《Kyra (Completed)》35

When I woke up, the bright white of the room gave me an instant headache. I had never understood why hospitals had so much white. No one likes white that damn much. I was freezing and instantly worried. My first instinct was to grab my belly. I let out a breath as I still felt big and full.
The door opened and the doctor walked in, "Great, you're awake." He said smiling.
"Where is Cam?" I asked starting to panic. I didn't like being alone in the hospital.
"I'm right here." He said walking in behind with Anna, and Ariel.
I let out a breath as he kissed my forehead and cupped my face in his hands. "You scared the shit out of me."
"Cam, watch your mouth." Anna warned.
"I'm sorry..." I mumbled. "It's fine, just next time, if anything happens, call me. Don't wait for me to come home." I nodded.
"So, what's wrong with me?"
Cam sat on the edge of the bed as Arie and Anna gave me hugs and kisses. I wonder when Arie got here.
The doctor cleared his throat. "We think there's a chance you may have the baby a little early."
"That's why I'm bleeding? I'm in labor?" He shook his head no as Cam grabbed my hand.
"Not in labor, we think your body is trying to have the baby and it's not ready. Have you ever heard of placental abruption?" I shook my head no,
"It's when the placenta detaches from the uterine wall during or before labor. Our issue is that you're only twenty-two weeks. The baby is not formed enough for you to have it. If it comes now, there's an eighty nine percent chance it won't survive and then if it does, there's a chance it will have a birth defect or be challenged."
I sighed a nodded. "So, what do we do from here?"
"We haven't settled on what's wrong with you because your clearly not in labor. We want to look over it a bit. We also think you're bleeding because the baby will be a preemie. Sometimes the body will send signs. That, we won't worry about too much. We will just have to take the necessary steps to prevent it."
I nodded. "Do I have to stay here?"
He shook his head no. "You can leave."
"If this happens again come back in. We will call you if anything new comes up." He said before walking out as a nurse came in.
"Here are your discharge papers." She said handing them over to Cam. He filled them out before handing it back and helping me into the bathroom.
He slid my yoga pants on as I slipped my shirt over my head. He sighed and kissed my stomach, something that he always did, something that calmed me down and made me feel good. Something I never objected to.
"You ready to go?" I nodded and he helped me into my boots.
"Aight mama, thanks for coming he said kissing his mom. She waved him off and pulled me into a hug. "Take care of my baby." She said looking up at Cam.
He nodded and grabbed my hand as we made our way back to my condo.
"Chase?" I asked. He nodded and wrote it into our baby book. "George?" I smacked his head.
"What the hell? No way." He laughed.
"What about Joshua?" I smiled and nodded. "I love that." I mumbled.

Today, Cam and I were trying to pick out a name for the baby. We keep holding this off, but we need to do it. I'm not a waiting type of person. I didn't want to wait to know the sex and I don't want to name him when he's born. I like order. Plus, Anna has been hounding us for a name because she wanted to finish the nursery.
Reason enough.
"How about Joshua Chase Johnson?"
"It sounds too white man. He a thug, he needs a thug name." I rolled my eyes.
"Like what? George?"
He nodded. "You know how many Georges be bodying niggas?"
I shook my head. "You want our son to be a hood rat?" He laughed and nodded.
I chucked and shook my head. Cam was doing the extreme most right now.
"I'm done with this conversation." He laughed and shrugged.
After the pregnancy scare, I chilled out a little more. I was doing the most. My blood pressure was a little high and I needed to fix that. We already had enough problems with the baby as it was.
"Kaylen is calling you." Cam said handing me my phone.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Rashad came over the day before yesterday and why didn't you tell me you went to the hospital? Me and Tj were worried."
I frowned. "Sorry, and I think Rashad's mad at me."
She laughed. "He is. He flew out here thinking he was getting you back and he isn't." I sighed and got up walking out of the room. "I think part of me wants to but it's too much and my feelings for Cam are too strong. This is a mess and Rashad's life is mess free."
She laughed. "Whatever. He's going home tomorrow so he wants to go out to eat at three. Can you make it? Can you leave the house?"
"Yeah, it sounds like fun. Where at?"
"Just Applebee's, nothing fancy. You can wear one of your a million pairs of Ugg boots." I laughed. "Shut up, I'll be there." I hung up the phone and walked in the closet.
"You going somewhere?" I nodded. "You staying here?" I asked pulling out a pair of jeans, one of the only pair I could still get into.
