Josh was an average five-year-old, but he was pretty chill. He didn't really get in trouble, he wasn't disrespectful, he didn't throw tantrums, and most importantly, he knew he was loved. He wasn't at all jealous of his younger sister. If anything, he tried to help when he could,
"Daddy, am I tall enough?" He asked as we approached the gigantic ride. The employee placed a striped pole next to his body and nodded. "You just made it buddy. Enjoy the ride."
We walked up the long walkway, leading up to the ride and waited for our turn. Not a trace of nervousness was found across Joshua's face and it reminded me of how I was when I was his age.
Both my kids were a lot like me. Reese was a goof. She'd mess with you and kiss all over your face until you smile and once you did, she'd get extremely happy and start laughing. She was the goofy side of me, and Joshua was more like the calm side.
Once we got off the ride we got on a few more and Josh was starting to get tired. I guess the sun was beating him up a bit. I handed him my phone and he dialed Kyra to see where she was.
"She's, at the... What you say again mama?" He asked, confusion lacing his features. "They're buy a ride called Peter Pan's Flight."
I nodded. "Tell them to sit down and wait till we get there."
"Okay, bye."
We made the ten-minute walk to where they were and found Kyra sitting on a bench with a sleeping Reese.
Once she saw up, she stood up. She ran her hands over Josh's curls and studied his face. "You look tired baby,"
Josh nodded and laid his head against her waist. "We won't leave until you get on everything you want to."
He shook his head. "I'm tired and Reese is too." He said poking her small leg making her twist in Kyra's arms.
"Okay, baby. Let's head home then,"
I grabbed Reese from Kyra and stood still for a few second so she could readjust herself. She started to wake up which was good. She could go back to sleep in the car.
Her small arms circled my neck and she let out a breath. Her eyes hung low as we made the 20-minute walk back towards the entrance of the park.
Once we reached the truck, I buckled her in and kissed her cheek. Her curly hair was escaping her bun, her beautiful hazel eyes low. She'd be out before we reached the freeway.
The drive back seemed quicker than we came but I think the sun had tired all of is out. Even Kyra looked tired.
Once we got out, I grabbed Reese and headed into the house. I walked in her room and laid her on her bed. I had to wake her up again and put her in the bathtub and she started crying the entire time. "Taylor chill out. You gone get to go back to sleep!" I semi yelled only making her cry harder.
Once I finally finished, I dried her hair and lotioned her up before I put her in some shorts and a tank top. It was like 80 degrees and it was only 9:30.
I went in our room and took a shower before throwing on some shorts am socks and going down into the kitchen where Kyra was walking around with Reese on her heels, her wild curly mane everywhere. I scooped Reese up and kissed all over her face making her laugh.

"Still mad at me baby?" I asked. She shook her head no and ran her all finger over my freckles before touching her own face. "Yep, you have them too Reese Cup."
"Such a daddy's girl." Kyra mumbled with a smile as she placed ice cream in front of all of us. "Josh is always under you so don't start." She laughed and ruffled his hair. "You take a shower?" He nodded.
"When you start taking showers?" I asked sitting down with Reese sitting on my lap. I scooped some into my mouth and then put a little on the spoon, letting her lick it. "Last week, mama showed me how to make the thing come on. I like them better than baths."
I nodded. "How's school?"
He shrugged. "There's this dance since I'm going to second grade."
I nodded and fed Reese the last of my Ice-cream before getting up to put the bowl in the sink. "You going?" He nodded.
I sat Reese on her feet and ran my hands through her curly hair. I had no clue how Kyra kept up with all of it. It was thick and curly, and all over her damn head.
"Tell him the rest." Kyra ordered as she squatted down in front of me and our daughter and pulled her hair into a bun.
"Better?" Reese nodded.
I looked at Joshua and he sighed. "I have to ask a girl in my grade."
"What's wrong with that?"
He shrugged. "I don't know."
"You nervous baby?" Kyra asked pulling him into a hug as we all walked into the small theater.
"Yea."
I put in Frozen and cuddled Reese into my body. She was so small and happy and innocent, and I loved that about her. It didn't take much to make her happy, and she loved being under me. Whenever I was home, she wanted to be in the same room as me.
