on her tunic, and straightened her hair. She stood from the bed, and met Loki's eyes when he looked back at her.

"Do come in." Loki's voice was annoyed at Odin's pushing into the room.

Alex instantly fell intimidated. She hadn't met the man before, and she quickly recognized his power. He was the 'Protector of the Nine Realms', and he was standing right before her. Gaping at her current state.

A great first impression.

"Your majesty," She looked at Loki who stood behind Odin, her eyes frantic. He simply gave her a mocking thumbs up.

"And you are?"

"I'm Alexandra--"

"She's my guest." Loki interrupted.

"And where is she a guest from?"

"Midgard."

Odin whipped around to face Loki, and Alex felt a blush creep onto her cheeks. She threw her hands up silently to Loki once Odin's attention was no longer on her. After receiving a wink from Loki, she sent him a threatening stare.

"I will not have mortals waltzing around my kingdom, Loki, I have far more important things to tend to. To list a few, relations with other realms have depleted from your days as ruler, your brother is absolutely no where to be found--"

"I'm not seeing an issue."

"She must leave at once. I'll gather the Einharjar to escort her--"

"She will be staying. She's also not just a mortal," Loki held out his hand for Alex to take. She walked over to the pair with caution. "She's got these abilities,"

"Nonsense, Loki. I will not be falling for your deception any longer."

"Alexandra, show daddy dearest what I mean," He gestured to his father.

Alex lifted her hand to Loki's bicep, who looked at her confusedly. It only took her a couple seconds to drain him of his energy, stepping out of the way to let him hit the ground with a 'thud'.

Odin's eyebrows shot up, but displayed no emotion on his face.

"I'm a part of the team Thor works for. The Avengers, your majesty. The same team that battled Loki many years ago when he attacked Earth,"

"Well, I must say you've shown me quite the ability. How I wish I had that power for when Loki was young,"

Alex dared to smile.

"He'll wake soon, and I will fall tired any minute now,"

"There are limits to your power?"

"Yes, I cannot use them without growing tired. However, we discovered it's powered by solar energy, so I was made a suit that was infused with Vitamin D,"

She felt herself begin to doze, but tried her best to remain awake. Odin was speaking to her, and she didn't want to be rude. Also, it would be quite embarrassing to faint in front of the king of Asgard.

But, then again, she had done it many times before when Loki shortly reigned.

Loki was coming to just as Alex fainted. He jumped when she hit the ground next to him, and moved to pick her up from the floor.

"So, I take it you're warming up to her, seeing as she's still here,"

"The girl harnesses great power, and you should fear it. Should she become unstoppable, she would be a force to be reckoned with,"

"Am I speaking with a witch? What's your point?"

"If you want her to remain here, and more importantly, wish a future with her," Odin gave him a pointed look. "She won't do well as a mortal,"

"What exactly are you saying?"

Alexandra was still limp in Loki's arms, but began to move once she came into consciousness. She was unaware of her surroundings at first, but quickly remembered what was happening before she fainted.

"I apologize,"

Odin ignored her. "If you were to locate the remainder of the vines of Fjorlid, she may be able to... continuously thrive,"

Loki's brows furrowed. "You don't mean..."

"What's he talking about?" Alex spoke up.

"Have you never spoken on this subject?"

"Well, not specifically--"

"How were you planning on marrying a mortal, Loki?" Odin sneered.

"Woah, marriage? We started dating like two days ago--" Alex cut in.

"Alexandra, the vines he's speaking of are the same as the ones that once hung around my bed."

"The ones I killed?"

Odin's beady eyes fell upon Alex. "You killed the vines of Fjorlid?"

"Oh, god, am I cursed?" Alex's voice filled with panic.

"You insolent girl, you shouldn't have been able to kill them!"

"She didn't really do it on purpose, erm, more of an accident,"

"I kind of absorbed their energy to the point of their death. But, I felt great that day,"

"How would you like to feel great everyday?" Loki flashed a cheesy grin.

"You want me to," She swallowed hard. "Become immortal?"

