Summary: Wilbur wants King Dream gone, and Techno is the most able person to do it. But will his relationship with the Princess get in the way?
A/n: Hey guys! Just want to say in case anyone didn't see I'm no longer taking requests on here, and it's most likely that any requests that have already been sent will be ignored sorry. Although if you do really want to request go over to my Tumblr because I'm still taking requests on there and doing anons!
Also, I noticed a few comments on my last long chapter about how it's hard to read longer things because of issues like dyslexia. I myself struggle with ADHD and dyslexia and I try to shorten paragraphs and space them out to make it easier for you guys and me! If anyone has any more advice on how I can make this easier to read please lmk :)
Also, I'm really sorry about how this fic heavily revolves around she/her pronouns, I just really struggled to write this. I'm not that proud of it but oh well :)

"Technoblade." Wilbur's monotone voice says from behind me, causing my feet to stop moving.
I was currently walking out of L'manburg, or what was left of it at least.
"Wilbur." I turn to face him, giving my brother a slight nod. I can barely believe he did it. He actually clicked the button. L'manburg was gone.
"We did it. It's gone for good." He smirks and pats my shoulder, the madness that had adopted his eyes lately was still as prominent as ever.
"We did. We can rest now." Deep down that's all I've ever wanted. No more wars, no more fighting, no more death. I just want to live my life free with my family.
I'd gained my freedom now, but I'm afraid that my family's never been so torn apart.
"Rest?! Are you mad! We took down one government, what's stopping us from taking another? King Dream has been in reign for far too long."
I just look at him in shock for a second before shaking my head "Wilbur no. Dream's an ass but he's an ally. He hated the L'manburg government just as much as we did, even if it was for other reasons. Plus I barely won our last battle, I'm not risking my life again."
"Who said we're battling Dream?" He throws his arm around my shoulders and starts to walk towards the huge castle that looks over all of the lands.
He points towards the top of one of the left towers and smiled at me.
"Up there is the only thing in this whole world that Dream has ties to. The only thing he'll let his front down for. The only thing that could possibly cause his downfall. His sister." He laughs menacingly and I look up at the tower.
It's too far away and dark to make out anything properly, but I can vaguely see the outline of someone leaning out of one of the small windows.
"What does Princess Y/n have to do with anything?" I ask, tearing my glance away from the silhouette. I couldn't stop myself from getting slightly defensive.
"Dream would lose it if she died. He'd be angry but also grieving. Meaning he'll start a fight that he can't finish." His hand rummages through his trench coat pocket before presenting me a dagger.
"If you killed her with this he'll know it was us." He grins at me and claps a hand onto my shoulder again "Techno you'll never be truly free until Dream is gone. Me and you both know that."

I clench my jaw and take the dagger from his hand with a slight nod.
He nods back and starts to walk away, towards the rubble of what was once L'manburg.
He was right, there is one person left who has any power over me. Dream. And maybe killing Dream would gain me back some of Tommy's trust again.
I slip the dagger into my boot and sneak around to the back of the castle. Hiding behind bushes, walls, or trees to try and stay out of the eyesight of the castle guards, Ant, and Ponk.
The most skilled guards in the castle are Sapnap and Bad Boy Halo but due to their friendship with the king, they are most likely guarding his quarters of the castle. They are my biggest threat.
Then Ponk and Ant are the next most threatening. They're always stationed outside of the castle to make sure no one got in. I can probably beat them in combat easy enough but they would alert others. So it's easier and safer to just avoid them.
Then the smallest threat left is the Princesses guards, Karl and Callahan. Callahan is skilled but lacks training so he isn't that hard to beat, and Karl is even easier to defeat. The only reason their hired is due to having close friendships with the Princess.
Rumour has it that Dream refused to hire Karl to start with, claiming he was too weak and foolish to protect the princess. He actually contacted me to try and offer me the job. It wasn't my kinda thing but Princess Y/n and I had always had an unspoken friendship so I took the job for a short period.