Josh on the other hand was all Kyra. Kyra wanted a boy so bad when she first got pregnant and she got one so the connection she has strong, him being our first child. The one thing we had in common was basketball. When we couldn't find him around the house, he was in the basketball court shooting. He plays in a league for kids his age and does pretty good too. He's quick on his feet.
"Yay!" Reese started clapping and Kyra laughed. "Yay, baby, yay!"
"Popcorn?" I asked getting up.
I made my way intro he kitchen and pulled out a big bowl. I started the first bag of popcorn and Josh walked in.
"Wassup?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.
"I uh, wanna ask this girl, Candace to the dance but I'm scared."
I chuckled. "What you scared for nigga? All she can say is no and then you can move on."
"But I like her, I don't like the other girls."
"Well, you better man up and do what you gotta do. What if another boy asks her first? You're going to be upset, go for it man." I poured the bags into the bowl and Josh grabbed a handful.
"Plus, you're my son. Who ain't gone fall at yo feet. You a handsome little nigga." Joshua laughed and I picked him up acting I was going to drop him making him throw a laughing fit.
"Come on." I nudged him as we made or way into the theater.

"Do you wanna build a snow man!" Kyra and Reese sang in harmony before Kyra laughed.
Reese climbed back into my lap and grabbed a piece of popcorn from my hand. "Eat it mama."
Kyra
Reese's feet are growing so we picked up 6 pairs of new shoes for her, I didn't get that many knowing Cam brought them shoes all the time. Reese for some reason felt the need to touch everything in sight and once she started knocking things on the floor I had enough.
"Reese, stop it!" I popped her hand and her face screwed up before she started crying. I sighed and rolled my eyes at her dramatics. She's acting like I spanked her.
I grabbed her hand, but she decided to act like she didn't know how to walk which aggravated me even more. I quickly turned around and roughly pulled her small body into me. "Stop crying right now, you're being very bratty. You know how to walk and if I have to pick you up, you're going to get a whooping do you hear me?"
She started coughing and it lifted her into my arms and sighed as I rocked her to calm her down. "Calm down."
"Mama, I like these." Josh walked up to me with a pair of Kevin Durant shoes and I grabbed them from his hands, examining them. They were orange red and blue and I wanted to know what he planned on wearing these with because they were tacky, but I was still going to let him get them. "Ask for your size and try them on."
Reese sniffles and laid her head on my shoulder. I ran my hands over her hair and kissed her cheek. My phone started ringing and I sat down on the small bench in the footlocker and pulled my phone out. "Hello?"
"Hey, baby. I gotta go to practice but I got the jerseys and put them on our bed. Dave made Reese's special you're going to love it." I smiled, "What did he do to it?"
"You'll see. I'm finna walk in the rec though so I'll see you at the game aight? I love you."
"Love you more, bye." I hung up and pressed my finger against Joshua's toes. "Can he get they a half a size larger and just put them at the back."
I picked the bags up off the floor and paid for the shoes before we left the store. I heard screaming and I cursed under my breath. Josh wrapped his arms around my leg as a few girls ran up to me.
"Your Kyra Johnson, I see your pictures all the time and Reese is such a cutie pie!" She squealed a her and her friends asked to take pictures with us. Josh is such a little flirt he was smiling and holding their waist. My song is going to become a little player I swear.
"We have to go, but it was nice meeting you guys." Josh let out a deep breath and I chuckled.
Once me made it across the parking lot I unlocked my car and Josh hopped in the backseat. I strapped Reese into her car seat and handed her a cup of watered-down apple juice before getting in the front and driving home.
"Can we eat mama?" Josh asked patting my headrest. "Yea, what do you wanna get?"
"Chicken and French-fries." I nodded. "I can cook that when we get home. Go in and get washed up for daddy's game. Find some pants and you better change your socks. Matter fact, I'll get you clothes. Go take a shower or a bath." I said as I pulled into our driveway.
Noni opened the front door as Josh got out of the car and scooped him into her arms kissing all over his face. "White baby, hey nephew!"
He laughed and wrapped his arms around her waist as she ran her hands through his hair. "I'm not white, put me down!" He yelled laughing. I smiled and unbuckled Reese, sitting her on her feet and pulling her dress down.
"Hi Reese!" She smiled and squatted down on the balls of her feet. Reese slowly walked into her arms and she stood up going into the house.
