"The movie was good" dhruv said while I was checking all the messages on my phone I simply hummed in response.
My mind was constantly thinking about today's operation. Last night I received a message from Arjun that there is nothing to worry and we can perform the operation today but I was still not convinced. I haven't performed such surgeries before and I am just scared of what if something wrong happens.
"Naina are you listening to me?" dhruv asked raising his eyebrows
"Yeah" I muttered
"Is everything alright?" He asked with a frown
"Yeah everything is fine" I assured, he passed a smile
"I was telling you that Alex is on a leave today so -" I interrupted him "no problem I take the cab"
"Will you listen to me" he snapped
I hummed in response
"Yeah so I will pick and drop you for today" he informed
"that's not needed dhruv I can take the cab" I said
"For once stop arguing with me and just say okay" he snapped at me
"Fine," I sighed. I was in no mood to fight with him now and Arguing is not so easy and that too with Mr. Dhruv Singhania it's becomes horrible
Both of us walked downstairs to have our breakfast
As we entered the dining hall, we saw Khyati already having her breakfast.
"Someone looks so happy today" dhruv remarked playful while sitting next to Khyati
"Yeah, look at that broad smile on her face" I added while sitting opposite to them
"Ofcourse I am happy and all thanks to both of you. Last night was so much fun" Khyati spoke with a cheerful smile
"Indeed" dhruv said while pouring the fruit juice in his glass
"The movie was good" Khyati said
"You slept in beginning of the movie it self" dhruv commented "you missed all of the intersting part of the movie"
"Let me remind, you slept immediately after Khyati slept" I added to which Khyati laughed
Last night was truly fun. I had to agree with Khyati. We were watching the movie and in the beginning Khyati fell asleep, after some time when I turned to see dhruv, he was already in a deep sleep. Both of them looked so cute while sleeping. Dhruv was sitting in the middle while Khyati 's head was on his shoulder, his one arm was wrapped around her waist and a throw that was barely covering them.
Since last night, one thing I was still unable to understand was the reason for Khyati 's nightmares. The fear and concern in Dhruv's eyes clearly told me that there was something bigger than my imagination. Khyati is the apple of his eyes.
I didn't even realise when we were done with our breakfast.
"Bye bhabhi" Khyati said while hugging me
"Bye" I said while hugging her back
After bidding bye to Dhruv she left for her college while I stood there waiting for his call to end. He was speaking to someone, I guess it was karan. They were discussing some important meeting. About 5 minutes after his call ended

"Sorry" he muttered while wearing his coat "no that's ok" I said

During the entire way he was on his phone. He looked slightly stressed, maybe it was about the meeting. I didn't mean to eavesdrop but I heard him saying that this deal was important to the company. While he was busy on his call, all I could think about was today's operation. I was silently praying that everything would go well today.
I got out of the car and I didn't realise when Dhruv too got out of the car.
"I am really sorry. It was an important call otherwise I wouldn't have picked it up " he sincerely apologise
"I understand" I mumbled with a smile
There was an awkward silence for a second as I didn't understand what to say. "Ok then, I will get going" I said
"No wait" he said in a High pitch, I frowned at him
"All the best for today," he said with an encouraging smile. It took a second for me to understand why he is wishing me luck, he remembers it. I myself faintly remember saying to him about today's operation but he remembers everything.
"Thank you so much" I said while trying hard not to blushing though I terrible failed at it
"Don't worry. I am sure everything is gonna be alright at end and the operation is going to successfully" he said while pecking my forehead
His every word filled me with courage and confidence, after whatever he said it felt like this is what I needed to calm myself, his support was all I needed. Right now I feel every doubt that I had, has vanished with his one kiss. For some reason I felt so touched by his small gestures and I hugged him, after realising what I did, I immediately pulled myself out of the embrace. I didn't want to be clingy but I couldn't stop myself.
"All the best to you as well" I said with a broad smile "I am sorry, I really didn't mean to eavesdrop your conversation"
He chuckled softly and spoke "thank you and I know you weren't eavesdropping"
I was about to speak when I heard my name being called by someone, I turned to see who it was there stood arjun with a broad smile
"Good morning naina" he said with a smile as he approached us
"Morning arjun!" I wished him back
"What a pleasant surprise Mr. Singhania!" Arjun said when he saw dhruv standing beside me
"I am glad you still remember me" dhruv spoke sternly
"Ofcourse, how can I forget you" arjun remarked
"You will never forget me Mr. Mehra" dhruv said while glaring at him
"I am getting late, see you in the evening naina" he added while looking at me

