《Mafia's Errand boy (Mxb)》Chapter 11: Connections

The moment Rylan had returned home, I was bored and hungry. When I looked in the fridge, like he recommended I did, I found out that Rylan is actually a huge health nut.

So instead of actual snacks, there was..... vegetables. A whole lot of vegetables.

I was no goddamn rabbit, and I was most definitely not a healthy person, so I just waited for him to return home.

I smiled as Rylan walked in with a bag of takeout. "I figured you would rather have some cheap takeout than an actual meal."

I nodded. "You know me so well." He rolled his eyes as he set the bags down on the table and removed his coat. "You always were such an unhealthy eater."

I laughed. "Well, you can't blame me. My dad can't cook for shit. He's the one that got me hooked on it."

Rylan nodded as he gestured for me to sit down. "So while you eat this garbage, I'll be having a proper meal. Feel free to join me."

I laughed. "No thanks."

I watched and ate as he made some random garbage. "Want some salad?" He taunted.

I raised a brow. "Hell no."

He laughed before finally setting everything down onto the table. "Well... go ahead."

I wasted no time as I began to chow down on whatever was in front of me. Rylan gave me a few looks, but they were returned. Mostly because of the salad.

He grinned as he ate slowly. "It's funny how you eat so much, but you stay so little."

I rolled my eyes. "Oh shut up. I'm hiding all my muscle!"

He raised a brow. "Mhm."

I turned my head as I ignored him. I don't care what he had to say. I paused before sighing. "So... when do we look confront my dad?" I asked, glancing at Rylan.

He stiffened up for a second before setting his fork down.

"I don't think that's going to happen, Caspian."

My eyes widened. "What? Why not?!"

He sighed before resting his chin on his palm. "He's gone. I don't know why or how, but the apartment was empty. I checked on my way back from work."

I sat there for a second, trying to comprehend what this would mean. "So.... how do I get my payback?"

Rylan smiled. "We're still gonna find him. Don't worry. I've got all sorts of friends. They'll help me."

I was unsure at this point, but it was sort of useless. All I could do was rest my faith in Rylan's hands.

He picked up his fork and stabbed at his food once more before gesturing at my own plate.

I nodded as I continued eating, still thinking of my cowardly father.

If only mom didn't marry a man like him....

Lucas had been losing hope. They had searched for Caspian for days without end. It was like he had disappeared.

Even his uncle failed miserably, and he was their last shot. And because of that, the boss had been quite.... unusual. He snapped at the smallest mistakes, and seemed tired.

Of course, certain workers were alerted of Caspian's disappearance, but no trace was left behind.

Lucas tapped his pencil on his desk as he doodled on his paper, thinking of places he could've run to, until the door to his study bursted open.

"Someone might know something about Caspian!" Reaper explained, hope clear on his face. Lucas seemed shocked as he stood up, and followed Reaper.

Reaper led Lucas to the conference room, where a simple worker was standing silently.

Lucas and Reaper approached him, and a nervous smile stretched on his face.

"I think I know what happened to the boy you guys are looking for."

Lucas nodded, a small smile spreading. "Well, I know who might be involved, at least."

"Who?"

"There could be a worker that helped the boy escape...."

Lucas raised a brow. "A worker? Do you think someone would really help him and anger the boss?"

The man shook his head. "They could be clueless of the boss's.... actions."

Lucas turned his head. They had thought of this idea, but who didn't know of the company's true nature?

Who....

Lucas stood up and began to walk back to his study, his mind running wild as Reaper quickly followed him, hoping for any sort of lead that could help them on their pursuit.

Leonard silently watched, a smirk slowly cracking on his usually emotionless face.

Everything was working so perfectly. While everyone was looking for the boy, Leonard's group would strike, and easily win. The land and moneh would be their's. The boss would have nothing left.

It all worked too easily. They had been undercover for weeks, slowly planning, but it was going nowhere. Until he showed up.

He was a miracle in disguise!

Everything would be absolutely perfect, and he just needed to wait a few more days.