It was shortly after the time that Philza had left. Tommy and Wilbur had left a long time ago together so I didn't think it would be that hard but after two days of living alone, I couldn't stand it. The voices were too loud without anyone to quiet them down, so I took the job for a few weeks.
I enjoyed it. I enjoyed spending time with the princess. She was calming, she made everything feel safer.
Her presence quieted the voices. Instead of telling me to hurt anyone they were telling me to protect her.
It was different but nice.
Although, Sapnap spent months trying to persuade Dream to hire Karl. So Dream got me to train him.
After Karl's training was complete Dream let me go. I found myself spending all day in my cottage alone, trying to read or train to try and quiet my own mind.
The highlights of my weeks were the days that Y/n would walk down to give me gifts like flowers and homemade baked goods. She'd often stay a while, asking me to read to her or tell her tales of my adventures.
And then Schlatt won the election.
Dream banned her from leaving the castle due to it being unsafe. Schlatt had taken a liking to her and Dream wasn't a fan.
To start with I was angry, I marched into the castle to demand that Dream allowed her to see me again but I soon realised it was for the best.
She was safer there. I didn't like the way Schlatt looked at her either.
And then Wilbur and Tommy came to me for help, we moved into Pogtopia and I realised that even my visits to the castle would become too dangerous.
So I stopped.
I haven't seen her since Tommy and Wilbur's exile.
And now I find myself scaling the castle walls to sneak into her room.

~Switch to Y/n's pov~
I'm still leaning over one of my room's windows.
I must've been here for hours now.
The smell of gunpowder and fire is burning my nose and I'm hiding my face in my hands, unable to contain my worry anymore.
Nobody seems to know what's happening and I can't stand it.
For the last couple of hours, I could vaguely hear the chaos and see the occasional explosion and sparks of fire over the trees. But it went quiet about ten minutes ago. Somehow that's more worrying.
Dream left with Sapnap and Bad to go and watch the chaos, both me and Karl had begged them to take us but Dream said it was too risky for me to go and Karl had to stay with me.
I didn't want Dream to go since it was dangerous, he might be good at combat but I'm always scared that one day he'll pick a fight he can't win.
As well as worrying for Dream all day I'm obviously concerned for the people of L'manburg. As a princess, my kingdom and its people are always my biggest priority. And even though L'manburg is out of my kingdom's walls I still worry for the innocent people who are forced into a war due to a political conflict.
And then a part of me is also concerned for Techno. Like my brother, he is notorious for his combat skills but I know for a fact once he gets home there will be no one there to tend to his wounds, and that would hurt him more than a sword.
I'm still mad at him for vanishing for months with no goodbye, but I understand his reasons.
I do miss him though.
Suddenly Karl bursts into my room, making me jump at the sudden movement.
"Y/n their back!" He smiled at me and grabs my hand to lead me out of the room.
We both excitedly run down the halls to get to the main entrance room of the castle.
Once Karl opens the door he drops my hand to run over to Sapnap.
He throws his arms around him and they hold each other in a tight embrace before Karl starts rambling about how he's stupid to have gone and asking about Quackity.
I notice Dream in the corner of the room, talking to Bad while removing his mask.
"Dream!" I yell running over to him. Holding my arms out.
He smiles at me and pulls me into a long hug.
"Nice to see you too." He laughs lightly and ruffles my hair before pulling back.
"Nice to see you Princess." Bad says from next to him, also smiling at me.
"Nice to see you too Bad, also you know you don't have to call me princess. I'm Y/n to family. Anyway what happened? Is everyone okay?" I ask the two of them, a worried look on my face.
"Schlatt's dead. No one even needed to kill him he drank himself to death. Died alone and scared, like he deserved." Sapnap says from behind me. Coming over to us now with his arm around Karl's shoulders. It was no secret that Sap wasn't Schlatt's biggest fan.
"That's awful," I say with a slight frown. No matter all the terrible things he's done no one deserves to die like that.
"After what he did to Quackity I'm upset I didn't get to do the job myself," Sapnap says with a frown, but his words earn him a light slap to the chest from Karl.
