《Eris, the Alpha of silence.》Chapter 34

The battle had started.

Shortly after informing the King who in turn informed the other packs under his rule, the first move was made by him.

He sent an army of weirdly shaped creatures. They were more decomposed than functioning yet they seemed to have unlimited strength, the scent of a werewolf lingered around them yet they didn't seem to be able to shift.

Unsuccessful experiments, she decided.

They attacked a big pack near Eris's first and then two others in her surrounding, she immediately sent a part of her warriors to the packs joining them as well, even though she wanted to send her Beta or her Gamma , she knew she couldn't rip them from their mates so fast, after learning that Calysta met her mate, she refused to send her in harms way, she wanted to avoid it as much as possible. As long as she could handle it herself with her warriors she wouldn't disturb the newly formed couples.

An interesting fact that swarmed through her mind was that Hades and Ezra seemed to have vanished, she couldn't feel them through their bond, her only solace was the fact that she didn't feel a tinge of pain from their side which was good enough for her.

She turned and slit the throat of a creature trying to sneak up on her with her claws, she didn't shift yet.

The battle was easy, too easy.

As powerful as they were, they seemed to die easily, she noticed she couldn't wound them anywhere on their bodies besides their throats, it seemed their only weakness.

Her eyes wandered across the fighting warriors of her pack and the other's, they seemed to be handling themselves pretty well yet she was unsettled.

She couldn't understand why they attacked that packin particular, it's size was decent enough and their ranking was somewhat near the top packs, they had strong warriors, a dangerous Alpha and a powerful witch for a Luna.

It just seemed stupid and she knew that he was many things but stupid wasn't one of them.

The warriors from both packs on the field only had a few scratches on their bodies, a insignificant number had deeper wounds but none were deadly, she shook her head unhappily.

It was a distraction.

She glanced at the fighting Alpha and his eyes snapped to hers, they came to a silent understanding , she nodded and turned to leave, watching the Alpha killing the creatures that surrounded him with ease.

She ran straight to her pack which was still intact to her dismay.

It meant that something bad was happening, something much more dangerous than an attack on her pack which she knew they would be able to overcome.

She went straight to Beta Axis's room and opened the door, unbothered by the lack of care she was showing.

He and Lancia could've been fucking for all she cared. She was on a mission much more important than their coupling at the moment.

She dragged a sleep hazed Beta to the office, opening her mind and granting him access she showed him her thoughts while pushing him on a chair.

"They have attacked three out of the four surrounding packs to ours, Alpha, you are indeed right, it is a distraction, it looks like they're not targeting certain packs. They don't care for them." He spoke while running his hands over his face, trying to rid himself of the deep slumber he was in just a few seconds ago, he wasn't angry by the fact that his Alpha woke him. After all he was a Beta before anything.

The door to her office was slammed open by none other than the magenta eyed male.

"They have infiltrated the Night Gales pack, Goddess." He exclaimed while trying to understand what was happening he knew that a war was brewing and that was why his Goddess let him out early. The joy of finding his mate still lingered in his head yet her safety was much more important at the moment.

"What is happening?" He murmured while tugging at his hair stressed.

A sudden thought passed through her mind in that moment and it all started making sense to her, her eyes turned cold and her stance rigid, how could she have been so careless. It seemed that meeting her mates starting messing with her mind, she wasn't as sharp as she used to be.

The Night Gales pack was the last one surrounding hers.

She grabbed a piece of paper and started writing on it quickly.

Call the Alphas.

It was a simple short sentence yet her Beta started calling them immediately, obviously none of them answered directly but their Beta's did, only one of them was unreachable.

His eyes snapped to his Alpha's after the last phone call.

His Alpha trained him for moments like those, he already knew what should be done before even asking.

He mindlinked the pack, telling them to go on lockdown, he made sure each and every member was awake and readying themselves for battle, they all knew what they had to do and their positions, he made sure of that, before shutting the link down completely.

The sound of gates closing could be heard from the barely opened window in her office.

"We have a problem." He exhaled while moving behind her desk, he pulled one of the drawers, reaching a hand inside he pressed his palm against a sensor and a door opened behind them leading them to the Alpha's hidden room.

"One of the Alpha's didn't answer." He started.

"In the other two packs, the Beta's answered." He continued while grabbing two whip laced in silver, they were his weapons of choice. Always have been. He wrapped them tightly around his hands towards his forearms, he was trained from a young age to be immune to the burning the silver should bring him.

Magenta eyes and Eris both stood back and watched him, he reached inside a frame and pulled out a golden bow and a set of blood red arrows before thrusting them into magenta eyes's hands.

"Those are yours, I believe." He muttered.

He turned to his Alpha and studied her. He knew that she already figured out what was happening.

"As you already know, Alpha, you were right, they are trying to surround us silently while dividing our groups and distracting us. They are smart, too smart." He spoke while glancing at her, he didn't know what they were or who they were, hell, he didn't even know started the war and .

"The only problem is that when I called the Beta's I was expecting them to describe the same thing that you showed me, the same creatures, when I asked them, but-" He moved away from her path so she could go and open her other room to which he did not have access.

"-both of them described advanced forms of those creatures, each better than the other." He finished and watched his Alpha, studying her reaction.

She thought about how it all started to make sense and she knew now what he was doing.

He was mocking her.

The failed experiments she saw, their strength, their only weakness.

The dots connected.

He was trying to play with her mind, he knew what he was doing exactly. She herself was deemed a failed experiment once.

Axis's eyes widened and magenta eyes stood still at her expression.

"Goddess, why are you-?" He was stopped mid sentence.

He knew what that expression on her face meant yet the Beta did not, it seemed.

She smirked and her eyes turned magenta.

"Fuck." He breathed softly.

He staggered backwards and Axis watched in awe.

In that moment, Calysta and Lancia finally made their appearance, they tried to enter the room, only to be stopped by a invisible force.

They went to the Alpha's office because Lancia sensed distress and awe from her mate and Calysta felt her mate's loyalty and shock shine brightly, it truly was a weird feeling for her, she couldn't comprehend why he was expressing loyalty and shock or to whom, rather.
