Alex quickly racked her brain for where she had heard that voice before.
"Congratulations Cap, you're a criminal."
The authorities quickly swarmed in to incarcerate Bucky first. They shouted in their native language as the rest of the guilty held their hands up slowly. The mystery man retracted his claws, and twisted off his mask.
Alex was surprised to see a very attractive African American man with a remorseful face look back at her.
"Your highness," Rhodey, she had realized, spoke. Tony had told her of their times together, and how he had earned a suit of his own.
She knew she'd be filled in on who the royal man was at some point, so she didn't make it a priority to ask now.
She did have time, though, to ask on their journey to Berlin, where the authorities were taking them. Steve quietly explained that he was T'Challa, now the king of Wakanda, which she remembered from their previous mission is a very elusive country.
A long escort of police cars safely transported Bucky and the rest of them to wherever they were going. She sat in the backseat with Sam in the police car, while Steve and T'Challa were in the row in front of them.
"So you like cats?" Sam spoke to T'Challa, while Alex snickered.
"Sam." He was scolded by Steve.
"What? Dude shows up dressed like a cat, and you don't want to know more?"
"I've always wanted a cat," Alex chimed in.
"Your suit, it's Vibranium?" Steve asked the quiet man.
"The Black Panther has been the protector of Wakanda for generations. A mantle passed from warrior to warrior. And now, because your friend murdered my father, I also wear the mantle of King. So I ask you, as both warrior and king, how long do you think you can keep your friend safe from me?"
Alex and Sam looked at each other with unease.
The rest of the ride was silent, as they finally reached their destination. Inside a garage, they were allowed to get out of the vehicle. They watched as Bucky's giant cell car was taken to a separate area of the facility.
"What's gonna happen to him?" Steve asked expectantly as the foursome walked over to a short man in a suit.
"Same thing that ought to happen to you. Psychological evaluation and extradition."

The blonde woman who seemed to know Steve spoke next, "This is Everett Ross, Deputy Task Force Commander."
"See that their weapons are placed in lock up." Ross spoke to the woman.
Armed men carried Steve's shield, Sam's wings, and both T'Challa and Alex's suits away.
"I better not look up and see anybody flying around in that." Sam spat.
They followed the men, through the building as Ross spoke to them. On the way, Nat met up with them and walked alongside the group.
"For the record, this is what making things worse looks like." She spoke. "It's good to see you again, Alex."
"You too, Nat." Alex smiled for the first time since they had been 'arrested'.
They kept walking until they reached a room with many glass rooms and screens. Alex almost winced when she laid eyes on Tony, who was yelling into his phone.
"Consequences? You bet there will be consequences--obviously, you can quote me on that, I just said it. Anything else? Good day, sir."
"Consequences?" Steve asked as Tony hung up.
"Ross wants the three of you prosecuted. Had to give them something." His eyes landed on Alex. "Welcome back to Earth, where we can't do whatever we want."
"Then what planet do you normally live on, because that's all you do," She jabbed.
"I'm not getting my shield back am I?"
"Technically it's the government's property. Wings and suit too," Nat called.
"That's cold," Sam muttered.
"Warmer than jail!" Tony walked away from the group.
After about an hour, Steve went to talk to Tony. Alex sat with Sam, talking about battle stories, and whatnot. They simply passed the time.
"So you met Steve on a run?"
"I did. Son of a bitch kept passing me,"
"Sounds like Steve." She laughed.
They talked until Nat walked over and said, "Alex, you should go in and talk to Tony. He's been wanting to speak with you,"
"Alright, thank you."
She stood up, walking over to the glass box in the center of the room. Tony and Steve were conversing, though none of their words could be heard to people on the outside. As she walked in, Steve was aggressively placing a pen back down on the table.
"I'd hate to break up the set."

Alex watched as Steve stormed out before moving her eyes back to Tony.
