《Songbird (PeterPan//OUAT)》Chapter 2: 1 year later

"J.R!!" Henry squealed as he came bounding down the school stairs and straight into my arms.
"Howdy little rascal." I said in my best American accent. Henry's face went blank, "Stick to being British, J.R., it suits you better." I pouted as he smiled again and we began walking towards my little blue car. "So, it is 3:00, park, woods, or home?" I asked as I unlocked the blue buggy and climbed in before starting up the car. "Woods! I want to see you sing with everyone!" he giggled as he buckled in. I smiled and drove off into the direction of the woods.
"So how are your Mom's holding up?" I asked the eleven year old as we walked through the woods. He shrugged as he took in the sight of the autumn leaves, "As much as two people can hate each other, they both care for me and they try their best. Sometimes, they can get a bit overwhelming so I like spending time with you in the woods. You're so connected with nature, no wonder Pan loved you." I laughed off his words and wrapped my arm around his shoulders. "Hey, you're freezing." I stated as I clasped Henry in a warm hug. He shook his head stubbornly, "I'm fine." I rolled my eyes and pulled out the blanket I brought with me and wrapping it around his small frame. He smiled gratefully before kissing my forehead. I chuckled and mussed his shaggy hair before stopping and looking up at 'our' tree stump. It was a large stump that we used as a small platform for him to sit upon as I walked around and sung to the little animals. He climbed onto the stump and I walked around to the circle of trees, tapping on each of them lightly. As if they were waiting, the little blue bird flew out of the tree with his family, then a rabbit, a squirrel, and finally, Henry's favorite, the little fawn. I smiled at all the little animals and opened my mouth.
I remember tears streaming down your face when I said i'd never let you go
when all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said "don't leave me here alone" but all that's dead and gone and passed, tonight

I pat the little squirrel on the tree nearest me and took out a small berry I picked on the way here. He jumped gratefully and took the berry before jumping back on the tree and sitting silently with his food.
Just close your eyes, the sun is going down
you'll be alright, no one can hurt you now
come morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound
sound, oooooooh-oh oh oh, ooooooh, oh oh oh
I led the fawn over towards Henry and placed a small amount of berries in his palm before guiding his mitten-covered hand over near the fawn's mouth. The small deer perked up and gladly nibbled on the berries as I walked away towards the rabbits.
don't you dare look out your window, darling everything's on fire
the war outside our door keeps raging on
hold on, to this, lullaby, even when the music's gone, gone.
Just close your eyes, the sun is going down,
you'll be alright, no one can hurt you now,
come morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound, sound.
I gave the rabbits each a baby carrot that Henry had smuggled out from lunch today. They happily chewed on the orange-y goodness.
Ooooooooh-oh-oh-oh, ooooooooh-oh-oh-oh
Oh woah, hmm oh woah
Just close your eyes, the sun is going down
you'll be alright, no one can hurt you now
come morning light, you and i'll be safe and sound, sound
I finished the song and checked the time. It was now 3:50. I walked over to Henry and pat the fawn once more before grabbing Henry's hand. "Time to go little bug." I said as I grasped his hand in mine. He sighed and waved towards all our animal friends sadly as they watched us leave the woods and back towards my blue buggy.
We managed to make it to his house with minutes to spare. I unlocked the door for him and we walked in to find Emma with a badge in her hand and Regina with a pissed off look on her face. I quickly covered Henry's ears, just in case. "Regina? Is everything alright?" I asked as I eyed Emma warily. She sighed exasperated. "Can you take Henry out for a while? Anywhere as long as you guys are home before curfew." I nodded and sent Henry up to his room to grab a thicker coat and put his school things away. "Herbal tea?" I questioned as I lightly pat her shoulder and pulled out a chair for her. She nodded as she rubbed her temples and I set to work on the tea. Once it was done I poured some into one of her teacups and then retreated back to the kitchen with a platter of snack and the tea. "Would you like some tea Emma?" I asked as she looked around nervously. She nodded, "Sure." I smiled politely at her and pulled out one of my own teacups I kept here and poured some still warm tea. I placed the herbal tea in front of them as they sat across from each other. "Now, please no fighting 30 minutes before Henry is supposed to come home, please? He already has to worry about you two so much and he cares for you both equally, even if it doesn't show." I said as I shook Emma's hand and hugged Regina around the shoulders. Henry chose that moment to bound down the stairs with his coat around his shoulders and his special storybook in hand. "Say bye to your Mom's, Henry." I said as I buttoned up his coat for him. "Bye mom," he said as he pecked Emma on the cheek, "bye mom." He said again as he gave Regina his hand to shake.

"Henry." I scolded as he looked down in shame at my tone. "Apologize." he nodded and apologized before pecking her forehead and saying his farewell. I nodded in approval and shot Regina a sympathetic look as she looked down at her hands. "He loves you both equally, just let him process this." I said as I pecked Regina's cheek and walked out.
I clasped Henry against my side as I read the storybook to him out loud. He sighed deeply and I looked down to see him sound asleep. It was only 8:30 but I guess it was a long day. I pushed my plate away and sighed. I had no idea how I was going to carry him back to the car. I closed the storybook and was about to wake him up when a large hand stopped me. I looked up, straight into the blue eyes of a tall, blonde boy. "Do you need help Miss?" he asked as he straightened out his brown shirt. I smiled gratefully and nodded. He smiled a small smile and picked Henry up gently with ease. I grabbed his book and went over to the register. "Thank you..."
"Felix." he said with a small smile as he carried Henry in his arms. I smiled, "Thank you Felix." He smiled wider and nodded, "Not a problem."
After paying I walked out of the diner to see that it has been raining. I smiled sheepishly at Felix as I covered both of us to the best of my ability with the one umbrella I had. I unlocked my car and opened the back door for Felix to put Henry inside. I kept us covered as I shut the door and looked up at Felix. "Thank you, again."
"It was no problem, Haven." he said. My eyes widened slightly at the sound of my name. He chuckled, "You're kind've well known around here." He pointed towards a poster behind me with my name on it and a list of quotes I've said. I laughed, "Oh, haha, wow, um, yeah, I guess." I said as I blushed. He chuckled with that deep voice of his. "It was nice meeting you." I said as I held out his hand for him to shake. He shook his head, "I'm a hugger." He said as he brought his lean arms around my petite frame and pulled me closer to his body. I was shocked for all two seconds before I finally responded and wrapped my arms around him as well. He held on longer than I was and I gently pushed him away. "I should probably get him home, he has a curfew." He nodded, "Right, It was, uh, it was nice meeting you." I smiled," You too, thanks again." He nodded once more before turning and walking off into the distance with sheets of rain pouring on him. I shook my head and climbed into my car, starting it up, and taking Henry home.
