《Danganronpa: Retirement Plan》Prologue: Last Day Of Work [2]

The group began to thin out, most of the others flooding out of dining room to do as Nora suggested. However, one person stayed by my side.
My sister.
Fawn. The Ulti— Ex Ultimate Digital Artist.
Fawn. (She/Her)
Ex Ultimate Digital Artist
She probably doesn't want to be alone after the whole killing game thing. And I completely understand that.
"What do we do...?" Fawn looked to me. She was obviously anxious.
"I guess we'll play along for now," I shrugged. "Explore, meet the others, and do whatever else Nora told is to do."
My sister stayed quiet. She seemed to bury herself in her large green sweater, like a turtle retreating to it's shell to hide from danger. She made her sweater seem much bigger on herself than it actually was; her beanie met the same fate.
She's getting scared. I need to do something.
"Oh, look!" I pointed at the dining table. "There are some cookies left. Wanna grab them before someone else does?"
"Sure." My twin agreed.
We both snatched a cookie, leaving a final one on the plate.
As we finished, I got a good look around the dining room. There wasn't much to note other than the table was long and had 16 chairs exactly. The kitchen was connected to the dining room via an open doorway in the back.
"Let's take a look inside." I commanded.
The kitchen was large and well stocked, but completely normal. Nothing that spelled an axe welding maniac from a horror movie had used it recently. I'm not sure if it being normal was something I liked or not.
"Do either of you know how to cook?" An unfamiliar voice asked us.
"Nothing." Fawn shook her head upon hearing the question.
"I can cook simple things and follow a recipe," I replied. "Nothing like a gourmet three course meal or anything."
"That's okay!" The cyanette comforted both of us. "This is the perfect time to pick up a new skill."
I see someone has completely given up and accepted being stuck here as fate.
"Are you a chef?" Curiously inquired I.
"Close, but no." They shook their head. "I'm a food tester. The Ex Ultimate Food Tester, to be specific."
"Sorry if this comes off as a rude question to ask, but," I titled my head. "How did you become the ExUltimate Food Tester?"
"Glutton allergy, lactose intolerance... It's pretty hard to test food if you can't eat half the stuff that needs to be taste tested." They explained with a sad sigh. "Well, I can still eat that stuff but I get really sick afterwards."
"Ah, alright." I replied. "I'm sorry about that."
"It's fine. There's a lot of great food that I still can eat!" Their personality did a complete flip as they bounced back. "I'm Rory, by the way. If you ever wanna cook and need someone to try out your food, hit me up!"
Rory (They/Them)
Ex Ultimate Food Tester

"It's nice to meet you, Rory," I said, before giving my introduction. "My name's Felix and I'm the Ex Ultimate Lucky Student."
Felix (He/Him)
Ex Ultimate Lucky Student
"Fawn. Digital Artist." My twin stated in as few words as possible.
"Nice to meet you both," Rory cheerfully told us. "I'm gonna browse the selection in the pantry if you guys need me for anything."
My sister and I looked around the kitchen, steering clear of the pantry to stay out of Rory's way, looking for anything that could be deemed notable. The only thing we saw was a note on the refrigerator that read: Food restocks every other day. Ice restocks every five days. —Wolf :3
Other than the note, there wasn't much for us to see. The pantry was just food, so we went back into the dinning room. It was surprising to see the blonde girl eating the last cookie on the plate.
"Hey," I greeted her.
"Oh hey," She replied, swallowing her cookie faster than she probably should have. "What's up?"
"We're just exploring the place," I answered. "You?"
"I'm looking for a place with good lighting," The blonde replied. "I suppose the kitchen is okay."
"What do you need good lighting for?" My sistered questioned her.
"I need to do my daily vlog," She causally replied. "Wouldn't want my followers to go ballistic or anything after not posting for a day."
"Are you famous?" I guessed.
"I'd like to think I still am!" Enthusiastically replied the blonde. "Being the Ex Ultimate Influencer hasn't entirely ruined my reputation."
"Ex Ultimate Influencer?" I repeated her talent hoping it would ring a bell in my mind. It did not. "I've actually never heard of you. Sorry."
"That's probably why I lost my title..." Sighed the blonde. "TopazTrends? Does that name ring any bells?"
"No, it doesn't." I answered.
"Ugh!" A noise of frustration escaped her mouth, before she went back to investigating the room's lighting. "You can call me Topaz or Tabitha. It doesn't really matter which one."
Tabitha (She/Her)
Ex Ultimate Influencer
"I'll go with Tabitha, since Topaz seems like more of an online name," I said to her. "Nice to meet you. The name's Felix, Ex Ultimate Lucky Student. And this is my sister Fawn, Ex Ultimate Digital Artist."
"Cool! An artist!" Tabitha's eyes seemed glued to my sister after I revealed her talent. "You can help me find a decent light source with your magic art vision, right?"
"Uh, y-yeah," Fawn nodded.
I watched as Fawn and Tabitha spent a few minutes messing around with chairs and determining the best light angles of the room. Once they finally settled on a place, Tabitha used her personal phone (which had not be confiscated for some reason) to film a vlog. Afterwards, she she showed off her purple bunny phone case.
"It's kinda weird how your have your phone still, Tabitha," I pointed out. "Why would they let you keep yours, but no one else?"

