《The Ripper》The Professor

A younger Eric sat at a table with his sister right by his side with the other kids right before him, each and every one dressed the same in white with collars around their necks, all looking down at their food which was… to be honest, Eric didn’t know what it was and from the way it looked and tasted he would rather not know what it was.
“I am sick of this.” Eric spoke smashing his spoon unto the table, “we all are, but you have got to hold on a bit longer I am coming up with a plan…”David spoke “a plan you say, hold on you say, a bit longer… we have been waiting for a month for a whole bloody month we have been here and everyday someone walks out that door but they never come back , Charlie, Thomas, Jessica, Vincent… they were all just like us or have you forgotten how long do you want us to wait, until we are all gone?!” Eric began his rant and everyone all the table could sense the anger and frustration in his voice.
“I understand, trust me we all do”, Alec another kid sitting by David spoke up “but we have to plan this out if we just do this randomly, we could make things worse” Eric scoffed at that, “worse? Please do tell what could possibly worse” at his words, men came in with guns at hand “line up!” the one leading them shouted and everyone got to their feet moving to get in line.
The kids on Eric’s table got up as well rushing to line up but when Esther saw her brother had refused to get up, she began pulling on his clothes “brother hurry, the bad men will get angry if you don’t” Eric smiled at his sister, “don’t worry about me go join David and the others.” Eric rubbed her head smiling “but…” Esther began but Eric cut her off “trust me” Esther stayed put for a moment with tears in her eyes before running to David.

Soon everyone had lined up except Eric who sat down, the leader noticed this and walked up to him “I said lineup boy” the leader was right by Eric, Eric looked up at the man then proceeded to finish his food, “I won’t say this again boy, now line. Up” the man spoke up once more and the anger in his voice could not be clearer but seeing Eric ignoring him, he struck with the butt of his gun.
Eric on the other hand was prepared for that moving away just in time to avoid the strike before he grasps on the man’s arm and then using his legs grasp unto the man’s neck and flip him through the table, Eric stood up watching the men who were now rushing for him, he let out a sigh as he rushed at them as well. He leapt towards them and grabbed unto one of their shoulders and using it as support delivered two kicks to two men before fully latching unto the guy who he first grabbed turning him around and used him as a shield as the men kept firing tranquilizers.
The man was soon filled with tranquilizers and fell to the ground with a thud Eric rolled forward, holding on to one gun and hitting the wrist of the guy holding it before wielding the gun like some sort of bat and smacking the guy on the head and continuing with the swing spun around smashing another’s legs sending him falling face first before smashing the gun on the back of his head and continuing his attack on the men like a wild animal jumping from one man to the other moving like a wild animal and evading the shots.
After seven more guys, Eric was struggling to stand his legs felt like lead, looking down at his legs he saw he had been hit with quite a few tranquilizers, looking around he was surrounded with a few men pointing their weapons at him. His vision began to fade but he was holding on, when the leader who Eric had first thrown through the table was back on their feet and was now pissed as he headed for him with a handgun at hand he walked until he was a few inches away from Eric and then placed his pistol on Eric’s forehead.

“nooo” Esther tried to rush for her brother but was held back by David. The leader looked into Eric’s eyes but when he failed to see the fear, he expected to see he got angry and hit him on the head with the gun knocking him out.
Eric woke up in some sort of lab tied to a post just hanging checking himself, he found out his shirt was gone but the collar on his neck was still there preventing him from using his powers. *sigh* “I’m disappointed X-1 I thought we had made progress” he walked out the shadows wearing his white lab coat with is head bald as always. “I really did X-1, but then you went to harm my men, now pray tell why would you do such a thing.”
Eric watched him in the eye by didn’t let out a word, “well I am waiting, nothing… *sigh*you know when you break the rules you get punishment.” The professor made a sign to someone Eric was unable to see when a volt went through him causing him to release a blood curling scream as the voltage continued running through his body, the professor stood watching the whole thing happen for full minute before speaking out “stop.” Eric’s head dropped immediately with every part of him smoking.
“wake up boy, I’ve dealt with your kind for years and I know even without your abilities that isn’t enough to kill you.” Eric weakly rose his head looking at the professor, “I know you are angry but you did break the rules first” the professor continued with a smile on his face “we are family X-1, family and it hurts me to do this to you…” the professor paused before he burst out laughing “no it doesn’t but this punishment session of ours is wasting valuable time that could be used for research. Tell you what I’m in a somewhat good mood, mention your name and your free to go.”
Eric took a few breaths gathering his strength before he spoke up, “my name is Eric Lycan” “mmm now come on you and I know what I mean I’ll give one more chance what is your name” “my name is Eric Lycan” The smile disappeared from the professors face “I think you need a bit more education…. Again” “arrgh!” Eric let loose his screams as the current went through him once more.
………
“the professor has Elise, there is no way I am leaving her there.” Present day Eric spoke with conviction and the Agent was silent, he knew Eric’s fear was completely warranted. The professor, a man who was obsessed with the Demi-humans and a survivor of the original Order .
…..
“Tell me what I want to know and I don’t have to go through this as this whole torture session of ours is wasting valuable time that could be used for research so what say you.” The professor walked out of the shadows with his trademark smile on his face as he starred at Elise who was chained up.

It's the beginning of a series I know I'm going to enjoy, with great writing and hints of deep in-game lore. Four story anthology
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] [participant in #NaNoWriMo] Preface: This fiction will contain four different stories set up as a challenge for myself and to get better at writing. The challenge for royal road writathon is a 55.555 word goal while the nanowrimo challenge is 50.000 words. Reader suggestions is turned on, feel free to point out errors I missed and I'll fix them up! Chasing sun, napping softly: Cultivation/Xianxia genre. Some parts will poke at the ridiculousness of the Xianxia gerne. We follow the life of a magical fox monster, who doesn't like how the cultivation world works. Said beast seems to have more knowledge than is usual for normal magical beasts. In it's infinite wisdom it decided to search for the main character of the cultivation world to have a cozy and safe place beside him. Our fox will act as a "wise beast" to coast along on the main characters rise to greatness, all for peace, happiness and that amazing napping spot in the sun. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing in first person. Comedic effect between talking vaguely and sounding wise. The cost of heroism: A story more centered around fights and mental health of hired mercenaries/heroes. The world is infected with an eldritch corruption. Humans are trying their best to explore and clear out wilderness and the dungeons hiding in them to establish new cities. Lords seek for hired hands to do the professional work. Thanks to the setting, the story will show how awful pasts are the norm and how pragmatic people became thanks to that. People exchange their sanity for riches, fame and gods acceptance. Interpersonal relationships change drastically and quickly. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing grim scenes/imparting a feeling of how grim the world is. Writing fight scenes. Showing different mental states. Describing their influence on people during fights, walks or even after successful or failed campaigns. Who will be the next powerhouse? : A story about a gaming show, it's host Staan and the different participants. Stereotype characters, stereotype backstories, silly challenges and quizzes. The winner of those challenges gets powerups for their power system. Be it magic, ki, psychic power or anything else imaginable and unimaginable to reach the power of gods. The challenges for myself with this story: A softer tone for storytelling. Making the reader smile and enjoy themselves. A different try at slice of life story. I was left behind on earth as my family conquered another world and enjoys riches, but that's okey because I got a cheat too! : Stereotypical Isekai story parody twisted into an Urban Fantasy story. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing over the top and overdramatic scenarios/scenes Writing in first person. Walking into stereotypical scenarios and making them more dramatic/giving them a twist. Different type of humor.
