《Kyra (Completed)》37

"Come on shoot!"
Kyra shook her head no. " Cam, I'm cold." She said trying to hand the ball back, but I wouldn't take it, so she dropped it and it rolled back to me.
"Shoot the ball man." I said passing it back to her. How the hell did I get her ass down here in the first place?
I felt like throwing the ball around in my indoor court and Kyra is lazy as hell now that she's eight months. She needs to walk around and be active.
She kissed her teeth. " Cam, listen to me. I don't want to shoot the damn ball. I want to go upstairs and go to sleep with my body pillow and you're pissing me off. "
I started laughed. "You want me to make you some French fries?" She nodded.
"Make a shot."
She huffed. "Stop being an asshole." I chuckled. "That's why you fell in love with me..."
She closed her eyes and I laughed at how annoyed she was becoming. "You want the fries? Shoot for em."
"I can cook my own french fries Cam!" I nodded. "Touché, but they ain't gone be as good as mine."
She sighed and spread her feet at the free throw line. She bent her knees and released the ball as she stood back straight. The ball went in the hoop beautifully and she put her hand on her hip. "Happy?"
I nodded. "You gone be a pro when I'm done with you." I said grabbing her hand and helping her up the few steps.
"Why can't you teach Joshua this stuff?" She asked sitting down at my kitchen counter.
"I will, and he gone be a beast like his daddy."
She rolled her eyes and laughed. " Cam, you're always over exaggerating. You're not even that good."
"That's why I won rookie of the year? Cause I'm not that good?" I shot back making her giggle.
"It was luck!" I nodded and laughed, sitting a plate in front of her.
"Hey, I wanted to talk to you about something."
"Wassup?" She said biting into a french fry. She nodded and closed her eyes making me laugh. She is so fat.
"When the season picks up. Josh is going to be like six months, right?"
"Yeah, almost seven if he comes when he's supposed to. Why? Aren't you on a leave?" She asked confused.
"Chocolate syrup." She mumbled.

I grabbed it out of the refrigerator, handing it to her. She squeezed it on her fries, and I scrunched up my face.
"You gone have to take a shit..." She glared up at me. "Shut up, so what are you getting at?"
"I'm on leave till you have him but I'm still training, and I have to go practice after. They're giving me two weeks." She sighed.
"Are you serious?" She shook her head in disbelief. " Cam, he needs to know you!"
"He will, Kyra but we knew this was going to happen. My career has me gone for days sometimes and you need to be able to handle that."
"I can't do this without you..." She cried. I bent in front of her and grabbed her waist. "You're never going to have to do this alone, but we gotta plan this out."
"Will you be home on the weekends?" I shrugged. "Maybe, maybe not."
"What if you miss his first birthday Cam? What then?!" I should have waited to have this conversation...
"His first birthday is so far away Kyra, you over thinking this shit right now."
"Am I? Or are you saying that because you know if it comes down to it, you're going to be bouncing a ball when the day comes if stead of being here?"
I ran my hands down my face. "Why you trying to make it seem like I don't have my priorities straight? I know that shit is fucked up Kyra. If I don't do my job, I can't keep food on the damn table."
"This is unfair..." I sighed. "It's life."
"So, what are we going to do?"
"I don't know. Chris is always gone when I am, so maybe Jamie can help out in my absence. It's won't be as bad as it seems, we can Skype and FaceTime with him." She nodded.
"I feel like everything is putting space between us. You're already two hours away..."
The food in my kitchen was going bad so I threw it away and took a trip to the grocery store with Jamie before we headed to the mall. We had gone in a few stores but of course I wasn't buying anything. I don't know what size I'll be after I have Joshua.
"That's cute." I said as she gave me a 360 view of the shirt she was trying on.
I walked over to the jewelry section and pick out a few pieces that I liked, and a couple infinity scarfs. I paid for them and waited for Jamie before we headed to the food court.

We stood in line at a pizza place and she was playing with my belly. "Nephew, can you come already, everyone is so excited to meet you bruh." People around us started laughing and I pushed her off me. "You sound like Kaylen."
"That's why that's my bitch." She said laughing as we moved up the line. We got our food and sat down before digging into our food.
"How many months are you now?" She asked rubbing my belly.
Jamie was probably just as excited as Cam. Joshua was going to be spoiled as hell. No one else has kids. None of me or Cam's friends have kids, and this is both of our parents first grandchild even though Cam has siblings.
"Eight and a week." I said smiling. "They expected him to be here already so were blessed."
My phone started ringing and looked down knowing I was about to hear it. I pulled my phone to my ear as Cam started yelling. "Come home!"
" Cam, I swear I'm fine." I gritted out. He's always being overprotective and extra when there's not even a problem.
"They told you to rest! Why can't you just do what you're supposed to? Your being stupid." I kissed my teeth and hung up on him.
"Jamie, can you take me home?" She nodded and we got up and made our way out.
Cam was in the living room, pretending to watch TV. He was mad at me, but it didn't really bother me. I wasn't about to stay in the house day and night for a month. I need to see society as well and as much as everyone else.
"Are you seriously mad at me?" He looked at me and scoffed.
"Staying in bed like that is unhealthy. You're always saying I don't get out, but when I do, you go the hell off."
He chuckled. "That was before the doctor put you on bed rest Kyra..." He mumbled.
I sat on his lap and he wrapped his arms around my belly. He sighed and ran his hands through my hair. "I just need you to stay healthy. It's like you see caution tape on a crime scene and you cut it and walk through. Stop ignoring the fact that you can die, Josh can die if you don't do what you're supposed to. Having him early isn't healthy for either one of you."
I nodded and kissed his nose. " Cam..." I mumbled.
As his eyes connected to mine, they softened. "I love you." I said with a smile.
He was still so upset, and I couldn't even argue with him because he was right. "I love you too." He said kissing my cheek.
He patted my thigh and grabbed my hand, taking me upstairs. He helped me change into some night clothes that I would eventually take off when I got hot in the middle of the night.
"I'm going to go chill with Cody. Get some sleep." He mumbled.
"You come back here when you're done. You hear me?" I warned. "I don't care what time you come in, but don't drive all the way home this late." He nodded and grabbed his keys before leaving.
He didn't come back till three in the morning, but it didn't bother me. I heard the front door shut downstairs as he tried to be a quiet as he could. The door opened and he started pulling his clothes off till he was in a t-shirt and basketball shorts.
I pulled the covers back on the vacant side of my bed and he kissed his teeth. "I ain't meant to wake you up."
I waved him off, watching him take off the chains and the watch he had on. "I sleep a little lighter now."
He slid into the bed and kissed my forehead. I stared at him and he poked my belly making the baby kick. Cam had learned all of the tricks to get him to kick. "He's already like you." I said with a giggle. "Hyper, can't never just sit down."
Cam gave me a side eye and I smiled. The moonlight outlined his freckled face, his pink lips and white teeth on full display, his slightly crooked tooth being the perfect imperfection that he had probably always been insecure about but never made a move to fix. I was still in love with Cam. I wasn't in love with the idea of him. I could have him.
He had shown me that he's grown up. He's matured. He's shown me that he can put his son before everyone else, even me. He's proven that he loves me because he shows it every day without effort. He's shown me that he would fly across the country to be by my side. He's proven and shown me that he's worth it.
I pressed my lips against his and he wasted no time returning the favor.