"Joshua, grab a few of these bags for me baby." He ran over to the truck and grabbed all the bags but one making he giggle. He was just like his father.
I opened the door for him, and he sat them on the floor. "Thanks baby, go wash up."
I followed him upstairs and walked into Reese's room. I loved her room. It was blue and purple everything, even her walls and 'Taylor' was written in cursive on the wall. Her bed was filled with pillows even though she didn't sleep in it yet. She still slept in her crib because she was so small.
I had asked Anna was she ready and she told me no because Reese might fall out of the bed or try and get down and hurt herself. I wasn't going to put her in it yet.
I put her shoes away in her closet and walked into Josh's room. I pulled out some cargo shorts and sat his shoes on his bed, with a plain black tshirt.
I walked in my room and picked the jerseys up off the bed. I smiled at Reese's Jersey. It was pink, red and black and on the back it read. "Johnson's Baby" I squealed and sat it on her bed with some jean shorts.
Noni walked in her room and sat her in her chair, just for her to get right back up and come over to where I was.
"Mine?" She asked touching the jersey with her little finger. I nodded, "Yeah, it's pretty ain't it baby?"
"Want me to get her ready for you?" My sister offered.
"Please?" Noni nodded and took Reese's bun out before carrying her into the bathroom.
I got myself ready in me and Cam's room and started on my hair. I straightened my hair out and put on light make up before getting dressed.
I walked into Joshua's room to find him on his bed, his attention on his play station. "Turn it off and come here." I think he was so focused he didn't even hear me.
"Joshua Chase Johnson." His head snapped in my direction and I raised up his jersey. "Come here."
He turned the game off and lifted his arms up. I put his jersey on his and kissed his lips. "Put your shoes on."
"You should wear a watch baby." I walked over and put his watch on his wrist before I turned off his light and followed him out of his room.
We went into the kitchen and I got started on their dinner. Josh helped me like he always did and started eating. Noni walked in the kitchen and sat Reese in her chair. After the kids ate, we got ready to go.
"Noni, you wanna come to the game with us?" She shook her head no. "Basketball isn't my thing, plus Quan is in Miami with me. You know his cousin lives out here." I nodded sitting Reese in her car seat. "Yeah, how are you guys?"
"Good, it feels nice to be in something serious you know? I'm 24, having flings and shit is getting childish. I need stability."
"Y'all have been together for two years, you have stability." She smiled. "I know, and I know he's about to ask me to marry him."
I laughed. "How do you figure that?"
"I'll tell you later, I have a date and you're going to be late. Have fun, tell tall as shit I said hi."
"Reese, I'm going to put you down don't run." I warned as I sat her on her feet.
Josh jumped down from the truck and grabbed her little hand making her smiled up at him as she walked.
Once we made it inside the stadium, we took the escalator down to the first floor, waving at the fans that noticed us. Reese let go of her brothers' hand and ran down the aisle.
"Reese!" Josh yelled going after her. He grabbed her small body and wrapped his arms around her making her cry.
"Reese stop!" I shouted as she tried to walk away.
"Taylor Johnson, come here! NOW." I scooped her up in my arms and patted her little butt. "Stop being a bad girl,"
"Mama." She smiled and placed a wet kiss on my mouth. "Hi baby," I ran my hands through her hair. I blow dried it out and curled it with flexy rods and put it into a ponytail. It was so cute, and her hair was so long and pretty.
I sat down in my seat and placed her on my lap. "Can I get a sprite ma?" I nodded. "Ask the server when she comes by."
I turned Reese so she was straddling my lap and I began to play patty cake and play with her hands. She smiled and patted my hands giggling and smiling. She was so cute.
"Daddy!" Josh yelled as the boys ran out and started warming up for the game. Cam turned around and waved.
Most of the basketball games were two hours, two and a half if they went into overtime and Cam played his heart out every minute he was on the floor. I was so proud of how far he had come with his attitude and with his injury. I remember him feeling like he had lost one of the things he loved most in the world so to see him back on the court, playing as if he never fractured his foot, it was amazing. I think he played so hard because of the risks he was taking with such a major injury and he wanted to make his mark early on in his career. Cam is only 27 years old, yes, he has been in the organization for a long time, but he still had many years to keep playing and that's one of the main reasons I never complained when he was gone a lot. I knew he was I. His glory days and when it was over or when he was tired, we'd still be young. I just didn't want him to miss key moments on the lives of our children. Joshua, being a basketball fan, understood exactly where. He is was and why, but Taylor didn't. She missed her father and would call for him and there was nothing I could possibly do.
