It seems like days but really only minutes when Kayden senses his brother, Jeff, and Shelly.

He raises his head up watching them as they run down the beach.

He's on his feet in seconds, moving away from Avery's side. A fierce growl rings out loud.

It stops the others from coming to close to what is his to protect.

Avery.

Just the thought of what she's going through has him wanting to drop to his knees. A quick glance over his shoulder shows no improvement to whatever the hell is going on with her. It causes his wolf to stretch, push at him. His skin ripples and rolls but he holds it together. Being more animal than man won't help her. Not now anyways.

"Kayden." Jeff says calmly, both hands raised in the air,"You have to let us get close. We need to figure out what is going on."

Another growl rips from Kayden's chest, but he moves back to Avery's side, giving Jeff a nod. Not really able to say now to his Alpha.

Kayden watches the three like the predator that he is. His wolf riding him hard.

"What happened?" Jeff asks looking over Avery's still body.

Cameron goes on to explain what went on with Avery. Kayden barley listening. His full attention on the girl he only met today, but means everything to him.

"I don't know?" Shelly says timidly, not getting to close.

"Don't know what?" Kayden snaps.

"What's wrong with her. This is entirely new. She's entirely new breed. I don't know how to fix it."

Kayden doesn't like that. Not one damn bit. He starts to pace back and forth, never straying to far from Avery.

What to do? It's driving him mad. There has to be something. It can't end before it even began.

He stops, whips around towards the others. "What if I bond us together. Could that work?"

"What!"Cam yells.

Shelly looks hopefully, Jeff worried.

"Could it work?" He moves closer yet. Almost on top of Avery's prone body.

"If you have the connection, but you just met her Kayden. How could you know?" Jeff asks crossing his arms, "That's why I wanted you four to spent time with her, its to soon to know if one of you could possibly bond with her."

Yeah, Kayden just met her. But she's it. The part of himself he's been searching for. What every wolf searches for. Their life mate. He knew as soon as he felt her cross into their lands. Something just clicked deep inside his self and his wolf half. There is no mistaking that unbreakable connection.

"I know." He growled out. Waiting. Hovering. Not able to do a damn thing without the Alphas approval. Nervous energy flutters through his body.

They stare long and hard into each other's eyes. Jeff gives a nod causing Kayden to release a burst of air.

"Your crazy." Cams eyes are wide as saucers.

"Cam." Jeff warns.

"Take her to the house Kayden. Then do it. Hopefully your not wrong. Once we deal with the others we'll join you."

Kayden bends down beside Avery, a hand goes under her knees the other her upper back. He lifts her up like she's the most precious thing in the world and she is. She makes no movement, not a twitch when he gets her cradle in his arms.

That worries him.

She's cold as ice. It seeps from her body and into his. He doesn't like the cold dead feel of her body. Dread pools into his gut.

Maybe I'm to late.

"Stay with me." He whispers out. Hoping she can hear him. Wanting her to fight whatever this is.

His feet eat up the distance between the beach and the house. Moving as fast as possible. He's through the back door and up the stairs.

Not wanting to cause her any more stress. He goes to a guest room instead of hers. Remembering how she wanted her things gone.

He lays her down gently on the cream cover. Her body stays still, eyes still wide open and vacant.

What if she's gone?

Kayden pulls a chair over to the side of the bed, sitting down he takes in a deep breath. He lets it out slowly as he touches his forehead to Avery's.

She's ice cold. Concentrate.

Kayden has never done this. Never been told how to form the life mate bond. It's a well kept secret.

Will she even except it. Know what's going on. God I hope so.

His eyes close as he looks within himself to the buzzing connection he felt when Avery crossed into their lands.

There. In his core. It's gold. Okay what now. He thinks and pounders. Looking around with his minds eye he sees it. A faint gold cord. He latches onto. An electrical shock runs through his body.

Cold. God it's so cold. Opening his eyes he sees nothing but the blackest darkness. Excitement runs through him. He's made it. He's here in Avery's mind.

He starts to think of Avery. Her tiny statute. Her dark silk hair. Her icicle eyes. The way she moves.

The more he thinks the more he glows with their connection. Lighting up the dark like a beacon. Now to find Avery.

He starts walking forward. Following his gut.

What has happened to you?

He thinks. To live in this darkness. He hopes he can help her.

Kayden moves forward. His light glowing bright. Soon he sees a figure on the ground.

Avery.

The closer he gets the more of her he can see. She looks so tiny with her pale arms curled around her legs. Her forehead resting on her knees.

Can she sense me?

Kayden squats down in front of her, places his hands on her arms. She's so small. His hands wrapping completely around her cold arms.

"Avery." Kayden says softly. Not wanting to scare her, but needing her attention.

She's so freaking beautiful. He already feels love for her. He'd protect her till his dying breath.

"Kayden." Avery grasps out like he's her life line.

He just wants to gather her up and never let go, but first he has to get her out of here.

Her head raises causing her silky black hair to fall backwards like water. Her blue eyes lock onto his green ones.

"Why are you here?" She whispers out.

A soft smile forms on Kayden's face. He sees a little bit of life in her eyes and face. More so than before.

He sits down in front of her. Never moving his eyes from her face.

"You need me Avery. And I need you."

It's crushing for Kayden to say he needs her. He's a wolf. A powerful alpha. He's not suppose to need anything. But it's the truth. He does need her more than she realizes. Then he realized.

Kayden watches her shake her head no. Hard and fast. Damn. She's going to give herself whiplash.

He scoots closer, catching her face by placing both of his hands on either side of her cheeks.

Surprise splashes across her features.

He can't help but let out a relieve sigh as Avery leans into his palm. Nuzzling it like a wolf. It prompts him to move closer wrapping his arms around her body. Shielding her.

A growl forms in his chest. She needs to eat. Nothing but skin in bones.

Placing his mouth next to her ear he whispers, "Yes. You do Avery let me help you."

Kayden feels her body tense up. Causing him to worry. Did he get to close?

"Don't you feel it. This connection between us. We're the same half making a whole." He says softly.

"I don't want to leave." Avery whimpers, " To go back means never being free. I can't."

It kills him hearing the pain in her voice. Knowing she's afraid. She will feel free again. But not here. This place isn't freedom. It's a death sentence.

Kayden turns Avery in his arms till they're face to face.

"You have to. This isn't real." He says softly but commanding. Wanting her to understand.

"It is. It's real and almost perfect." Avery says with so much conviction. He knows she believes it. And that scares him more than anything.

"No." He snaps out. Taking a deep breath he tries again. Calmer this time.

"I can help you Avery. In here you will waste away. Out there, in the real world, I can help you."

"No." She's cries out.

It breaks his heart knowing she feels safe in this endless darkness. He will fix this. Her. Make her life some what better.

Hopefully.

"Please. Come with me." He sees a shutter run through her body. Maybe knowing he can't stay will make her come.

" I can't stay here Avery." His soft lips touches her forehead. He lingers for minutes. Enjoying the feel of her skin on his lips. Her smell.

"Trust me." Kayden breaths out.

He watches her face. Emotions and decisions waring with her.

"Okay." Avery whispers.

A gorgeous smile breaks across his face. Then his cool lips touches hers.

It's like fireworks. Her lips. Her taste. So sweet.

Kayden's tongue slips into her mouth. They tangle together in their very own dance.

The same intense shock rocks through his body with searing heat. Then nothing as light takes them both away.