He shrugged. "Probably." He walked out and I slipped my jeans on. I pulled on a loose plain white tank top and a jean jacket.
It wasn't cold outside, but It wasn't warm in the lease. It was about 68 degrees. That wasn't cold for Virginia, but living in Miami, I've gotten used to the warm weather.
"Cam..." I waited a few moments before he walked back in. I pointed to my hot pink Ugg's and he grabbed them as I sat down. He slid my shoes on as I snapped my Juicy Couture necklace around my neck.
I got up and walked out of my closet and into the bathroom. "You are so small Kyra. Ain't pregnant girls supposed to be big?"
"I feel big." I said gelling my hair into a slick ponytail. The ends of my hair started to spiral into loose curls naturally and I shrugged. I felt Cam's arms around my shoulders, and I placed my hands-on top of his as we both stared at the mirror.
He shook his head no. "I can still wrap my arms around you and have space left..." I smiled. "That's because you're a giant." He busted out laughing and faked as if he was offended before kissing my neck.

I closed my eyes and smiled. Cam made me so happy, but at the same time he was such a disappointment. I never expected him to be perfect. I just wanted him to try...
"Cam..." I said barely above a whisper.
He let out a 'Hmm?' and I opened my eyes to find that his were also closed.
"You've been sleeping over here for a week straight." He nodded. "What you getting at?" He asked re-opening his eyes.
"Are you still with Chanel?" He shook his head no. I looked away from the mirror and up at his face as he returned the gaze.
"When did that happen?" I questioned curiously.
"Yesterday....that's why I left." He said staring into my eyes.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He looked away and I frowned. "Cause telling you wouldn't have made a difference. Breaking up with her was more than just about you. It was about my son, it was about my mama and Cody not approving of her, probably my dad too but you know he ain't gone say much. It was about me not needing her in my life. It was about me needing you. I didn't break up with her as a way of asking you to be with me again, it's a way of showing you that I listen to you."
I turned around in his arms and cupped his face in my hands, turning his head so he was forced to look at me. I pulled him down and kissed his forehead.
"You never fail to surprise me." He smiled and pulled me into a hug.
"You look beautiful. Where are you going?" I smiled. "Out to eat with Kaylen and Rashad." He nodded.
"Let's get you to this restaurant."
"Let's?" I questioned raising an eyebrow.
"Yes, let's. I ain't staying, but I know you ain't think you was driving there?" I kissed my teeth and grabbed my cell phone.
We made our way downstairs and I dug through my purse for my wallet, opening it and taking out some money.
"Really?" I cheesed big and he laughed. "I like paying for myself sometimes Cam." He nodded. "Aight, fair enough."
He dropped me off and helped me into the door before kissing my cheek and leaving. I looked around for Kaylen and Rashad and spotted them before walking over. I sat down and let out a breath.
"Well, you look pretty." I smiled. "Thanks baby, you too." I pulled out the menu and scanned through it before ordering since they had already ordered. I thanked the waitress and she walked away.
I looked over at Rashad and he glanced up at me. I smiled and the corner of his lips turned up. "Hey, Rashad."
"Hey," he said kissing my hand.
"You're leaving tomorrow?" I asked with a pout. He nodded. "I got that proposal to get back to, but I'll call you every once in a while." I nodded.
"I wish you the best of luck." He smiled. "You too. I know that little boy is going to be beautiful if he looks anything close to you." I blushed and stood up pulling him into a hug.
"I don't deserve this after my pregnant, confused ass lead you on." He laughed. "Listen, if your happy, so am I. I want you to be happy. Send me the receipt list so I can send you something."
I bit my lip. "We're not having a baby shower, because a lot of his teammates and our families have been sending us stuff anyway. It would be greedy, but feel free to send something anyway. We appreciate everything." He nodded.
My food was placed in front of me and I licked my lips. "Can I have some hot sauce and some sour cream?" The waitress looked at me funny.
"She's pregnant." Kaylen said rudely. I guess she didn't like the look she was giving me.
The waitress backed up a little, glancing down at my round belly and smiled before nodding. "How many months are you?"
I smiled. "Six,"
She clapped. "I have twin boys. I miss when they were small." I smiled. "Was it hard raising a boy?"
"Is that what you're having?" I nodded. She shrugged. "Every child is different, and I had two so of course it was a challenge. It was worth it though. I love them." I smiled. "Thank you."
She nodded. "Good luck with your pregnancy. I'll be back with you're hot sauce and your sour cream."
