As soon as we reach the town, the guards stopped us. They asked if we have a special pass or we are just travelers.
[We have a pass] Said Ryckna. She proceed to show the guards a kind of presentation card that allowed us to go through without any more questions.
[Is that a scholar guild ID?]
Ryckna replied with a smile and a nodding.
However, this is indeed a big city; the main road is full of people from all kind of “human species”, nulls, beast, hybrids and goblins. There are also many shop stands selling from food to weapons and armors. You can also see a ruined castle at the distance around the center of city.
While looking around I suddenly bump into someone.
[Hmp, I knew I smelled a monster.]
A huge boar beast person stands in front of me; he is like 3m tall with fur covering all of his skin, four tusks come from the upper and lower front of his mouth all pointing upwards, he is wearing a full sturdy plate armor and has a short axe and a big shield in his back.
He called me a monster well the others alraunes kills everything that gets near them so they can be seen as monsters, but we are not.
[Don’t scare the little plant, we don’t want her to run away before we capture it.]
A female boar beast said in a very snobby tone. She is wearing a light armor and has a short bow, in appearance the female is smaller and doesn’t have tusk coming from their mouth, their complexion is not that different they both bulky but the male obviously had a lot of muscle training.
{Capture me?}
There is also a male null; a regular human like in Earth, he is wearing a long tunic like Ryckna bur his has two white stripes instead of three, he has such a common face.
Before I can say something Ryckna spoke for me.
[Do you have an issue with my guest, Bors?]
She stands in between us smiling at Bors, that alone make him flinch, I have thought since the gate but maybe she has a big reputation and prestige, I mean even being a scholar would not guarantee that you can pass the gates of a big city like this without being checked and with a possible monster.

[Let it be, Bors, we need to get ready for our next quest.] Said the plain man.
[Tch, let’s go, Mirna, John.] The only thing Bors said before continuing their path to the gates.
[Now, let’s find an Inn to rest, and have a small talk.]
{A talk? Aren’t we going to the scholar guild?}
Before going to the scholar guild, Ryckna suggested to spend some time in an Inn, so I can prepare myself for the apprentice test. It seems that they apply the test once each six months and the next is in two days, I have spent almost 48 hours studying nonstop and hearing Ryckna lessons.
The Inn is standard, as the ones you see in fantasy games, run by a male goblin.
Goblins in this world are mostly like green humans, but dwarf sized they also have pointy ears and slightly bigger noses.
He gave us a small room with two beds and a table in the middle.
[Should we eat something?]
[Yes!]
I could not hold my excitement while answering; the most that I have been eating is raw meat so I wanted to try a proper meal from a time.
The dining room was empty, so our orders we taken instantly, Ryckna ordered the house special and recommended it to me so I took it too.
After a short time a goblin girl bring our meal, she looks so young but she is already working, kids in this world help their families with everything they can.
When I looked at the meal it was, just meat and potatoes, I tried to keep my smile for respect especially since the goblin girl is looking with such a bright smile, but meat and potatoes, back in Earth I eat that once every week and I was hoping for more.
{Well at least the seasoning may be different.}
I took a bite, the meat is sweet and well cooked, but there is something that made me nauseous, it was the potatoes, the same flavor that I was used now is making me sick.
I couldn’t hold it, so I spit it all over Ryckna, who was sitting in front of me.

[Miss, did you didn’t like it?] The girl ask me almost with tears in her eyes.
[It’s not like that.] I responded. [My species cannot eat any kind of fruit, vegetable or plant based food.]
[I see. I need to write that.]
After dinner, we heard to our room to rest.
{It’s been long since I slept on a bed.}
The bed is so comfortable I might fall sleep instantly, which is what I thought but as hour’s passer, I could not sleep.
{It’s more relaxing and comfortable under the flowerbed.}
After a couple of hours, I managed to fall sleep.
The next morning Ryckna awake me.
[You sure sleep a lot. Here eat some bread.]
Bread isn’t that made of wheat, it might be the same as potatoes. I took a small bit and surprisingly it taste good.
[How is it that it taste good?]
[I have a hypothesis that you might be able to eat processed food made of plants, as spices used for seasoning.]
{I am just glad I can eat something more than just meat.}
[So shall we start with your studies?]
As she said that, she had a very intimidating look in her face.
{I have a bad feeling for this.}
[The test, consist in three parts math, history and magic.]
{At last, I will learn how to use magic.}
[First, let us start with history.]
For starters, this world name is Zetcera, and we are in the Krover continent. Straida is known as the Union City because it is located in the heart of the continent, which is how they call the place where the routes that join the four most powerful empires collide.
These empires are: Loroi in the East ruled by Lumeria Stratos du Loroi, Vyena in the North ruled by Dant III Vyena, Psion in the West ruled by Ivana Blitzchter and Ozse in the South ruled by Cyros Ozsenov.
All trade routes go through here because the lands in between the empires are too dangerous; they mostly have lots of monsters nests or a hard environment, like volcanos and complicated mountain pass. Is not as if they could not secure a route in fact they have some, but is easier and safer to go through Straida.
There are also some smaller kingdoms in those areas that aren’t affiliated to an empire, but are registered in the three guilds, Scholar, Trade and Adventurers, they are also the only ones that can hire adventurers to do jobs know as quest.
The empires have an immense well trainer army, so smaller kingdoms find protection from adventurers, which is why they advertise adventurers as a high quality job that will bring you fame and fortune.
[Ryckna, how much do witches interact with the humans?]
[Mmm, they do a lot.]
According to Ryckna. Witches provide the recipes for medicine, sell enchanted equipment and potions, and even, but can also be dangerous when some of they are conducting research that involves virus, plagues and medicine itself.
[So they do human experimentation to get better results.]
Ryckna just nodded silently with a sad look in her eyes, had better not bring the topic too much I could reopen an old wound.
[Have you met a Witch Orchid?]
[Yes, she gave me the hunting spear.]
[I was wondering why you had that, is it a magic spear or something?]
[No as far as I know.]
The hunting spear why Alice gave it to me, maybe as a reminder of our contract.
‘She could not remember the town and people that she met before Ryckna.’
[Tomorrow we start magic training, so be ready Orchid I won’t be easy on you.]
[Yes!]
Magic at last I am ready for it since I was told I would reincarnate in another world.
