《Pink and Yellow - Trimberly》Chapter 9

I spent the rest of the day at Kimberly's and had more fun than I've had in years. We talked, played games, and had the occasional awkward staring contest until both of us were exhausted. What were those moments of staring anyway? We would be obnoxiously loud then in a second, would be staring at each other intensely. Every time she looks at me, I feel something strange in my chest. It's crazy and I don't understand it.
It was around 11 at night before we decided we should get some sleep. The taller girl offered me to spend the night at her house and I gladly accepted. She slipped in her pajamas and threw me basketball shorts and a tank top. We climbed in her bed and wrapped up in the blankets. There was a bit of space between us that quickly disappeared.
This time, she rested her head in the crook of my neck and swung an arm around my front. I placed my arm over her shoulders and my other held her forearm. We fell asleep rather quickly in the comfortable position.

"I have a bunch of classes surrounded by idiots..."
"Oh, come on you'll survive."
"It's only Thursday! Why can't the weekend come sooner?" I complained.
"Just two more days, Trini." Kimberly chuckled.
"We have detention after this too. Ugh..."
"Only for two more days." She repeated.
We stood in front of my first period class waiting for a miracle to happen. I didn't have a choice to skip school today because one: I already skipped a day and fell behind and two: Kimberly Hart made me. The days always seem to take forever especially when there's no one to talk to behind the teacher's back.
The first period bell rang. "Fiiiine. I'm going in." I said dramatically.
"See ya when you get out of hell." The Pink Ranger waved and began to walk to her class.
"Probably not even gonna make it out!" I yelled as she turned the corner. I heard her laugh before I turned and opened the gates of he- first period.
As usual, I would hear the teacher talking for about 2 seconds then zone out. And for some reason I couldn't get my mind off of the Pink Ranger. No matter what I would think of it would always turn back to her. I'm just honestly so confused.

It was 3rd period when I asked to use the restroom only to escape the incredibly ridiculous lesson that's impossible to understand. Half of the teachers who you politely ask to slow down only go faster when teaching the lesson. I wasn't getting any of it so I excuse myself from the class and head to the bathrooms.
I open the bathroom door and immediately feel my jaw clench and my blood start to boil. The sight made
me so angry, I couldn't put into words.
Pinned against one of the stalls was the Pink Ranger. She was held by the 'I'm-too-cool-for-school' cheerleader and two of her friends stood smiling behind her. Together, they are absolute brats and think they own the damn place. Alone, they are powerless, weak, and cowardly.
Something switched inside me and the only thing I could see was the cheerleader pinning Kimberly in the not so friendly way. I knew she was bullied last year but I thought they stopped. Kimberly never mentioned any of them. Now seeing her pressed up against the stall was infuriating. I marched over and ripped the cheerleader off of the taller girl. I caught her mid sentence too. She was about to say something ugly about Kim before I interrupted.
I placed my forearm across her chest and slowly pushed her backward. Her friends ran over to the sides avoiding the potential of getting injured. "Leave her the fuck alone." I growled keeping my voice low and calm.
Once I pushed her against the sink, a wave of fear washed over her face but was covered up with a smirk. "What are you gonna do about it? Hmm?"
"Let's make a deal, yeah?" I said keeping the same low and calm tone. "You leave her alone... And I won't break every bone in you're fucking body. Understand me?"
"I'm really scared." She said sarcastically, rolling her eyes.
I grabbed her by the collar and pull her close so our foreheads were touching. "Don't come near her again, got it?! If you do I won't hesitate to throw some punches." I whispered.
She gulped and thats when I knew I won. "Ok..." She held her hands up in defeat and slowly escaped from my my grasp.
I let her go and she nodded her head to her other friends. They cautiously made their way out of the restroom leaving me and a jaw dropped Kimberly. I turned around and once I saw her, I felt another switch inside of me and my expression turned soft. My heart was beating heavily and she gave me a look that I couldn't interpret.

She glanced at my balled fists and took a step closer to me. Once she touched my hand it instantly relaxed into hers. We locked our fingers together never breaking eye contact.
"I'm really sorry those girls were bothering you. I honestly thought they stopped last year and I just got so mad that I didn't know sooner and that-"
She cut me off by wrapping her arms around my neck and pulling me closer in for a hug. It wasn't long before I wrapped my own arms around her waist. "You're insane." She breathed out.
I shivered due to her hot breath on my neck. "I think she deserved it. She's not gonna bother you again."
The hug broke and we both smiled like dorks at each other. Seriously, this staring is ridiculous. When we both realized we were still in school, we separated to our last class before lunch.
4th period took what seems like a year. I just wanted to see Kimberly again so badly. My leg was shaking uncontrollably and I fiddled with a pencil in my hand. I kept looking at the time which made it go by longer. I zoned out and remembered Kim's bullies. The thought of them makes me sick. The thought of them hurting the Pink Ranger in any way makes my blood boil.
Lunch finally rolled around and I rushed to buy my food. I took a seat outside on a picnic table, waiting for Kimberly to arrive. Once she did, she shot me a huge grin and sat down across from me. We stayed silent for a few minutes before I mirrored her grin.
"Why are you smiling like that?" I chuckled.
"Like what?"
"Like that."
"Just thinking how lucky I am to have a friend like you." She replied.
"Why thank you. You are pretty lucky." I winked earning a smirk from her.
"Full of ourself lately?" She said returning the flirtatious banter.
"Hey, I'm just repeating what you already said." I tiled my head. "I'm a freakin badass."
"Yes, but I think I knew that already."
"Did you reaaally...?"
"You just threatened the poor girl you'd break every bone in her body if she came near me. I'm debating between hot or badass... Or both." She shrugged on the last words.
"Me? A hot badass?" I raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Damn, Kim."
She returned the smirk. "Damn, Trini."
-
"Because you two skipped yesterday for whatever reason - I do not want excuses - You fell behind in the project that you were already behind in. I should give you a medal."
Miss Norris stood up from her desk with a few papers in her hand. She walked over to Kimberly's and placed two sheets of paper on it. When she got to me, she did the same. I looked down at the papers and read the title:
Way to be blunt. The long paragraphs below it were the directions on how to set up the project. We had to make a board and a powerpoint. I read all the way to the bottom and saw the due date. It was Friday... Tomorrow.
"Holy shit it's due tomorrow." I hear Kimberly whisper.
"That's right, Miss Hart. I've given both of you some mercy but no more. I suggest you go home and work on the project together. And I don't care if it takes all night. This project is important and is worth more than half of your grade."
The fuck? There's no chance we would get this done in less than 24 hours. It's Biology. Any assignment in Biology will take at least a few days. I glanced at the Pink Ranger, doubting we could possibly do this in the little amount of time we have.
"You have to work together. That means good communication. I signed you two as a pair because I know you will work well together. I believe you can get this done."
"What happens when we don't finish it?" I ask.
"What happens if you don't finish it? I don't think you'll like you're grade afterwards." The teacher replied.
I sighed and put my head on the desk. "Shiiiiiiiiiit."
"Again, you girls can finish this. Both of you are certainly capable." Miss Norris looks at her wristwatch. "You are dismissed."
