from the same exit I had gone through when I had first run from this place. He had a billion other exits in his house, even on the top floors, which made zero sense to me but, oh well.

"Not a lot of people come over to this part of the city... we're basically on the outskirts I guess you could say," he said, making his way through the trees.

"Does the government know about your kind?" I asked jogging to keep up with his long strides.

"Not the human government but, we've got some mingled in with them, in case something happens on our side, we gotta cover it up somehow right? It'd be a real bother if we had to deal with human bullshit. The second they find about us, they'd probably go nuts and shoot up the place."

"Hey! You can't get mad at that! It's completely logical! I mean... You are scary.," I said

He stopped suddenly making me bump into him, and I frowned. He turned around and faced me. "How's that logical? Killing someone because they're scary? So you wouldn't mind if someone shot your best friend because of what she is?"

He rolled his eyes and continued walking, "That's... not what I meant!"

"This is why I can't fucking stand humans. I mean just look at how you describe us... if we're that bad you'd all be extinct by now."

"I got it. I got it." I said sighing. He's completely right. I'm not trying to sound like a stuck-up bitch, I just... That's the only way I know them by- being monsters. Every fantasy book I've read, every show I've watched since I was younger, I guess you can say this is how I've been programmed to think about them.

I want to say it's not true- or maybe I don't. Part of me doesn't want to believe that someone like him can be a good guy, he doesn't even believe that, how can I when he treats me like-

He stopped walking, pulling me from my thoughts and I looked around at the familiar scenery- This was the street that I'd caught that taxi on...

He pointed toward the direction of the city, "that's the city, there's some of my kind living blended in with humans but..." He pointed in the opposite direction toward the forest.

"That's where we live... This part- it's kind of like a border."

"Oh..."

He nodded before reaching out for my hand, "You might want to hold on to me for this."

"Huh? Why..?"

He grabbed me and jumped up, catching me off guard and I screamed. I clung to him tightly as I looked down under us- we were almost floating mid-air.

"Do you see it?" He asked, pointing off into the air.

"What? See what?" I asked, barely looking. I didn't want to move, I was too afraid that I might fall.

"Look, Isabella." He said, sighing. "I'm not going to drop you."

I turned my head and looked in the direction where he was pointing but I couldn't see a single thing. "Umm...What am I supposed to look at exactly?" I asked confused

"The reflection... the light is reflecting off this wall here." He said pointing at nothing.

"What...? What wall?"

"Just pay closer attention! It's pretty much almost non-existent, but if you focus, you can see the barrier."

"The barrier...?" I said questioningly, my eyes widened as I saw it appear right in front of me. It looked like one of those force fields that you'd see in a sci-fi movie. It was completely transparent, but the light from the sun bounced off of it and shone in my face.

"Do you get it?"

"Uhh... So it's like a gate to your own neighborhood?"

"What? No..." He said, shaking his head, "It's entirely different from what's on the other side."

"W-Whaat?! The demon... world is on earth??"

"What'd you expect?"

"I don't know...Mars!"

"You really are stupid, after all this I expected you to just throw away everything you've read in fiction."

"B-but.. how doesn't anyone know about this??"

"Well... humans can't just enter here. It's not a different world but a different realm so to speak," he explained.

"But the taxi man..."

"Yes, he was not human. Which is why you can't ever leave that house. You're lucky you didn't get devoured that time. The human side is the human realm or light realm and where we are now is the demon real... or dark realm."

"So if you guys have your own world, why do you even need to go to the city?"

He scoffed, "Well, you can't expect us to just not go there. Besides, it's pretty fun. I have my club, the ladies, you know... also, you can't expect every half-blood to just ditch their families."

"Half-bloods? They're half-human... half-demon right?"

"Yes. Their blood consists of both. Although a pure-blood can't impregnate a human. The baby would end up killing its mother. Pure-bloods can only mate with other pure-bloods. Half-bloods are essentially humans that have been infected by a demon of some type. Hence why all werewolves are half-bloods."

"What about the others? Like Fairies, Elves, Witches...Vampires...Devils."

"There's no such thing as a half-blooded devil. Devils are a completely different race and entity. They're on a much larger scale than the rest of us. The reason why so many people call us purebloods that, is because of the reputation we set for ourselves. During the old days when my race was much more thriving and there were far more than us than four, we ruled not just the dark realm you see but some of us used to torment over the light realm as well. Hence the name and why you have your popular fairy tales."

"So you're a..."

"Pureblood vampire, yes."

"What's the difference between you and a half-blood vampire?"

"They're very similar but they have different levels of power and restrictions. Half-blood vampires cannot walk underneath the sunlight- they're nocturnal. I don't have that problem as you can see. Another thing, half-bloods aren't subject to needing blood to survive. They can feed off of livestock and animal blood- in the eyes of a pure-blood that blood might as well be filthy water, in other words, undrinkable."

"Will I... turn into a half-blood vampire?"

"Probably...that's if you let me fuck you."

I blushed and looked away from him, "Don't say crude things like that so casually!"

He sighed, "You really change up quickly."

"Hey... can I see your world?"

He shook his head, "Absolutely not. At Least not yet. Even now, there's a chance someone might sniff you out. Only until you let me claim you as mine, will I even consider that an option for you. Until then... you will stay inside my house."

"You're cruel... That's unfair!"

"I gave you a second chance at life. Don't go calling me names."

"Can you at least go back down to the ground?" I asked and he did.

"One more thing..." He said as we started heading back.

"What...?"

"Time moves slower in this world, which is one of the reasons we live so long... but, if you're not careful and you switch over to the other side of the barrier so often in that fragile state your life is in right now, you'll shorten it."

My eyes widened, "Then right now?"

He nodded, "You've probably shortened your time."
