《In the world of Masks and Capes》Freedom and Suspicion

He had fucked up.
Literally.
Fucked up.
On the sleeping trip he had been, transferred into another world, and it took him almost half an hour to realize that this whole thing he was doing is real.
No fakes, no illusions, no guilt pleasures in taking a nosedive in trying to sabotage a proud Guild in YGGDRASIL like the Seraphim just for the fun of it, no lies and deception he had noticed around him.
It was all REAL.
And by that, he had made the worst decision possible ever.
By making himself known.
Oh, he wouldn't mind killing others for the fun of it, but with the words of the former clan master literally printed into his own mind, he made a foolish and clumsy mistake.
And by that, he had to act what his leader had done.
Improvise.
"GGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" He screamed out from his lungs like a drunken idiot who just won a lucky bet. So loud that he could literally be heard from several miles away.
Although it was also so loud that the people within the vicinity covered their ears in desperation and in pain.
'Ok great, now how the fuck do I access my inventory!? SPACE BAG, OPEN!' Inwardly panicking while noticing that the people in front of him are trying to regain themselves.
Although barely.
He would have thought that none of them had expected a sonic attack, but he was too busy trying to access his inventory to heal the man on his feet.
'Damn damn damn damn damn damn, DAMN IT!' He gritted his teeth in all frustration and anger to himself as he tried to stop the bleeding of the man's arm.
'Wait, wait a fucking second.' Taking a closer look at the person's face. He seems... young.
'OH SHIT DID I JUST ALMOST KILLED A KID!?' Panic 100%. 'Oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit. Come mon come mon come mon! LET ME ACCESS MY INVENTORY!'
By pure accident, he saw his hand disappear into a void. A normal person would have screamed in fear and pure terror by how that small rift of a void looks like.
For him, however, it felt nothing. He moved his hand and felt something, wrapping his hand in what felt like a bottle, he removed his hand from the void and he was true to his guess.
It is a bottle!
More like a flask filled with red liquid, but it's a [Low Health Potion]!.
"Whatever makes you be back alive now!" He mumbled as he was about to force drink the potion into the teen's mouth, a long stretch of water hit him in the arm, as if it was targeted to stop him from giving him the DAMN POTION! It didn't harm him, but it was enough to make him pause.
Turning to who of the teens had used water against him. If he had thought properly, he didn't feel wet at all.
"Don't you dare touch our friend!" So it was that dark teen huh.
Seeing that the others are beginning to stand up, having them trying to stop him from freaking healing their FRIEND HERE WHO IS DYING!
The masked kid with a red suit threw some kind of boomerangs at him. He was beginning to question why and how the fuck would that even do? But he was wrong until the projectiles emitted some kind of smoke as cover.
"Hmph! {Shield of Gaia}!" A golden dome surrounded him, including the unconscious bleeding kid. It is a barrier that can protect attacks reaching up until 8th Tier, anything above that won't stop by a bit.
By that, he wouldn't bother to pay attention to their tantrums since none of their attacks would penetrate his shield unless they got magic or anything above 8th Tier. Fortunately, none of them have it. Not questioning how he managed to cast the spell, he began to open the lid of the potion and gently poured the contents into the boy's mouth.
Seeing the boy suddenly glowed and the arm was now restored back. He would have puked from the process on the arm's restoration, but somehow he didn't feel anything. Other than the small guilt on almost killing the boy, nothing else. He felt nothing.
Muttering a small sigh of relief knowing the boy is safe now from the verge of death a while ago, he has to find a way to escape from these kids.
Reading how the situations go in Isekai novels he pirated online, people would obviously go for anything that is close to the original material, for the original is rare as fresh, cheap meat in the market.
He picked the boy up, surprisingly he weighed almost nothing to him. If much, he only felt like a sack filled with clothes. Putting him on his shoulder, before pausing.
"Wait, did I just cast a spell...?" He muttered before blinking the shock away. "What the fuck...?"
His mind is more... clearer? Even though he needed to look up his spell and skill list to remember from time to time, he literally remembered every spell and skill to his class and other utilization uses.
"This is some X-Files bullshit..." He mumbled before turning to see a boy in a grey tight suit just bounced backward. It seemed that the boy just tried to punch his way only to be reflected by the damage of himself. Twas due to the cause of the {Shield of Gaia}. A spell that protects anyone within the barrier and reflects damage although in a lesser amount than the original. However, due to the limitations of his items, the damage reflection has increased.
So the boy who punched the barrier would have felt his own punch but to a lesser degree. But seeing how the boy just lays there on the ground in pain, it seemed to have worked... A bit? Eh, it still worked.
