《The Memorial Day Murders》Chapter 32 : A close call

"What is it?" I asked both men as they stood at the door connecting the cabin and cockpit.
"Dominic said that we're heading to Switzerland. What happened?" Luke asked, his expression showed hints of confusion.
"It's simple really." I said. "Jay cross-referenced the sniper's suppressor to a weapons manufacturing company owned by the Swiss."
"And Switzerland is our next location?" Richard asked.
"I'm going to meet my source in Switzerland." I declared. "Jean Pierre purchased the suppressor from an arms manufacturing company, my source has the information I need."
"But why are you so secretive of it?" Richard asked me as Jay walked in from a smaller cabin acting as Jefferson and his own makeshift analytics department.
"Because we're dealing with terrorists, rookie." Jay said, dropping a stack of papers on the desk. "You're new to the game because you weren't in boot camp."
"Jay, just brief them the full story." I said. "I have to look through your findings here."
"All right." Jay said. "The six of us are banded together for a reason, our job is to take out the Taliban fighters. We're called Elite Alpha because we are the best of the best in Burqa, the most popular military base in Afghanistan."
"Why the secrecy?" Richard asked, folding his arms. "You could've told us earlier."
"It's black ops Dick. You know how that works." Luke said.
"Luke is right rookie." Jay said with a sarcastic tone. "We mainly follow orders from our CO Lieutenant General Gerald Forest but actually he and another general, George Duncan share commanding duties. The general is in charge of our base, sent straight from The Pentagon."
"The real deal at Washington?" Luke asked, clearly surprised.
"What do you think?" Jay threw a glance at him. "It's the real deal."
"What did you guys even do to deserve this?"
"Pentagon gave us the wrong intel and we killed the wrong guy."
"Hold up, the op regarding the death of Sayyid Bin Masir is your dig?" Luke asked.

"Who's Sayyid Bin Masir?"
"For God's Sake, one of the most wanted terrorist in the world." the three of us looked up. My phone buzzed and I held up my phone to look at the message.
"My source is ready, he's drop us the info in a park in Geneva."
"Who's your source?" Jay asked.
"Swiss intelligence." I said. "Don't expect I'll tell you guys on who he is, it's my source."
"Your grandad is way cooler man." Jay said. "Being a South Korean Marine Corps vet."
"Yeah I know that." I said.
"Anyway, Sayyid Bin Masir was our initial target but since we accidentally killed his supposed 'twin brother' the real Sayyid sent forces after us."
"Seriously Isa, you're cool." Richard said.
"Yeah, I am aware." I said, flipping through the pages. "Jay, did Jefferson has info about the brother?"
"It's inside, we printed out our findings for you to read it. Initially I want to give Dom and Gerry but then they fell asleep, Olivia doesn't want to read it either."
"Not a problem Jay, take a shut-eye if you need." soon he departed, leaving the three of us in the cabin. "Anything on Bruce?" I asked.
"We're not dumb Isa." Richard piped up first. "Bruce can track our cellphone signals with a Wayne Tech satellite."
"Being blackops has it's drawbacks Richard." I say. "I have been through them enough to tell you this."
"Bruce mentioned that your mom's NIS." Luke pointed out.
"Yes, she is NIS."
"Your mom works with the South Korean intelligence agency?"
"You seemed surprised Richard." I said, tilting my head.
"I thought you're the only one working in the intelligence sector."
"One of my cousins also worked for the NIS." I said. "I worked for the CD under the IB in the FBI."
"Counterintelligence Division?"
"I worked as an analyst monitoring the business world that involved corrupt business people but that's just a small part."
"No big breaks?"
"Eh, I brought down the Venezuelean President with my partner."

"Christ, how?"
"Money trail, American business is involved, market expansion he quote." I said. "And I was nearly killed once when President Reagan is nearly assassinated, by DPRK guys."
"It wasn't on the papers."
"It was, Justin Hammer is still serving jail time." I explained. "But I believe that the Venezuelan news makes the main headline."
"Yeah, my dad even started to ponder on who did this." I smiled but maintained my silence.
"We're landing soon in Geneva." my uncle popped his head into the cabin.
Geneva, Switzerland (Hours later)
I drove the SUV to the designated park facing the International Cyber Policing Organization with Timothy, James and Dominic in tow. "You guys wait here." I said. "The drop won't be that long."
"You forgot that we are in danger right now?" Dom asked me. "You're crazy if you want to go it alone."
"I have my ways." I said, throwing on a baseball cap.
"But CYBERPOL's headquarters is just opposite the park." James protested.
"I knew that CYBERPOL is going to find me. But are we sitting ducks?" I said. Getting out I walked towards the park, pressing the cap low to avoid curious eyes. It's morning in Switzerland, evident as the joggers are running around the paved runways. Reaching a bench overlooking the building I sat down and waited, observing the tranquility of the lake and the building at the same time. I looked around for a security camera but someone sat at the space beside me. The person, a man, is wearing casual clothing with a baseball cap that, if not for the age, could be a college student.
"You're bold in asking me to meet you here." the man said in German. "Facing the CYBERPOL HQ."
"I know Switzerland's position as a neutral country." I say in German. "But that doesn't stop me from telling you that Sayyid Bin Masir is out there."
"I have the information you need." he said, taking out a file and sliding it to my side. "I've heard about the murder in the UK. Is he all right?"
"He's fine." I say. "He said that he is having an audience with the foreign secretary."
"Was this Bin Masir's warning?"
"I believe so." I said.
"Speaking of Bin Masir, there is a new attack carried out by him. A lone wolf attack on the embassy of your country at Kabul."
"Shit." I cursed. "Any info on our wolf?"
"Got the pelt, but the Americans won't tell us anything more."
"In the file?"
"In the file."
"My thanks director."
"Do you know where to start?"
"I don't know." I say. "But the info is sure going to tell us something."
"Be careful Isabella, I don't know why you have to do this but you need to be careful when facing Bin Masir."
"I'm not alone, fact is, I have a team with me." I say, standing up. "Have a good day." tucking the file I launched into a sprint but movement caught my eye. Turning back I spotted a well dressed man, looking at me through a pair of binoculars. Knowing who the guy was I turned and sprinted.
"Oh shit! Guys on me! I think I saw the vice president!" he shouted. Using a nearby rock I used it as a springboard, jumping up high and spinning in mid air. Taking a small cannister tucked into my jacket I pulled the pin and threw out the grenade. Making a landing my mom would surely be proud I lifted an arm to cover as the grenade emitted a flash of blinding light. Taking no chances I whirled and ran towards the vehicle and jumping into the backseat. Dom saw the commotion and flattened the accelerator.
"That was far too close." Timothy said. "Was that Allen?"
"Maybe, we need to get out of here." I say, looking behind through the windshield at the back. "How did they know I was here?"
"See I told you Madam Vice President." the agent said. "If he's gone in your place the exchange can't go any wrong."
"I doubt it. James could be already been identified by the White House. Not safe." I say. "Looks like the Alps is our only option."

Aytelia
A magical world embracing chaos as powerful entities and worlds fight for survival or power, observed by the "universals", a sentient species no one can fathom or reason with. As a lone girl wakes up in a large strange fountain, filled with other individuals in the same position such as herself, she lifts her drowsy head to find her surreal surroundings. What will happen to her in this world? Will she be able to find a place in it and will the mysteries behind her current circumstances be revealed? Why is she so different than those around her?
