Lulu was away all weekend to start promoting her film. She went to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland and Malibu in the span of two days, going from interviews to photoshoots with no breaks for forty eight full hours.

She didn't use her phone at all and never once had the time to pick up my phone calls, go on instagram or read the dozen text messages sent by Fezco. She didn't know that Milla started following her on social medias and that her sister had the best weekend ever with Max.

When Lulu arrived at school, she just expected to blend in with the crowd, knowing she wouldn't be called out for missing a few classes. She wasn't a very brilliant student because, frankly, she didn't care much about grades. She already knew what she wanted to do with her life and graduating high school wasn't a necessary step in her career accomplishment.

She frowned when she noticed Principal Hayes walking out of his office as she walked past the secretariat, "Lulu Jenson, would you please come into my office? I would like to have a chat with you."

"Uh, yes, sure," she hesitated before following him inside the room, "I'm sorry for skipping the first classes, I've been—"

"Don't worry about that," Hayes interrupted, "Your agent warned me you'd probably have to take a few days off to promote the movie. Congratulations, by the way, I've seen a lot of articles about it, it seems like a big deal."

"Oh, yeah alright, uh, well thanks," Lulu replied with a smile.

"The reason I called you in is because I think an incident took place at the carnival, this weekend," Hayes explained, "An incident involving one of your friends, Madeleine Perez."

Lulu gave him a confused look, "I'm sorry, what? What incident? I—I was with her for a moment and... and everything was fine. Is she okay?"

"Don't, don't worry, she's... okay," Hayes reassured, "It's just... we just think she's been abused at the carnival and I'm looking for informations. Did you see anything?"

"Abused?" Lulu repeated as a lump formed in her throat, "What? But... by who?"

"That's what we're trying to figure out," Hayes replied, "Do you think Nate Jacobs would have anything to do with it?"

Now, Lulu didn't like Nate that much. He never really did anything to her, except all the times he tried to get nudes. Like, seeing her naked seemed to obssess him a lot. But, yeah, apart from that, Nate never messed too much with Lulu.

Probably because he considered her powerful or some shit. Because... well, she is actually really good at something and is going somewhere with her life. And that is something Nate Jacobs respects.

"I don't know..." Lulu said, "I didn't see anything and no one told me so..."

But Lulu knew about the dick pics in Nate's phone. Maddy told her and Cassie at the carnival. She also knew Maddy made them promise to keep their mouths shut about it.

So she did.

"Alright... are you sure?"

"Well, yeah," Lulu said, "But... can I see Maddy?"

"Oh, I'm sorry but she went to the police station with her family," Hayes informed, "So, she won't be attending school for the rest of the day."

Lulu nodded, feeling somehow helpless, and rose to her feet as she quickly reached the door, being cut out by the Principal, "If you ever hear anything, please inform me first."

"Will do," Lulu replied before quickly walking away, grabbing her phone to text Maddy.

But Maddy never texted Lulu back. And Lulu spent her day with Rue and Jules, feeling a sort of tension between the two she hadn't caught back at the carnival. She could tell something was off but she would have never guessed it had everything to do with Nate Jacobs.

Lulu was startled when she saw her mother sound asleep in the living room when she got home after school. Ever since Kris started disappearing with this weird guy, she would come home in the middle of the night and be gone before Lulu or Zahia woke up.

Kris looked awful. Her skin was unusually pale and her chapped lips looked more grey than light pink. Even asleep, it was easy to pick on the large bags under her eyes and a few wrinkles seemed to have appeared in the last couple of weeks.

Lulu pulled a blanket over her mother's body and locked herself in her room, dreading the moment they would fight again.

Because Lulu knew something else was about to tear this family apart. For a second time. But the young girl didn't have the courage nor the energy to investigate the matter right now.