With the smoke now dissipating, he could see the other children trying to punch through the barrier, even how useless their efforts were.
The dark teen using water tentacles, the caped boy trying to find other ways through his barrier while attacking, and wait, is that an elf? No wait, she doesn't have long ears.
With a quick {Discern Being}, she was... A Martian? The hell? So aliens exist in this world? And the one with dual water blades is an Atlantean? So Naga? No, doesn't look the part. And the other two are just humans?
He would have been shocked to the core on this one, but weirdly he felt numbly surprised. He would feel uncomfortable by the thought, not feeling... Human enough.
Then for some reason, his mind made him remember the nostalgia of getting ganked by a large group of low leveled Players, around level 70 and lower he considered them as "low Lvl", he chuckled in nostalgia.
'Up until those bastards arrived to help my ass.' He made a small grin before wiping the smile off his face.
He inhaled before releasing his breath.
"Your friend here is alive, I propose a temporary setback of negotiations!" He shouted, getting the attention of this boy's friends, or at least comrades.
"You just decapitated his arm!"
"Decapitate? Oh goodness me, I believe I had barely even harmed your little boy here." He raised the teen, tugging him by the neck of his shirt like a kitten being picked up. Apparently his shirt is strong enough to even stay whole after that punch aftershock of his.
"W-Wait, what!?" No doubt shocked by what they saw. They DID witness that their friend's arm was gone and blood was spurting out a moment ago and right now it's entirely there unharmed!
"But his arm was gone!" Miss Martian shrieked in confusion. She is both concerned for her comrade's health, and for the unknown enemy that has their hands on Superboy.
'Guys,' Hearing Robin's voice in their mental link. 'I've activated a distress call to the Justice League, backup will be here soon. We just need to stall him then.'
'Then we need to make sure we get Superboy back.' The Atlantean gripped his daggers ever tightly.
'We need to do something about that barrier then.'
'I-Its like a forcefield!' Wally shouted in pain as he tried to stand up, but limping ever slightly. 'But it attacks you instead! It's like it reflects damage!'
'Megan, can you get into his thoughts?'
'I-I can't! Something's blocking his mind!'
'Maybe it's an android?' Wally gave out his 2 cents.
'Kinda weird for a robot to be made of stone!' Robin retorted.
'Everyone, stay calm. Like what Robin said; we need to stall time for the Justice League to arrive. Until then, we need to rescue Superboy.' With hearing the sounds of confirmation from the others, the stone armor spoke again.
'We just need to find something to penetrate through that barrier!'
"Oho? Why the silence?" Jason mocked intentionally. "Not gonna ask for your friend here?"
"Give him to us!" Miss Martian, overwhelmed by her emotions on seeing her teammate on the hands of the enemy, floated the debris around in the air, ready to throw them towards the stone armor.
"Ha! Won't work, although... I will say this again, I propose a temporary setback of negotiations!" He repeated. "What if you aren't talking to each other secretly now?" He guessed.
Miss Martian and Wally tensed up at how he found that out correctly, Aqualad and Robin were the only ones who simply stayed calm and readied their weapons as they continued to plan within their link.
'No worries since I'm immune to that. They are smart on not rushing in blindly, they tested my defenses, so no luck for them on that one heh.' He smirked. 'Although... Are they stalling for time?' He narrowed at the thought.
It was a usual tactic in the Guild wars, a small party would hold out and tank everything from the enemy until backup arrives with heavy ordinance to curbstomp the fuck out of the opposition.
And if so, he needs to find a way to escape from this group of children. Although he would wonder why would they fight if they don't kill? Kind of a weird set of thinking.
"...What is your proposal?" The dark teen said, no doubt leading the group.
"I'll let go of this comrade of yours unless you let me go." Motioning to the unconscious boy he has within his grip.
"We can't let you get away with this!" The redheaded boy in black tights shouted.
"Boy, I have your comrade in my hand and I can determine whether he fucking lives or dies. And stalling time would only mean your comrades death as to whoever you are waiting for, they wouldn't come in time to save this kid."
He wouldn't kill someone who is literally younger than him! I mean sure he doesn't like kids and they annoy him like a frigging squeaker as he watched those prank videos in the 21st century who think they are hotshots, but no they are not.
He has come in the worst time so obviously he is in the wrong. But that doesn't mean he would admit it!
"So I suggest you drop your weapons, put your hands up, and I'll toss your friend to you. Once I have done my part, I'll be on my way." He growled.
The teens are clearly distressed and are conflicted about the idea of letting someone dangerous go, but they prioritized saving their friend much more.