"Maybe for her talent?" Fawn guessed.
"Yeah, I dunno," Tabitha shrugged. "I feel like it would be easier to just take it than go through the trouble of tampering with it to shut off all my ways to communicate with it."
Tabitha demonstrated that she could not make any calls, text, or connect to any wifi. She also had no data or cell service to make up for the wifi. She could only take photos, videos, and whatever else that she could do offline with her phone.
"But I'm super happy I got to keep it," She hugged her phone as spoke. "I genuinely don't know what I would do without it."
Maybe that's why they let her keep it. Because she's so addicted to the point of where she can't function without her phone.
"I guess I see you two superstars later!" The influencer gave a parting wave. "See ya!"
Having explored everything the dining room and kitchen could offer us, my sister and went back into the long hallway with our rooms. Two men stood outside the rooms investigating.
"If these things are soundproof..." A ginger dressed much like a cowboy started to say. He drifted off to sleep before he could finish.
"I suppose I won't need to worry about others keeping me awake at night." Stated a man with icy blue hair.
Soundproof room? I've never even had my own room before, much less one that was completely soundproof.
"Hey!" I greeted the guys, slightly nervously to be in their presence. The ways their eyes darted to me when I spoke gave me an unexplainable anxious.
Maybe I should have thought a little more before I spoke? My voice sounded a bit odd–
"Howdy." The one with a cowboy hat greeted me back.
"My sister and I are going around meeting everyone," I told the dudes. "She's Fawn, Ex Ultimate Digital Artist. And I'm Felix, Ex Ultimate Lucky Student."
"How do you lose a title as an Ultimate Lucky Student?" Asked the male with puffy icy blue hair.
"Uh... It's kinda embarrassing." My face heated up. I covered it with my hands, hiding my reaction from the strangers.
My sister shot a nervous glance at me, before opening her mouth to say something. She didn't say anything because the man with the cowboy hat and the thick accent started speaking instead.
"It's a pleasure to meet ya both," The ginger with a cowboy hat said. "The name's Hunter. I've been the Ex Ultimate Equestrian ever since I was knocked off a horse during a competition."
Hunter (He/Him)
Ex Ultimate Equestrian
"Knocked off?" Fawn quietly gasped.
"Was it an accident?" I asked a follow up question.
"No." Hunter sighed, pulling his hat down. "I don't wanna go into too much detail right now, so in short, my right arm was never able to heal properly so I quickly lost my talent to someone else when I couldn't ride like I used to before."
Yikes... That sounds awful. Losing your title because you got hurt. It makes it worse when you factor in that fact that Hunter was hurt on purpose.
Who would do such a thing and why?
"I lost my talent in similar way." The man with a rather cold demeanor said. "My injury was entirely my own fault though."
"Getting caused you to lose your title too?" I inquired.
"Sadly." He nodded. "I went out on the ice when before it was ready to skate on, because I felt I absolutely needed extra practice for an upcoming competition. One of my opponents nearly matched my skill level and I was afraid if they won, I would lose my title. Though, due to my own stupidity, I made myself the Ex Ultimate Ice Skater."
I'm noticing a pattern about injuries causing people with more active talents to lose them. Does this happen often?
"And the name of this stupid ice skater is Nikolas, in case you were wondering." He introduced himself, sounding angry with himself as he did so.
Nikolas (He/Him)
Ex Ultimate Ice Skater
"No need to be so down on yourself, partner," Hunter advised. "Everybody messes up sometimes."
"I didn't just mess up," Nikolas corrected. "I fucked up."
"It's alright. Recovering from ''eff-ups'' is always possible..." The equestrian stated, before growing drowsy.
Fawn and I then left the those two to met more people. Though, we made a quick halt to investigate our rooms since we hadn't been inside them yet. We explored my room first.
"There's a lot of clovers in here," My twin pointed out.
Green seemed to be the main (and only) color used in my room. It was nearly blinding how much green was used in one place. Clover pattens on the wall paper, bed spread, rug, and even on the ceiling as glow-in-the-dark stickers.
"Probably to rub in the whole ''Lucky Student'' thing or something." I guessed, not wanting to focus too much on those details.
The room was equipped was a bed, a dresser containing two different sets of clothes from the ones we wore, a desk with some pens and paper, and a full bathroom. It was rather empty in the grand scheme of the things.
"Wanna check out yours now?" I questioned my sister.
"Sure." She nodded.
Fawn's room looked much nicer than mine. The walls were painted a simple gray, much less eye straining than mine. Her bed spread was blue with a plaid pattern across it. Much like me her room had a dresser with three different sets of clothes, along with a desk. However, her desk had more than pens and paper. It was equipped with a drawing tablet to suit her hobby.
I watched as my sister tested out her tablet, checking it for anything regarding the killing game. Unsurprisingly, she found nothing, and any connection to the wifi seemed to be blocked on the tablet.
"At least you can draw." I pointed out.
"Yeah." She said. "Lets go somewhere else."
