"
"That's beside the point right now."
I pick up the worried tone in his voice and began to grow concerned.
"Eathan, what's wrong?"
"The guys and I are at Xaviers, and Dyaln is having a breakdown. You need to get there right now. It's really bad."
"Oh God. I'll be there."
I hang up quickly and go get Mikey and Sam. We get to her house and see blood all over her floor from her fist, and see her drinking vodka.
She sees us and in a barely audible voice asks "What are you doing here?"
Mikey walks up to her and takes her phone. "I'm calling your parents."
"No!" She screams, and looks down, a single tear falling on the floor. "Dont call them. Call Jayden."
Mikey nods and walks out of the room. Sam goes into the bathroom and gets bandages, and proceeds to bandage Dylans hand up. I look out her window and see the guys. I walk out onto her balcony.
"What the hell happened?" Iasked them. Dylan walks up next to me.
"Were you watching the whole time?"
Shes still shaking, looking like she could implode at any moment.
The guys all nod their heads. "We called them." Eathan replied, somewhat shyly.
"Why the hell would you call them!" She screamed, walking away. "You dont even care!"
I turned and walk to her, and she looks at me tears streaming down her face. She had her blue contacts in still.
"They did this. It's all their fault."
I shake my head when Mikey walks into the room, followed by a tall, college age girl with blonde hair, but had Dylans same black eyes.
"Dylan?"

8 892The Hopeful Project
A pair of twins stumble their way into the world of blood magic, lizard people, and cultivation powered mecha-armor. And by stumble, I mean one of them falls on their face while the other laughs. [Writathon Participant] People read this far? What are you doing down here? Escape! The chapter buttons are over there, stop reading this. No? Fine. This book is an excuse to put a world I spent around 3-4 months of my life building over the pandemic into writing. I was planning on doing the writathon last year, but somehow managed to confuse October and November. Dont laugh, I'm already ashamed enough. This book is about a pair of twins, doing twin things: calling each other names, going to school, learning how to use their blood to become unstoppable, juggernaut, killing machines... You know, twin stuff. It's like if someone stuffed a school arc inside of a tournament arc inside of a war arc. A good time, basically. I hope you enjoy it.

In the dark days before the end of the first millennium, Scotland (or Scotia as some called it) was a leaderless hodgepodge of tribes, clans and warring factions all bent on the same thing--domination of the land. Wizards, sorcerers and magicians still plied their trade, though much of their power had given way to the machinations of men and their war machines. To the south of Scotia lay the realm of the Saxons ruled by Ethelred the Unready and his ruthless minions. To the west, Ireland had just come of age. Everywhere else the constant threat of a lightning swift Viking incursion loomed over the land.Growing up in this lawless world is a displaced Daynin McKinnon, heir to an ancient familial keep on the island of Rhum. He and his grandfather Ean scratch out a living amongst the Saxons, careful never to divulge their clan heritage. That all changes when Kruzurk Makshare chooses Daynin as the ideal prospect to help him bring down a vile sorcerer named The Seed of Cerberus, ferreted away in his impregnable fortress at Blackgloom. Little does Kruzurk know that in so doing, he will launch young Daynin, himself and others on a vast, dangerous quest that no one could have foreseen. *****One Hollywood producer has dubbed this three book fantasy epic from Jon Baxley as, "BRAVEHEART meets THE LORD OF THE RINGS." Real places, people and events flesh out this fast moving, multi-faceted semi-historical series but fear not fantasy readers. There's more than enough of the magical, mystical mayhem you have come to expect from great fantasy. Romance readers, too, will enjoy the 'spice' in these characters--and there are a lot of them--both human and otherwise. And if you're into Viking lore, this series certainly is for you.When someone asks the author about his series, he answers with, “There were far more surprises in this tale than I ever expected and it's not over yet!