"...Fine." Robin said reluctantly as he told the others to lower stand down, with Aqualad also calmly yet concerned in telling the others to follow. "Let him go now!"
"..." With that, he dismissed the spell and tossed the boy towards the group, whom the group caught him. Although it was more like the green alien who caught him with her powers... Or was it telekinesis?
"Za wurdo, {Time Stop}!" And almost immediately, he felt everything just suddenly halt.
"...Huh, so this is what when time is stopped like..." He muttered. The experience was... New. From the anime, they make it look like there'd be sounds of time stopping immediately like that old anime with a stone mask and sexy bodybuilders do with a zooming sound-like thingy with the color-changing into grey indicating that time has stopped.
But in reality, it was a sudden stop of everything. No sounds, no movement, no greyscale in change, nothing.
Compared in the game, the ones within the area to an extent would be frozen in time. Though it's just another way of being {Paralyze} but only chrono-based spells.
Shaking his head, getting back in the game he has to leave this place. From how it looks like, the whole place is a jungle. And with literally near-perfect enhanced senses, he heard no civilization around. Was he on an island?
He activated his wings and flew upwards, confirming that he was on an island. Though it felt weird that he knew how to fly even though he never did in his entire life!
"Let's see... Never. Eat. Sea. Weed." Pointing at four different directions and not knowing where North or South is at, so he picked where he pointed at. Towards West. "Alright, this way."
Dismissing the spell, he flew towards the West afterwards.
It took him a moment to realize that this is... real. Everything is real. The sky is so clear, the ocean so blue, he could see the moon and the stars! There was no smoke, no pollution, and most of all, the breezing air he could feel despite the armor, he could feel the cold breeze and the resistance of air drag.
"Ha... Haha... Hahahaha... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA-!" He chuckled, slowly turning into a full blown crazed maniacal laughter.
"BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Batman and the others arrived almost a minute later after Jason left the island in the opposite direction on where the JL members had arrived.
He was rather checking on the logs and the situation around Earth from the Watchtower, then suddenly he received a distress call from Robin. He knew Robin wouldn't accidentally turn on his distress call, he rarely calls it in.
And when he calls it in, it means they were in a dangerous situation.
When they arrived, he found the team to be rather in... extremely distressed.
He had noticed the people unconscious on the ground were Kobra cultists, considering their attire. But he had noticed one of them was missing a head on their shoulders.
He suspected it was the clone of Superman that had gone rogue or accidentally killed a criminal. But his thoughts were conflicted to find the said clone to be cradled and cared for by Martian Manhunter's niece.
Deciding to confirm his thoughts, he had asked the team what had happened here.
They were no doubt distressed, but they seemed to be in shock as they explained that all was well, up until an unknown person or being appeared.
Robin informed them to tell it was some kind of rock person. It wore armor that seemed to be made of stone, yet the design was intricate and almost futuristic. He thinks that there was someone wearing under the rock armor, or a robot since Megan couldn't get a read on the stone person.
So it was either there was some kind of material that protects from telepathic attacks, or it was indeed a robot with stone exterior stone texture. But he wouldn't be foolish to think of other possibilities.
The team reported that they had attacked the Stone Armor yet there was simply no scratch done onto its armor. He was also shocked to not only hear Superboy also not able to damage the armor, but the being was able to wound him.
Robin reported that there were no signs of Kryptonite being used against the Kryptonian clone, which disturbs the other members of the Justice League.
The team had described it as "Brutal" in a way. It was able to conjure some kind of force field that repels any attacks and returns damage back from its source.
Such technology couldn't be seen in this world. He would theorize that this Stone Armor is from the future, but who would make their armor as stone? He wouldn't ask that question as the team reported, there was no damage done to the being at all.
"Wait, did you say that this Rock person destroyed Superboy's arm!?" The Flash said, surprised at the thought.
"Yeah, all it did was throw one punch against Superboy, and then suddenly it was just gone..."
Though this report seems to conflict with what they are currently seeing. Superboy's arm is there, it was not just only a stump as they described.
"We… We do not know actually." Aqualad answered. "When Robin threw smoke as a distraction and cover for Wally, once the smoke was cleared, Superboy's arm was… back."
Batman could hear the confusion from the Atlantean's words.
"What do you mean his arm 'is just back'?"
"That's exactly what we meant!" Robin exclaimed. "His arm was just back!"
"Are you sure what you're seeing-?"
"No, they are speaking the truth." Martian Manhunter said "This "Stone Armor" is something that can rival against Superman."