"What were you thinking?" He simply asked.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, going to Bucharest with Rogers? Interfering with German authorities--I'm assuming he filled you in on everything? The Accords, the--"
"The Accords are wrong, Tony."
"There is no right or wrong right now. Only smart and stupid. And you, were stupid to go with him."
"Well don't hold back," She muttered.
"You could've been hurt."
"Is that why you neglected to even contact me telling me all of this was going on? For fuck's sake, Tony, everyone was here except for me! Except Bruce, where the hell even is Bruce? I have no idea what's happening, but what I do know is that once again you have tried to keep me from the fight."
"For your protection!" He roared.
"I don't need protecting! I'm a grown woman! I could've been there, in Vienna. I could've been there by your side like I always am."
"We're out of our element here. The sooner we band together and stop acting recklessly, the sooner we can figure this out."
She shook her head. "We made a promise to the world when we started calling ourselves 'the Avengers' that we would do what's right. And if you can sit here and tell me that's what you're doing, then you're lying to yourself."
"I'm beginning to think you're too immature to be on this team."
"Stop acting like you're my father, Tony, because you're not." Alex spat.
She left him without words as she walked out of the glass box. She walked through the floor until she found Steve and Sam in another conference room with the blonde woman.
"Alex, good, you're here. I gave Sam the receipt for your gear."
Alex glanced at it. "Crackle Nail Polish suit? That's just rude."
"They called mine a bird costume," Sam spoke.
The woman, who Alex learned was named Sharon Carter, was a close friend of Steve's. She was Peggy's niece, to Alex's shock.
Sharon pressed a button that allowed them to watch Bucky's psychological evaluation. The man seemed to get no where with Bucky, so the four of them talked about his newspaper photo instead. Something, however, was beginning to seem fishy--
And that's when the power went out.
Sharon looked to the three of them, who were waiting on her expectantly.
"Sub-level 5, east wing,"
Alex smiled. Sharon was also on their side.
They ran quickly, trying their hardest to go unnoticed. They made their way down several levels, only to find a guard knocked out at the door of Bucky's area. As they kept walking, they saw several guards on the ground.
"Help," A faint voice spoke.
Steve walked over to the man, to see it was the one evaluating Bucky. He then pinned him against the wall violently.
"Who are you? What do you want?" Steve interrogated.
The man smugly said, "To see an empire fall,"
"Sam--" Alex said, seeing Bucky swing toward him.
Bucky and Sam began to fight, and Alex tried to get a clear shot at Bucky to drain his energy. She grabbed a hold of his normal arm, but he delivered an upper cut to her chin with his other. Her nose began to bleed, but she kept fighting. Steve joined in as well, so it was the three of them against Bucky's enraged alter ego.
After Steve fell down an elevator shaft due to Bucky's force, Sam went after the psych eval. man. Alex ran after Bucky, who made his way to the main level. He began to fight both Tony and Nat, succeeding against both.
She stealthily followed him, watching him now take on T'Challa. He shook the Black Panther, and continued to move up toward the helicopter pad. Here, Alex made her move.
She swung at him, catching him off guard. Angered, he swept her leg and tried to step on her. She rolled out of the way, careful not to roll right off the pad. The door swung open, revealing Steve.
"Alex!"
She tried to grab Bucky's ankle as he ran toward the helicopter, but she missed. Firing up the vessel, he began to lift off when Steve grabbed the bottom of it.
"Be careful!" Alex yelled.
But, to her surprise, he actually managed to keep the helicopter from flying away. Steve's veins bulged out of his arms as he pulled with all of his might. Bucky swerved the copter back down, causing the blades to almost decapitate Steve. Alex watched helplessly from the door, blood gushing from her face.
The helicopter stopped moving, and Bucky grabbed Steve's throat with his bionic arm. Alex made a run for the copter, which had started to slip off the edge. She barely missed it, stopping her run before she fell off the pad with it.
All she could do was watch the helicopter plummet into the water.