"L'manburg's gone as well, Wilbur blew it up after handing Tubbo the presidency." Dream says casually, turning his attention mainly to tightening the bandage around his hand.
"Wilbur did? He was the founder though. Why would he do that?" I ask, giving him a confused look.
Dream just shrugs and moves on to cleaning his mask that was now covered in ash. It was obvious he was bored of the conversation.
"Everyone's fine though N/n. Even Techno and Wilbur got out of there okay." Bad says while giving me a reassuring smile.
"Yeah well after what Techno did I'm shocked they let him leave. It's half his fault." Sapnap says with a little shrug.
"What did he do?" I ask, looking between Bad and Sapnap, worrying again.
Sapnap goes to answer my question but Dream cuts him off.
"Karl please escort Y/n back to her room, it's been a long day and we all need some rest. I'm sure Callahan and Bad can take the night shift tonight so you and Sapnap can go home to see Quackity." He says, swiftly changing subject.
Karl nods and Sapnap kisses the top of his head before releasing him and allowing him to guide me out of the room.
"What do you think Sapnap was talking about?" I ask, glancing behind my shoulder as if it could help me hear what the others were saying.
"I don't know, I'm sure Dream doesn't want you to know for a reason." He smiles at me and I nod in response.
We walk back to my room and I give him a quick hug before saying my goodbyes. He was rushing over his words so he can get back to Sapnap and Alex quicker.
I wave him off and say a brief hi to Callahan who's sat outside my room like normal. He just waves and smiles, his way of a happy greeting without any words.
I walk into my room, closing the door behind me. Even though I wasn't a part of today's madness it still stressed me out and I want nothing more than to get into bed.
I wander over to my wardrobe to switch my dress out for a jumper and joggers combo instead.
I climb into bed and close my eyes, enjoying the comforting warmth from my blankets.
I was close to falling asleep when a noise from my window startles me. I sit up and pull my blanket closer to me, as if the warmth would protect me.
I debate calling out for Callahan but it's probably my own imagination.
I calm myself back down and just as I was about to lay back down I hear the noise again.
I sit back up and walk towards my door to get Callahan. I stop walking though when I notice a head of pink hair appears from under my window.
"Technoblade?" I whisper yell towards the window. Not wanting to alert Callahan of his presence.
I walk over and offer my hand out to help pull him up.
"Hey." He says with an awkward smile, brushing off his clothes as he steadied himself.
"Hi. What are you doing here? Are you hurt?" I quickly scan my eyes over his face, he seems to be okay.
He shakes his head and laughs at my concern "No I'm fine."
"Why are you here then?"
He swallows and looks down at my floor.
"I'm not quite sure. I guess I miss you." He chuckled lightly and rubs the back of his neck. A habit he does every time he's put in a scenario that makes him anxious.
I laugh and smile at him, I miss him too. I look down at his hand that is still holding mine from when I pulled him into the room.
His hand is covered in bruises, red marks, and small cuts. Dream has taught me that carrying a heavy sword for too long does that to you.
"Your bleeding," I say, pulling his hand up so he can see it.
"Oh yeah. That happens a lot, don't worry." He squeezes my hand and just smiles casually.
"No I'm going to worry, it's my job." I laugh lightly and lead him over to sit on my bed.
I go to grab my little first aid kit to bandage his hand. I'm used to doing this for Dream, he's constantly living with bandages on his hands at this point. George doesn't appreciate it much.
I sit back down next to Techno and take one of his hands to bandage. I quietly hum to myself to break the silence as I focus on making sure that the bandage is tight and in the right place.
"So you broke into a heavily guarded castle straight after fighting in a literal war because you miss me?" I ask, laughing lightly at the stupidness of it.
"I guess so. I don't really know why I came." I look up at his face. He looks like he was lying. I raise an eyebrow but decided not to push it.
"You can stay if you want. I know that Phil didn't come home, and no one should be alone after an event like today." I look back down at his hand, slightly embarrassed at my offer.
He stays quiet for a second, probably feeling more awkward than me.
"I'd like that."
I nod and continue to bandage his hands.
