"Soooooo" Clay said looking at you with a smile.

You raised an eyebrow and sat down on the sofa next to him.

"What?"

"Nick is currently on a plane, on his way here. Like right now. Why don't you seem excited?"

You shrugged and sipped your drink.

Your situation with Nick was a bit odd right now, you see you and Clay had been friends since forever. You'd grown up together, started streaming together, made new online friends together. And now you lived together.

So when Clay said his internet friends Nick and George were flying over to stay last year you were kinda hyped.

You met his new friends and you all formed a group easily.

But you and Nick got really close in the two weeks he was visiting.

So close that he felt the need to kiss you goodbye at the airport.

But now it was nearly a year later and neither you or Nick has brought it up. Or brought anything to do with feelings up.

You knew you liked him. Like really liked him.

But you didn't want to say anything since you didn't want to ruin the group dynamic.

Clay had tried to convince both you and Nick to confess your feeling towards one another for the full year and he'd barely made any progress.

That's why he invited Nick over to stay this summer, he was hoping you'd get closer or admit some feelings to one another.

Plus he knew you would refuse to let Nick sleep on the sofa and your room was the only one with a double bed. He was planning some Wattpad shit.

That was about until two weeks ago when you came home and informed him that you had a boyfriend.

He was shocked to say the least but tried to be supportive.

That was until he met the ass of a boyfriend who went by the name Jared.

He tried his best to be nice and polite but Jared hated him before they even spoke. The thought of you living with another guy pissed him off, so he was cold and kinda aggressive towards Clay.

Clay brushed it off to start with but now avoided him at all costs.

Clay couldn't wrap his head around how you'd suddenly sparked an interest in this ass who you'd only just met.

He knew you better than you knew yourself, you'd never jump straight into a relationship without having at least a week or two of just talking. It was so unlike you to throw yourself into this guy so quickly.

Clay studied your face for a second causing you to look away from him out of awkwardness.

"Y/n if I ask you a personal question do you promise to answer truthfully?"

He asked poking you in the side to get you to face him.

You looked at him confused but nodded "I guess?"

"Good, are you only dating Jared so you don't have to deal with your feelings for Nick?"

You looked at him in offence.

"Why would you- Clay what the fuck!"

He shrugged "Answer the question Y/n."

You sighed and hesitated.

He was half right. Having a boyfriend when Nick visits would prevent an awkward conversation on feelings, and as much as you hated to admit it that was half of the reason you agreed to let Jared take you out on a date.

But the other half of why you said yes was because you needed to get over Nick. It had been a year, if he hadn't said anything already there was no way he felt the same way.

You didn't want to make yourself go through the next three weeks around Nick feeling like unloved shit.

You deserved to get over him.

"Kinda I guess."

You awkwardly stood up and headed to the kitchen to get away from this conversation.

Clay followed you though, determined to have this conversation you'd been putting off for days.

"Kinda?" He lent against the kitchen door frame as you pulled yourself up to sit on the counter.

"Clay I'm not making myself go through the next three weeks in a confusion of will they won't they. I deserve someone that knows their feelings. If Nick doesn't like me back I'm not waiting for him, I have Jared now who made a move."

You played with the bottom of your shirt to try and avoid Clays eye contact.

"But Nick does like you, he's just to scared to tell you."

He sighed and frowned at you.

"Jared's a dick, you don't actually like him. If you just told Nick how you feel everything will be fine."

You looked up at him with a frown "He had a year to confess, I waited for him. I'm done waiting. Give Jared a chance."

Clay groaned and put his hands on your shoulders.

"But-"

The doorbell rang cutting him off and causing you to smile because this conversation was over.

"We're continuing this conversation later."

You rolled your eyes and pushed him towards the exit of the kitchen.

You let him get the door as you finished loading the dish washer.

The yelling and happy greetings coming from the living room told you that Nick had arrived.

You smiled to yourself and walked into the room.

Nick was stood talking to Clay with a smile.

Once he saw you walk in his smile grew and he ran over to you, pulling you into a tight hug.

"Y/n! I missed you."

You chuckled and hugged him back, completely forgetting about the conversation you just had with Clay and how much you were dreading this.

You were just happy to be back in his arms.

"I missed you too, so much."

Clay laughed lightly to himself at the scene infront of him and walked into the kitchen, in hopes of giving you some privacy.

Neither you or Nick pulled away from the hug for awhile.

That was until the sound of someone clearing their throat came from the walk way.

You two pulled apart and you awkwardly smiled at Jared who was stood in the doorway.

"Who are you?" Nick asked standing with his shoulder pressed against yours. He hadn't gotten to see you in person for almost a year and he wasn't quiet ready to pull away from you completely yet.

"Who am I? Who are you is the question, your the one stood in my girlfriends house hugging her."

You let Jared pull you into his side and away from Nick.

Nick looked between the two of you trying to hide the sadness and jealousy from his eyes.

"Girlfriend?"

He raised an eyebrow at Jared and subconsciously raised his hand to touch the part of his arm you were just pressed up against.

"Yeah girlfriend."

Jared gave him a challenging look and kissed your head.

You just awkwardly stood there wishing you were anywhere else.

"Anyway, you ready to go? I thought I'd surprise you with a date." Jared looked down at you and you just smiled weakly at him and nodded.

You waved at Nick and kicked some shoes on.

"Promise we'll catch up later."

You said turning to look at Nick with a small smile

Nick nodded at you and went to give you another hug, but Jared pulled you back with an angry look in his eyes.