After the game ended, we made our way to the parking garage with the help of security and I kissed Jamie goodbye before making my way home with my babies.
I let Taylor be, she didn't really get into much and anything she could get into was out of her reach, so I decided to let her little behind wander. I just made sure I got Josh in the tub once he got home before he got tired.
"Mama, where my batman pants." I bit down on my lip in thought. "I think they are..." I said walking in in closet and looking in his pajama drawer. "Right here. I almost thought they weren't clean. Lucky you." I handed them too him and he put them over his boxers before I handed him a plain black t-shirt.
We made our way downstairs so find his little sister. We went the in the playroom first just to find that she wasn't there. Her cute little giggles are what caught my attention and scared me all in the same.
I ran to the kitchen like I was in a 100-meter dash. "Reese!" I yelled.
I round the corner and let out a breath, seeing her and Cam looking at me. She had half a chicken nugget in her hand as she sat onto of the island in front of him. I walked over to her and kissed her head.
"I almost had a heart attack."
Cam chuckled. "Where was you at?"
"Upstairs giving him a bath and getting him ready for bed. I figured she would be okay down here. I had the TV on." He nodded. "She's hungry. Second I pulled my food out she was patting my leg."
I laughed. "I was just coming down to cook."
Cam started pulling food out the bag and I pursed my lips before smiling.
He dipped a nugget in the sweet and sour sauce and handed to Taylor. Of course, she had to examine it before she bit into. "She's just like Josh, she gone lick the sauce off."
"Let her do that then." He said giving Josh a hug. "I got chicken sandwiches and cheeseburgers. Which one you want cause the nuggets are for Reese."
"Chicken." He nodded and handed him the sandwich wrapped in yellow paper and some fries.
He looked at me and smiled. "Why you gave me no kiss yet. Fuck wrong with you?" I rolled my eyes at his attitude and wrapped my arms around his neck. He smashed his lips into mine and forced his tongue into my mouth.
"Ew." We snapped our heads over at Josh who started laughing. We smiled.
"Shut yo ass up." Cam mumbled pecking my lips again. I shook my head and grabbed the nugget from Taylor's hand, biting into it.
She screwed her face up and Cam glared at me as she started crying. "Ooo, mommy you made her cry." Josh said making me start laughing.
"Why you take it?"
I kissed teeth. "She not about to sit her and lick on one chicken nugget all night." I said handing her a plain nugget.
She reached her arm out to Cam and he shook his head no and bit into his Big Mac. She turned her hand to Josh who laughed and shook his head no.
"Eat eat." I said grabbing a nugget and biting it. She followed and bit into her nugget.
I grabbed the cheeseburger, Josh didn't want and started eating. "Look at yo jersey baby." Cam said smiling.
I smiled. "Dave made it really nice." Cam nodded in agreement. "That's my nigga, she looks so cute."
Reese handed him the half eaten french fry in her hand and he ate it before picking her up and going upstairs. Josh made a silly face at me and Iaughed. "You ugly."
"I'm not ugly mama, all the girls like me." I smiled at his confidence. Cam's cockiness was definitely rubbing off in our son which I didn't mind. It wasn't too bad. Josh was such a good little boy.
"Then why don't you ask out your friend Candace, if all the girls like you." He smiled. "I will, Monday mama. It's game time." I giggled and cleaned up all the mess in the kitchen with the help of Joshua. We washed our hands and made our way up to the steps.
"Wanna sleep with me and Daddy tonight?" I said was we walked down the hall to me and Cam's room. Josh nodded. I opened the door and Cam was laying on the bed with Taylor on his chest.
Her little butt was in the air, a sign that she was sleepy. Josh crawled in the bed and I followed wrapping my arms around him. Cam kissed his forehead and looked up at me.
"Look what we made baby." I said running my hands threw Joshua's hair as his eyelids lowered.

What if it didn't follow the hero? What if, and bear with me here: I told it instead? My name is Daniel, and I'm just a simple merchant with quite the story to share...