Kaylen smiled. "I'm so excited to meet my little cousin!" She squealed. "You still have three months left don't get so excited."
"Are you excited?"
I nodded. "I'm scared too."
"Oh, yeah. Why were you at the hospital?"
Rashad sat up straighter. "You went to the hospital? When?"
"The day before yesterday. My stomach was hurting, and I was bleeding. I was terrified. I thought I was miscarrying."
"But you didn't, right?" I kissed my teeth and Kaylen smacked him in the back off the head. "I love you like a brother, but that was a stupid ass question Rashad." He laughed and put his hands up in defense.
"No, turns out they think I have something called placental abruption."
"Pla, wha?" Kaylen asked confused.
"It's when your placenta detaches from the uterine wall when you're in labor or like before it."
"But your only six months!"
I nodded. "Exactly. They think that's what's happening, and my body is refusing to go into labor, or they think I'm bleeding as a sign that Josh will be born premature."
"Aww, is that his name!" She cooed. "Josh?"
"Joshua." She squealed. "So cute, and sophisticated." She walked around the table and gave me a hug. "Everything will be fine I promise. Did your dad call you?"
I nodded. "Him and Noni called, being over dramatic. I guess Clinton called my dad."
"He's knows uncle Michael?" I shook my head no. "They've talked on the phone before." She nodded.
"When do you think they will meet?"
"I want to have a huge dinner after josh in born and I want everyone there. Cam's family has become mine too. I love them and it'll mean a lot to me."
"Cam's family is everyone's family." I smiled and nodded. "True."
"Why do you look so worried?" Rashad asked. He always could catch a drift.
"Well, I want my mom to come and there's like three problems with that."
"Like?" Kaylen asked confused.
"My dad does know I met her. He hasn't seen her in 22 years. Plus, he hates my mom." She nodded. "You're going to have to put drama free on the invites."
I laughed. "I'll type 'NO ARGUING IN FRONT OF MY BABY' in big bold letters."
I walked into the shop and Niya screamed! "Oh my god!" I laughed.
"I heard you were pregos but I didn't believe it! I'm so happy for you, you look pretty... and fat." I kissed my teeth. "I hate you."
She kissed my cheek. "Hate you more, now come sit in this chair."
She started taking my hair out of the braided bun it was in and once it fell out, she laughed. "What the hell?"
I turned around and she waved me off. "Nothing bad, it's just... Like did you turn into Rapunzel in six months? This is some bullshit."
I started laughing and shrugged. "I don't know, but I want it chopped. It's too much." she nodded.
"Is this like a spur of the moment, hormone thing, or have you thought about it?"
"I've been thinking it since it reached my ass. I can't take it any longer."
"Dye?" I shook my head. "Can you strip it? I'm tired of this blonde actually." She nodded and got started.
"How am I cutting it? Back to how it was?" I shook my head no. "It was still too long then. I was thinking a little past my shoulders, something bobish."
"Okay, and hey..." She handed me a paper as she tied my hair into a ponytail.
She nodded and got to work with those scissors. I looked over the paper and she popped her gum. "Yep, it's this new thing we do in support of cancer, but it also makes profit. If you donate your hair you get five dollars off and the hair, I'm cutting off is long as hell Kyra, you should do it. " I nodded. "Sure."
She handed me my bundle of hair and I waved it around like a cowboy rope. She shook her head and started stripping my hair from the color with some solution she had.
"So, who's the father?"
"Cam.." She nodded. "You back with the kid?" I shook my head no.
"It's not the right timing for us, honestly. I'm not jumping back in his arms like that." She nodded. "I see, so what are you having?"
"A boy.. We're naming him Joshua." She squealed. "Soo freaking cute." I blushed. I love talking about my son because I was so excited for him to come and according my doctors, it might be a little earlier than we expected.
It was making us rush a little. We got sent three different car seats, the third one we didn't like so we gave it away and we put one in two of Cam's cars that were appropriate. He wasn't about to have my baby in a Lambo. That's out of the question.
We still needed two car seats seeing that I had my CTS and he was about to buy me a truck. I said we could just move them, but Cam being Cam.
"He's going to have a lot of hair!" Niya said shaking her head. "That's what my little sister said."
She started to blow dry my hair and straighten it out. I watched her every move and I was liking the turn out. I was black to the sandy brownness that made me and I liked it.
"Cam, is going to kill me.."
