Nick Salvatore hasn't always had it easy in his life. He is the son of Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert Salvatore, also the brother of Stefanie Salvatore. He doesn't have much of friends, but he has some. He goes to mystic hills high school, and he isn't exactly the popular guy there. He is most known to be the loner who spends his time on reading supernatural things. Sometimes getting bullied for it.

What he didn't know yet was he himself was supernatural. A hybrid to be exact, half phoenix and half werewolf. The only one as his kind. He knows he's adopted but doesn't quite know who his biological parents are. Just that his mother gave him up for adoption when he was born and didn't want him. For him it's okay, because he has loving parents and a sister that he loves very much. He doesn't want to find out who or where his birth mom is, he simply doesn't care.

Elena and Damon know who his birth mom is. She is just some women who got pregnant on a strange way. You see she was in a black goo pit then suddenly she was out, and she was pregnant with Nick. Nick parents know this, and they know he is supernatural. They even know who his birth father is, exactly malivore. They got the information from Alaric when they told him about Nick when he turned seventeen years old exactly one year ago. That's when Alaric understood that he was the half brother of Landon. Of course, Alaric wanted him in the school, but his parents wanted him to have a normal life, as he hadn't found out he was a hybrid. They wanted to keep him safe. That's why they didn't tell him. However, that time had to come one day, and it wasn't before it was his eighteen birthday that was today.

Nick was going to have a birthday party with his close friends like the Saltzman twins, Mg, Caleb, Raf, Landon, Jed and none other than Hope Mikaelson. He knows they are supernatural, because that's something his parents couldn't hide it from since he would have found out sooner or later. He has known the twins since he was two year old. He even had his eyes for one of them Lizzie Saltzman, but he knew she didn't like him like that, so he got over that little smitten he had for her.

Then he met her Hope Mikealson. He met her when they were about ten years old. As from that he always knew there were something about the tribrid. He knew there were a connection between them, but he couldn't put his mind at it that time. However, as he turned fifteen he found out why he was so found of the beautiful tribrid. He was in fact in love with her, but he couldn't bring himself to tell her. As he didn't want to risk her not having the same feelings and turn him down then there would be awkward between them, and the thought of him ruining their relationship if he told her. So, instead he kept it to himself and locked away his feelings for the tribrid.

His still much have feelings for her but know she's with Landon his half brother, but what he doesn't know that the tribrid kind of has her eye on the hybrid. He knows the story behind Landon, but not that he is his half brother. Landon knows it as all of the Salvatore boarding school knows it too. But they were clearly told not to tell him as his parent wanted him to have a normal life.

Landon knows he is his half brother, in fact they all found out about Nick about two months ago. When a monster was out for him. As Landon was not malivore's target anymore. Malivore didn't even know he had a son who was a hybrid before three months ago. That's why the gang is more protective over Nick. They know he can't get killed as he is half phoenix, but they want to protect him. However, that is not exactly needed anymore as he does something to activate his werewolf side at his birthday party. Then he finds out the secret his parents were so desperately to hide from him.