After three hours of surgery, I walked out of the operation hall with a soft smile, I could see the patient 's family members looking at me with eyes filled with tears while his wife was still sitting on one of the chairs that was placed outside the operation theatre, her eyes were closed, she was chanting something and her hands were trembling. I could see the fear in their eyes. As I approached them a young girl came running towards me, she held my hand and spoke looking at me "how's my dad now?" I slightly bowed to reach her height

"He is absolutely fine" as these words left from my mouth everyone stood there sighed in relief. The little girl immediately hugged me and sobbed on my shoulder, I rubbed her back to comfort her
The girl ran straight towards her mom and hugged her tightly, making her mom stop whatever she was chanting. As she opened her eyes she looked at me with tears just hoping that everything is fine "god has answered your prayers'' I mumbled to her
Fresh tears welled up in her eyes, she hugged her daughter back and placed a small kiss on her head "T-thank y-you so m-much d-doctor" his wife said in between her sobs
Giving her a soft smile I informed "You can meet him once he is shifted to the normal ward"
I walked towards my cabin giving the family some time and the moment I sat on my chair, my eyes welled up with tears. As a doctor all we pray for is the patients' well being.
I succeeded!! I was able to save his life. The joy on their faces was a scene to adore and I am very happy that the little girl didn't lose her dad.
Soon the time passed, it was time for me to leave. I didn't get any call from Dhruv. I expected that he would call but he didn't. He might be busy with his meeting and whatever he has done for me was more than what I expected.
"How was the operation?" Dhruv asked me when I got inside his car
"It was successful" I replied with a smile "and how was your meeting?"
"It's was great but they didn't finalized the things hopefully we get this project" he replied while he started to drive the car
"You will get this project" I said while looking at him
"You think so?" He asked
"I know so" I replied with a smile

Three weeks passed
Dhruv again started to come late, he sometimes even skipped his meals. We had breakfast together while talking about the day or any random thing. Khyati also got engrossed in her college but she made sure that she spoke to both of us at the end of the day. Dhruv became more concerned about Khyati. He would always check on her at midnight just to ensure that she is sleeping well. In the last three weeks Dhruv and my relationship Grew a little strong. He made sure to call me at least during the lunch time, Tyler picked and dropped everyday. Dhruv got so busy with his new project. I still remember the day when Dhruv called me to inform me that he got the deal, the excitement and the happiness in his voice. His work kept him so occupied that he didn't get time for himself. I was getting worried about his health because of his irregular sleeping and eating schedule.
I was waiting for him to return so I make sure that he eats his dinner on time. As a doctor I won't let him neglect his health.
"You didn't sleep till now" I could hear dhruv 's voice as he entered the house
"No I was waiting for you" I replied he hummed and walked away ignoring me
"Dhruv let's have dinner together today" I said trying to have a conversation with him but he was just walking upstairs maybe towards his study. Firstly he comes home late and then he spends all his time studying.
"I am not hungry naina" he said and walked upstairs with even looking back for once
He always says he is not hungry. Later he eats bread or something that's left and sleeps for hardly four hours.
I served a plate for him and took it to his study. As I entered the room I saw him totally engrossed in his laptop. He didn't even notice my presence, I cleared my throat to gain his attention.
"Naina I am busy" I said while not even looking at me
"I have been hearing to this line since three weeks dhruv try something new" I said playfully
"Naina why can't you understand I am busy for god sake" he said sternly
"Dhruv, you have been skipping your meal and you are not even sleeping properly. It's totally unhealthy and a person needs seven hours of sleep" I kept saying while he was still on his laptop. Placing the food on the table, I closed his laptop which made him look at me.
"Naina you are testing my patience now" he snapped
"Dhruv I am just asking you to take care of yourself. Work is not so important that you neglect everything for it. Since last few weeks you were so busy" I remarked
"Well, work is more important to me. Naina " he said while trying to act calm
I passed him the plate so that he could eat his dinner but he didn't take it. Instead he opened his laptop and started typing something furiously.
"Dhruv stop working and have your food" I ordered while closing his laptop again
He looked at me fiercely and stood up from his chair
"CAN'T YOU SEE I AM WORKING! I TOLD YOU I DON'T WANT TO EAT THEN FOR GOD SAKE STOP INTERFERING MY FUCKING LIFE. IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS IF I EAT OR NOT." he fumed, he was so loud that I was literally trembling, tears welled up in my eyes
Without saying a word I walked out of the study and ran to the bedroom. His every single word kept repeating in my head. He asked me to not interfere in his if this what he wants I won't. I shouldn't have cared for him.
I just layed down on the couch and after some time I so drowsy that I didn't realise when I slept