Niya frowned. "He loved the long hair didn't he?" I gave her a look.
"It will grow right back at the rate it's at so he can get over it.."
"It actually probably the vitamins you're taking... They help your skin clear up and shit like that. They probably growing that hair." I shrugged.
She finished up and I thanked her before leaving. I was completely satisfied; my hair wasn't being annoying anymore and it could still be put into a bun.
January in Miami wasn't that bad, but I felt like I was catching a cold. I sat in my car and dialed Cam as I pulled out of the parking lot. "I think I'm getting sick."
He kissed his teeth. "Imma bring you something later, go lay down for a while. Where you at?"
I checked my mirrors before getting on the freeway. "On my way home. I had some errands to run... Cam we need to go get these car seats. I want this stuff done early."
"Aight. I got you."
Kyra had given me a key to her house. I guess her lazy ass kept getting tired of me ringing the doorbell while she was sleeping. I walked in and headed straight into her kitchen, sitting the brown paper bag on the countertop.
I made my way up the steps and twisted her room door open. She was stretched out across the bed watching TV. I took my shoes off and crawled on the bed kissing her stomach.
She ran her hands through my hair and smiled. "You know, the last thing you need to be right now is sick right?" She nodded. "I'm sorry."
"It's fine. I got you some soup." She thanked me and returned her attention to the TV.
I noticed her hair was short and I frowned. "You cut your hair?" She nodded.
"You like it?" I shrugged. "It's cool."
"You hate it." She mumbled.
I kissed my teeth. "I never said that. You look great Ky. I just like your long hair. I like that you're all brown." I ran my hairs through her soft strands, and she smiled. "Thank you."
I spread her legs and placed kisses on her stomach making her smile. "Hey little man." I mumbled. "I can't wait till you get here man."
I looked up at Kyra and she nudged me to continue. "Your mom is so beautiful, you know that? I hope she forgives me and maybe we can have that little girl I know she's going to grow to want someday."
I put my head down for a second before letting out a breath. "Imma give you everything lil nigga... Yo gone have the hoes-" Kyra smacked my head and we both laughed. "Don't tell him that."
I waved her off. "I love you. We both love you and we're going to let you know every day for the rest of your life... Well, until we die and shit, but you know what I'm saying."
Kyra started to laugh, but it was cut off by a gasp. I looked up in shock and she grabbed my hands and placed them in certain spots on her stomach. That's when I felt it... I looked up at her and smiled.
The light vibrations in her skin...

The Legion of Nothing
Nick Klein is your average high school geek--if you can still count as average when your grandfather is a retired superhero, and you've been trained in the martial arts by his friend, a mysterious, immortal mercenary. After his grandfather dies, Nick inherits the last version of the Rocket suit, powered armor that allows him to shrug off bullets, smash through walls, and manipulate sound. Along with it comes the base of his grandfather's superhero team including the team's jet and trophies from forty years of fighting criminals and aliens. Together, Nick and his friends, descendants of his grandfather's teammates, attempt to bring back a superhero team that was originally formed during World War 2. Along the way they'll face the normal problems of high school (bullies, homework, and dating), and the less normal problems like supervillians and mysteries leftover from their grandparents' past. As a story, it uses the conventions of all eras of comics from the 1940s on, ranging from serious to silly. If you're hoping for a grim and gritty story, this isn't it. For a Change - A Slice of Life LitRPG
Change is constant. Starting over without your own memories? Connected to some System AI? Probably a pretty big change. Join Monday March as she attempts to deal with these changes and many others in a fantasy future with magic, monsters, AIs, and dating. Notes / Expectations: - About the writing style - Almost always First Person past tense (aside from the prologue), Chapters are short by design. Also, I'm not rushing to the conclusion, it's there, I'm in no hurry. - Genres - Fantasy is the most obvious umbrella, Action, Comedy, Romance, Psychological and everything else that makes a character into a comprehensive person will likely crop up, but won't be the main focus, at least not for hundreds of pages - Tags - Dungeon, Gender Bender (closer to gender themes), Post Apocalyptic and a few others might be a valid fit, but anything that doesn't fit most chapters will be set aside tag wise for now. Possible updates in the future if needed. - Content Warnings - While I want to write this story as accessible and friendly, sometimes a narrative gets messy, and sometimes people are naked, or get hurt either physically or mentally. Best to be prepared. As for cussing, well, our main character will avoid it. - Initial posting schedule is once a week, updates to the schedule will be posted here or in chapter notes.