Once I finish I get up to put my first aid kit away.
"I'd stay up so we could talk but it's been a long day and I'm assuming you're more exhausted than me." I smile at him and walk back over to my bed that he is still sat on.
He nods and stands up, walking to the armchair in the corner of the room.
"Your right we can catch up in the morning."
I try not to laugh as he tries to get comfy in my little armchair, obviously too big for it.
"Tech my bed huge, you can just sleep on that side rather than an armchair," I say with a little laugh, gesturing for him to come over.
He hesitates for a second "You sure? I don't want to intrude."
"Yes I'm sure, now come on it's late."
He nods and walks back over, getting under the covers next to me.
"Night Techno." I say, pulling the blankets closer to me.
"Night princess."
~ Time Skip ~
I wake up to the feeling of someones fingers running through my hair.
I furrow my eyebrows and look around the room in confusion.
Somehow during the night, I shifted over to Techno's side of the bed. I must've hugged onto him because currently my arms were around his middle and my head was resting on his chest.
My cheeks burn and I would've gotten up to apologise but I decide to just enjoy the peace and spare myself some embarrassment for a bit longer by pretending to be asleep.
We both lay there for at least another ten minutes before a knock at my door causes me to jump.
"Y/n breakfast is ready, your brother sent me to escort you," Karl says in his normal cheery voice from the other side of the door.
"Shit," I whisper to myself before jumping up and getting out of bed.
"I'll be right there Karl just give me a second!" I yell through the door and run to my wardrobe to find something.
I glance over my shoulder to see techno chuckling to himself, still lying in bed like before.
"Get up, you need to leave," I whisper yell, tossing his shoes towards him.
he nods and gets up, collecting his stuff as he goes.
I gather my outfit for the day and throw it on my bed, quickly going to brush through my hair.
My hurried morning routine was paused for a second when I feel Technos arms wrap around me from behind.
"Meet me at the sunflower patch just out of the castle at one. We can actually catch up then."
I nod and turn around so I can hug him back.
"Alright, be careful trying to sneak out. Don't get yourself arrested or worse killed."
He laughs lightly and presses a kiss to the top of my head.
"Don't worry, Technoblade never dies baby."
I roll my eyes and laugh lightly.
I push his chest slightly towards the window and smile up at him.
"See you later Tech."
He just smiles and gives me a slight nod before climbing out of the window.
I quickly get changed before opening my bedroom door to be greeted with Karl leant against the wall.
"Morning Y/n." He smiles at me and we both started walking down the corridor.
"How was Quackity?" I ask, looking over at him, Quackity is Sapnap and Karl's other fiancé. According to Karl he used to be with Schlatt and wasn't treated great.
I've never met Quackity but Karl and Sapnap are like family to me and Dream so that makes Quackity family as well.
"Well Schlatt's death took a bit of a toll on him, but I think overall he was kinda relieved that that chapter of his life is over." Karl smiles slightly, he is always happy to talk about his fiancé's.
"That's good, once again he's always welcome to visit the castle. I can't believe we've been friends for this long and you haven't introduced me." I laugh lightly and nudge his shoulder.
"I promise I'll bring him to the next party Dream throws. You do know I'm technically working right? I can't just bring him here." He rolls his eyes at me.
"Yeah I know you're my babysitter, no need to bring it back up." We both laugh and he opens the door that leads into the dining room.
Dream is sat next to George with Bad on his other side. Sapnap is then sat opposite George, leaving two empty seats to the left of him for me and Karl. Callahan, Ant, and Ponk are probably back at their own homes since they were working the night shift.
I take the seat opposite Bad and let Karl sit next to Sapnap.
Everyone is chatting and eating. No one seems stressed or worried about anything and it's a nice change for once.
Breakfast used to consist of what was happening in the day, things like how Dream would bargain with Schlatt or Wilbur to stop the war. Or battle tactics. And possibly the worse ones were the ones where everyone sat in a somber silence because someone was missing from the table, due to the fact that they were preoccupied in the recovery room. Resting and trying to overcome the pain of fresh wounds.