"We can certainly talk about it,"

"It'd be in your best interest to talk soon, because if you decline, I'll need to have you removed from Asgard permanently and taken back where you belong on Midgard." Odin spoke firmly, adding a small smirk. "But, no pressure."

With that, he left the room.

Alex and Loki's eyes met, both spiraling in a tizzy of confusion and panic. Loki began to pace around his room, and Alex was glued in her spot.

"Immortal," She spoke. "I don't even know what I'll do with myself if I live for that long,"

"You'll adopt hobbies."

"This is a lot to think about,"

"Not really. Do you want to be able to live up to your fullest potential, or do you want to be average?"

"I am not average." She huffed.

"As a mortal, you are. But, imagine your power if you were immortal? I doubt you'd even need a suit,"

Her ears perked up at this. The thought of not fearing fatigue after using her abilities was very appealing. What if she wasn't always able to access the suit? She can't possibly know when she'd need it.

But, the thought of immortality was enough to make you go numb with fear. The uncertainty of it was what immobilized her. She'd outlive everyone she loves. Tony, Steve, everyone back on Earth. She'd eventually see life without them. Of course, that is how life works, but she'd outlive them by a landslide.

"Loki, I don't think I can,"

"What's ailing you?"

"When is the end? What if, life begins to have no meaning because I know I'll be around for a while? What if I begin to," He voice fell above a whisper. "Lose myself?"

Loki ceased pacing, and walked over to where she was nervously standing. He took her hands in his, bringing them to his lips.

"Alexandra, I know it's a frightening thought, but I'll be here with you, through all of it. I will not let you lose yourself,"

His eyes met hers, and she could feel the warmth in his words. She was so utterly in love with him.

She smiledup at him. "I guess if I have to live that long you might not be too bad to have around,"

"Tomorrow, then, we'll embark to find the vines,"

"Do you know where they're found?"

"Not exactly, but I know of an area,"

"Oh, dear,"

"We must discuss this with Odin at dinner," Loki squeezed her hand.

"I really think he hates me,"

"Well, I hate him, so I wouldn't sweat it."

She rolled her eyes at his grin.

The rest of the day dragged painfully as Alex impatiently awaited dinner. She allowed Loki's servants to dress her in appropriate dinner attire. Loki laughed when she wouldn't allow the servants to bathe her, insisting she could bathe herself. He did, however, scowl when she wouldn't allow him to 'supervise' her bathing.

"I still don't understand why you're so intimidated," Loki said as they walked side by side to the dining hall.

"He is the Protector of the Nine Realms. That is intimidating."

"You should've met the Frost Giants."

"I wish your mother was here,"

She winced at her words the second they came out, but was surprised when Loki softly smiled.

"Me too."

They approached the dining hall, where Odin was already sat at the head of the table. His face looked delighted to see Alex wearing appropriate clothing, and nodded to the servants to pull out their chairs.

"I take it you've reached a desirable conclusion,"

"I've decided to, um, eat the vines?" She leaned to Loki. "How are they consumed?"

"I thought you might come to that, and I am pleased you did."

"You are?"

"You remind me much of my late wife," He spoke, drinking his wine. "She had a similar fire that I sense in you,"

Loki looked at Alex, beaming.

"Let's eat, shall we?"

The dinner was filled with random conversation, but mostly stories on both Odin and Alex's part. She asked many questions about Asgardian history, of which he was happy to answer. She loved to hear about Loki's younger days, much to his chagrin.

Once dinner was over, Loki excused himself and Alex to turn in for the night.

"Now, would you like to stay in the quarters I resided in while you were my prisoner?"

She thought for a moment. "No, I like your old room,"

He grinned. "Well, let's go to bed, shall we? We have quite the day tomorrow,"

"That we do,"

They walked hand in hand down the empty corridors toward Loki's room. The moonlight glistened brightly against the floors, like something Alex hadn't seen before. Everything in Asgard had a different feel to it, and she couldn't place her finger on it.

Nevertheless, she was happy to call it home.