You awkwardly smiled at him as Jared pulled you out of the door.

As soon as you left Nick sat on the sofa and ran this hands through his hair.

Clay, who'd been watching this whole thing from the kitchen door way, came and sat next to him. Giving him a comfort tap on the back.

"I missed my shot didn't I?"

Nick looked up at him with sad eyes which made Clays heart hurt for him.

"Honestly, I don't think you have."

~ Time Skip To The Evening ~

Jared dropped you off and the door and you wandered into the house.

Patches ran over to you happily and you sat on the floor to give her a hug.

In the car you'd gotten a notification saying that Dream had gone live so you assumed that Nick was streaming with him.

That's why you got so startled when you heard a laugh.

"Holy shit dude you scared me."

You said with a laugh, looking up to see Nick smiling at you.

"Sorry, I thought you'd assume I was here."

"I thought you were streaming with Clay."

You gave Patches one last cuddle before standing up.

"I was going to. But I thought I'd wait for you. So we could catch up properly." He flashed a bottle of alcohol from behind his back with a smile.

You grinned at him and grabbed his hand.

Leading him up into your room so you could drink without disturbing Clays stream.

After you closed your bedroom door and sat on your bed, with Nick following behind you, you opened the bottle of something that you didn't know the type of.

You poured two glasses and handed one to Nick.

You took a sip and flinched slightly at how much it burnt.

"Holy shit that's strong."

Nick laughed and nodded in agreement.

"That's the point."

You laughed and smiled at him.

"So, a boyfriend huh?"

Nick said with a half arsed laugh. He rested his arm up against yours, he hated to admit it but he missed being close to you. If arm on arm contact was the best he could get he'd happily take it.

"Yeah, his names Jared, I don't know if you noticed but he can get kinda jealous."

Nick laughed and nodded.

"Yeah I did notice. So what's the story with him, how'd you meet?"

You look another sip of the alcohol, not flinching as much now.

"Pretty shit story. He hit on me at a bar, I don't know why I gave him my number but I did."

Nick looked kinda shocked at that.

"I didn't see you as the kinda girl who would give out your number at a bar."

"I'm not."

He chuckled slightly.

"So is he nice to you at least? Nice dates and stuff."

"In all honesty, no. He's a bit controlling, he also hates when I even breathe near another man. I think I almost killed him with he discovered I lived with Clay. And the dates, if you even call them that. I just spent three hours sat in his friends living room as they played video games. They wouldn't even let me play, because I'm a girl."

You frowned to yourself and downed the last of your drink, ignoring the burning in your throat as you poured yourself a new one.

"Sorry if this is out of line, but your boyfriends an arse hole."

You laughed and nodded in agreement.

"Yeah but he's all I got."

You both didn't say anything as you both drank.

He paused and looked at you for a second.

He weighed his options, change the conversation and move on, or tell you what he's wanted to tell you for a year but was always to scared too.

He downed his glass and decided fuck it.

"He doesn't have to be."

You looked up at him in confusion.

"What?"

"He doesn't have to be all you have."

You still looked at him in confusion.

No way he was actually doing this.

He dropped eye contact momentarily to look down at your lips.

You knew you shouldn't, you had a boyfriend and there's no way this could end well.

But then he brought his hand up to your chin to tilt your face up slightly.

The light touch was all it took for you to lean forward and connect your lips.

You were kissing Nick.

You were kissing Nick again almost a year later and you had a boyfriend.

He caressed your faces gently and placed his other hand onto your hip.

It was gentle, loving, and sweet.

Nothing like Jared's half arsed unbothered pecks on the lips.

No this was different.

He pulled you closer to him as he deepened the kiss.

You finally brought you hands up from your side to rest them on his chest.

You smiled slightly before realising.

Holy shit you were kissing Nick.

You were kissing Nick when you had a boyfriend.

You pulled away abruptly and moved back from him.

He frowned at the absence of touch but soon realised the expression on your face.

"Holy shit I'm sorry."

He sat up and looked at you, waiting for you to react.

But you didn't.

"I just cheated, why don't I feel bad?"

"Because he was an arse whole."

Nick laughed slightly to try and ease the tension in the room but your expression didn't change.

"You're one of my best friends, I can't do this again. You did this last time and I got no explanation. I'm not doing that again. Do you want to be with me or not Nick."

That caught him off guard.

"I- I'm sorry, I shouldn't have not explained to you last time. I didn't know what I was doing. All I knew was you were a pretty and smart girl who was nice and made me laugh. So I kissed you and left. Then I couldn't bring myself to explain I liked you over the phone so I pushed it back. Now you have a boyfriend and I made you kiss me and you probably don't even like me back and I've just ruined your relationship and our friendship-"

"Nick breathe. Your rambling."

He nodded and drank from your cup since his was empty and he needed alcohol right now.

"You like me?"

You asked raising an eyebrow and shifting closer to him.

"I've liked you since Clay introduced us, I was just scared."

You two looked at each other for a second before you nodded.

"I like you too, that's why I asked out Jared. I thought you didn't like me back and I wanted to get over you."

Nick looked at you in a stunned silence.

Suddenly you both started smiling.

"What does this mean then?"

Nick asked reaching for your hand.

You gladly let him take it

"I guess it means I have to break up with Jared."

He smiled at you and lent forward to kiss you again.

You smiled like an idiot and wrapped your arms around his neck kissing him back.
