I stirred awake, somehow unable to drift off properly.
The clock on the wall read 5am but yet the space next to me was still empty.
I frowned to myself as I climbed out of bed, pulling one of Schlatt's sweaters over my head for warmth.
I headed down the hall towards my husbands office, quietly leaning on the doorframe just incase he'd fallen asleep.
Much to my dismay he was still up, scribbling something down on a piece of paper and cursing quietly as he knocked his flask over onto it.
"Schlatt, come back to sleep.." I murmured sleepily, holding my arms close for warmth from the coldness of his office.
"I have an early meeting in Pogtopia." He responded while grabbing a new paper to start again, the old one too wet to be readable.
"It's still dark outside." I commentated while walking over to him, wrapping my arms around his shoulders to hug him from behind.
"I know.. I just need to write something down.." his scribbling stopped as he leant into me, eyes shutting slightly as he relaxed for the first time in hours.
"Why do you work like your running out of time? Come back to bed with me, the meeting can wait." I kissed his cheek with a soft smile, removing the flask from his hand slowly.

He hushed me slightly and shook his head "I'll be back before you know I'm gone." He opened his eyes again to look up at me, eyes tracing the frown lines on my face.
"Come back to sleep-"
He cut off my words by leaning forward out of my arms, standing as he pinched the bridge of his nose.
"This meetings at dawn, I'm president. My meetings can't just wait." He sighed as he gathered his papers into a bag, chewing his lip. A give away sign the stress was getting to him.
"Well I'm going back to sleep." I said as I turned to leave the room, the knowledge that I'd have to return to my cold and empty bed without my husband causing me to frown.
"Hey.." he grabbed my wrist gently, pulling me against his chest. "Best of wives and best of women."
He placed a gentle kiss on my forehead as I looked up at him with a small smile. Bringing my hand up to trace his stress lines with my thumb.
"Be careful, I love you." I whispered as I hugged onto his chest, dreading the moment when he'd let me go.
"I always am, I love you too darling. Try and get some sleep."
