《The Ripper》The Order

*knock*knock* Eric had appeared in front of the agent’s door, he didn’t know why he was here. He didn’t have any good memories with their kind but when he looked down at the child who was holding on to his hand tightly while trying her best to bite back the sobs he steeled his heart and knocked once more.
The door opened to reveal Agent Michaels who was clearly surprised to see Eric at his door, “Erm… hello?” “We need your help.” At Eric’s words he finally looked away from Eric and saw the little Rose whose tear stained cheeks softened his heart. “Come in”, he moved aside allowing them to come in as he closed the door behind them.
Eric examined the room as he entered and he could easily tell that the agents hadn’t been here long. Agent Michaels partner came in and saw the little girl and attempted to bring her away to freshen up but Rose avoided and hid between Eric’s leg clearly still shaken about recent events. Eric looked at the kid hiding behind his legs and let out a sigh as he went down one knee and looked Rose straight in her eye and moved away a strand of hair and put on a smile, the same smile he used to wear to comfort his sister whenever she was scared.
Rose looked him straight in the eye and let out only three words, “Eric I’m scared”. At that moment Eric did not see Rose before him but saw his sister, Eric felt his heart ache then stretched out his hand and pat her hand her head just like how he used to do to his sister whenever she was scared “it’s alright, everything is alright. I’m here and I promise that as long as I am here I won’t let anything bad happen to you.” Rose stared into his eyes and after a long pause he nodded her head and rushed in for a hug which took Eric by surprise.

After a few minutes she then went with the agent but kept looking back the whole way. “Never would have pegged you as good with kids”, Eric turned to the Agent to see him munching on a snickers bar which once again seemed to appear out of nowhere. Ignoring the comment along with the snickers bar, “we have a problem…” “I know.”
Agent Michaels cut in getting a raised brow from Eric, he proceeded to grab a remote and pressing a button the television was switched to a video Eric watched for a few seconds before realizing that this video was taken at the school, the video was of him fighting of the suits in all his demi-human glory. Eric’s eyes widened as he realized what this meant there was a video out there. Agent Michaels saw the look of panic on his face sand spoke up “don’t worry we got rid of all videos and posts regarding the incident. We don’t want locals getting involved although it was just there for a few minutes we have no idea how many have actually seen this… I think its time you skipped town.”
“I can’t” Eric’s words caused Agent Michaels who was drinking a bottle of water to perform a spit take. “why the hell can’t you?” “he’s here” those words caused the Agent’s eyes to widen.
Somewhere near town.
A group of men were lined up all looking at the horizon ahead waiting for something, a black dot was soon spotted in the distance in a few minutes a deafening sound was heard with it came the black dot which was a helicopter. The wind from the helicopter blowing against them messing up their hair and causing their clothes to flutter in the wind.
The helicopter landed right before them on it door was a symbol one that was hated amongst all Demi-human kind, the symbol was a golden circle with a golden crown on a skull with cross swords below within it. This was the symbol of one of the most infamous groups in demi-human history, the order.

The doors were opened and two men fully decked in combat gear with assault rifles jumped out first and then stood in attention soon a man came out next. The man wore a white lab coat with a black shirt underneath he looked up with his black eyes which managed to send shivers to all who saw his eyes. The men were trained and feared almost nothing but when they looked in those eyes the memories of the horrors the man before them had inflicted upon thousands of people flashed through their minds and they dared not look any more.
The man began to move towards the others, the sunlight reflecting of his bald head as he took long strides towards the men. “Sir!” the men in suits immediately went alert. “any updates?” “we have yet to locate X-1 after the confrontation at the school we are beginning to think that he might have skipped town once more sir.” “oh he is here, I know it. If he planned on skipping town he wouldn’t have bothered saving the child. What about the woman?”
“she is secured sir? We have questioned her so as to gain information on X-1 but we have been unable to gain any concrete information and have come to the conclusion that she might be unaware of who he truly is.”
“Interesting… take me to her.”

The Errant Otherworlder Watanabe
“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and trucks whom transport men to other worlds.” Meet our titular protagonist Haruto Watanabe, a man who has all the markings of a good protagonist for a generic portal fantasy story. As an overworked office worker, to escape from the grips of crippling capitalist alienation, he had taken up to reading many stories where young men like him were transported to other worlds and enjoyed their lives at a most leisurely pace. Armed with genre-awareness and (what he believes to be) a marketable personality which would make him an easy audience self-insert, he longed for the day the isekai express would take him to his long-awaited adventure to another world. When the fateful day came, where the fair yet harsh mistress that is the fabled truck took Watanabe on one last date to the other side, he was most ready to escape his previous life, ready to embark on an errant so great he’d be most overpowered, his heroics so exceptional and his harem so vast that they would barely fit ten or twenty volumes of an overly long novel made by a desperate author looking for quick cash. Lo and behold however, Watanabe instead found himself in a low fantasy world which lacked severely in the department of any game-like systems, cheat skills or easily charmed damsels in distress. In a setting so antithetical to his established genre savviness or any attempts at power fantasy, how will a man like Watanabe, lacking in strength, wits and courage, manage to survive in a land most foreign to him? This is my first time trying to share to the wider world what I’ve written, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the errantry of Watanabe as much as I enjoy writing about them. I'll be posting one chapter per week on Sundays, along with extra chapters whenever I get the chance to write more than usual.
