Akiara got off the carriage and walked inside the estate. She saw a middle-aged woman in head maid uniform. Her hair was tied in bun, wearing spectacles and holding a curved-corner glass slab in her hand.
"Your name?"
"Akiara. Akiara Nakamura."
"Come in."
They both walked inside the mansion. They entered servants quarters. Servants whi were at break were stealing glances at Akiara. Her office was near their quarters. They entered head maid's office.
"Please have a seat." She gestured her to sit as she sat. Akiara sat down.
"So can I know why do you wish to become lady Verlice's personal maid despite knowing her rumors?"
"Rumors? Is she talking about the one I heard at the information guild?"
"Rumors like... the lady is sick?"
Akiara notices the maid's expression. Even though she was wearing poker face, her eyes were clearly showing malice. She narrowed her gaze as she thought, "This woman..... she is definitely hiding something."
She fixed her composure, "I just wish to serve her that's all. And I don't believe in rumors. I never judge someone based on the rumors because we never know what kind of person is in the end."
"Interesting kid. Let's see how long you will last with that monster."
"I see. You are hired."
"Huh? Wait wait... how come you hired me without even testing me?"
"You passed the test. You have good decisive skills as well as you proved that you don't judge someone based on rumors. Then tell me more about yourself."
She picked up the glass slab and it suddenly emitted blue light. A screen showed up.
"This is absurd. Everyone is put through a certain test to test their qualification...... unless she thinks that I will leave the job once I see the lady's situation, right?"
She diverted her attention for now, "What's that?"
"This is a magic tab. It may look like a simple glass slab but when you charge it with mana, you can use it for writing letters, write information about workers for easy access and even capturing pictures."

"I see."
"So it is similar to tablets from my world huh. The only difference is that it works on magic."
The head maid wrote down necessary details about her and then clicked a picture of her.
"All done. I have registered your name on the record. Please follow me." She stood up from her seat.
She walked out of the room with Akiara following her. They walked inside the tailor's room.
Head maid spoke, "Ms. Sterling do you have a spare uniform of her size?"
Ms. Sterling, Verlice estate's tailor stood up from her seat and walked towards Akiara. She scanned her whole body. She fixed her glass and stood back.
"Ahem... I think I have. Give me few moments." She walked towards the closet.
"Look at the expressions of these servants. Their eyes are clearly telling the same thing as that woman. Or maybe something else."
Ms. Sterling opened it and searched the neatly folded clothes. "Aha!" she took out the uniform and handed it to Akiara.
"Try it." She pushed her to changing room.
She walked out after few minutes wearing the uniform. Ms. Sterling clapped her hands feeling proud.
"Perfect! You can keep it. I have more two sets." She took it out and handed it to her.
"Alright then... you have to leave tomorrow morning for Verde."
"Excuse me wait, why do I have to leave for Verde?"
"That's because lady Verlice does not live with her family. She lives in another mansion which is owned by Verlice duchy."
"I see. Thank you for the information. I must leave now."
"I will show you the way."
Ms. Sterling packed her uniform and handed over to her. Head maid and Akiara walked away. She showed her way to the front gate.
"Don't forget to leave for Verde."
"Yes yes I know." Akiara walked away.
Akiara booked a room in an inn for a night. After having dinner she headed to her room. She flopped down the bed. She stared as she didn't wanted to sleep.

"I don't wanna fall asleep. If I sleep then I'll see the same nightmare." She sighed.
"Since I'll be traveling... I must create a bag so that I can carry the uniform with me."
She worked whole night thinking and creating the stuffs she needs. Next morning, she wore her cloak, packed her bag and hid a dagger behind her back. She walked away and departed for Verde. She asked for direction from some people.
By midday, Akiara was exhausted. She sat under a tree and took a sip of a water. Due to exhaustion of using up mana, she fell asleep. She opened her eyes as she felt presence of people. There were tough looking bandits that surrounded her. She recognized one of them.
She spoke, "You're that guy who showed me the directions."
The man replied, "Ah that... I wanted to be nice."
"Thanks for showing me a rare beauty." The leader of bandits patted the man's back.
The man laughed, "Ahahaha it's nothing. About the payment-"
The man got stabbed by the leader, "Well... I had no intention of paying." he pulled back his sword sneering at the man as he collapsed on the ground.
"Boss this little chick is really beautiful. If we sell her we will get rich and don't have to worry about money."
"Why don't we just toy with her and then sell her?"
Akiara stood there silently watching them talking. She gritted her teeth as it made her remember something terrible.
[Akiara was dragged by her PE t-shirt to gym's equipment room. Those girls were laughing and grinning.
"Here's your prey guys." The girl spoke.
Delinquents from the boy's high school showed themselves. Their tongues were sticking out and licking their lips. One of them came closer to her and grabbed her lower jaw. He pulled her face closer and scanned her face.
"She's cute. But too bad it won't satisfy my brothers. Do whatever you all want." He pushed her away and walked back.
The other three approached towards her. They poured the cold coffee on her head, even the girls laughed at her making videos, they even tried to drown her by making her suffocateI n the water and after smoking they burned her right arm's skin.]
Her facial expression darkened. She clenched her fist.
"Scumbags.... scumbags like you all.... DESERVE TO DIE!!"
One of them approached towards her to touch her. She unsheathed her sword and cut off his wrist.
The man panicked seeing his hand cut, "M-my hand! AAH! My hand!" he writhed in pain.
Without showing mercy, she stabbed that guy in his heart. She pulled back her sword and the guy fell on the ground. He wasn't moving anymore. One of them ran towards him. She cut off his head. They couldn't move in fear.
"Who's next?" She pointed her sword towards them.
Their leader shouted, "EVERYONE HURRY UP HELP ME TO PIN THIS B*TCH DOWN!!"
She smirked as her eyes glinted. Within split second everyone were lying on the ground. They were on verge of death as they were badly injured on their vital points. She swung her sword splatting blood on the ground and then sheathed back. She snatched away the big pouch that was attached to the leader's belt. She opened it - it was pouch full of gold and silver coins.
"I'll be taking it." She walked away.
The leader mumbled on his verge of dying, "M-monster... she's a... monster..."
She heard his remark and glared at him, "Indeed I am a monster. Because you all turned me into one." with that she walked away.