"And, it was also looking for something," Aqualad said, gaining the attention and curiosity of the JL members.
"Yeah, it said that it was looking for a "[World Portal]" or some kind." M'gann finished.
"...Do any of you guys know about that?" The Flash asked around the group, their response being 'no'.
"Whatever it is, we need to be on a lookout for this portal as you say." Aquaman said, gaining nods from the others. "We might be able to see where this 'Stone Armor' is heading."
"...Then the rest of you," He turned towards the teen Heroes. "you will be refrained from doing any missions for a week." Batman said firmly.
"What!?"
"Aw come mon!"
Batman glared, making the teens flinch, especially Robin. "A week… Until I say so."
And there were only grumbles after that.
It wasn't long before he managed to reach the shore of a desert. It was cleaner and more fresh? It was a lot better than that barren wasteland, that he can say.
He doesn't know where he is at, nor if he got transported into a world that he knows about. Hopefully, on the latter!
And right now, he just wanted to lay down on this soft sand, gaze upon the night sky above him while the waves crashing onto the sandy shores behind him, and hopefully have fate put him that he is actually in another world and not in a dream.
If it is a dream, he'd go fucking mental.
There is absolutely nothing for him to do. Other than worrying about going up early and finishing his damn presentation and showing it to the meeting that was planned a month ago about technicality issues about the system of the company they were- ok you know what? He has none of that.
He is here, in this different world, planet, or whatever the fuck he is right now, in his game avatar. He is legibly fucking GOD of defense. Pity that he hasn't gotten [World Guardian] and he'd be bragging that crap on to that bird-brain pervert's sister from one of Ainz Ooal Gown.
So he has nothing to do with that fucking company. Anymore.
He is in a new world, meaning there are things to explore! Things to gaze upon when near death! Things to fight against! Things to search for treasure! Things to-!
Wait… Wait, hold up a minute…
New world… Old world…
New world = new food and drinks to try out. Old world = TASTES NOTHING AND KILLS YOUR LIFE!
"TIME TO FIND SOME FOOD!"
New world, new things to enjoy.
Just as long he wouldn't get in any trouble, he wouldn't mind eating his way to just enjoy his life without letting it go to waste.
|Dimension Jumper's Plane|, |The Hub|
"He is in the universe, sir."
"Good," Gman hummed. "Perhaps that old man wouldn't have any problems having him there."
"Sir, if I may, is it really a good move? He is one of Them, and I quote your words; "that we don't want to mess with"."
"He may be greater than me, Mira. He is but a rival brother of HIM. Plus if our little boy goes out of control that would make a mess in his universe, then we can detain him before shit gets out of hand."
The ghoul ranger sighed. "Why do I work for you sir?"
"Because you owe me for resurrecting you and your wish for having a normal life?" He said simply.
"True…" She muttered. He had a point, one of her wishes before the months of getting killed was having a normal life. No dangers lurking around the corner and no need to hunt down bounties for a living.
She doesn't mind having a desk job, she is quite good at her job before the bombs fell.
"One thing sir before I leave. What is it about these certain individuals that interest you?"
"Many, many reasons." He replied. "But some which would require ridiculous amounts of explanation, while some don't need much. Although one of the reasons is that despite their antics, they do the job well."
"And not our top Jumpers?" She raised a brow if she would have skin on her face.
"Think of the 'Hateful Eight' as mercenaries, contract takers for the job. The jumpers are simply employees that I need to take care of. What is mine, I take care of."
"Sound a bit hypocritical, sir."
"And this is why I like you having around here, Mira."

Comment by the author: Looking at the chapter list, you might have noticed Volume 1 is not there. The reason is that it’s in the process of being published so I’m somewhat restricted in where and how I can post it. Edit. 18/04/2017 The first volume is now officially on sale. It is no longer possible to get the first volume for free. I am sorry but it was free for a long time and it was time for it. However if you like to support me you can find th first volume here on Amazon (getBook.at/TheEverlasting) Compared to other stories on Royal Road this one is faster paced. No artificial extensions of the story by spending forever in generic constructs, like random ranking tournaments, that don’t really matter for the overall plot. That’s the plan anyway. Volumes consist roughly of 30-35k words. Additionally: I am not a native speaker, nor have I had any formal education in the English language. I am trying very hard to improve myself. If you want to help me by proofreading my story, shoot me a PM and we’ll see if we can arrange something. Other than my thanks and fake internet points I can’t offer anything, though. Yeah, poor student here… Edit 22/06/2017 Hey the story is officially ended if i ever decide to continue it will be on another date. The ending is open for anyone to use their imagination. Thank you all for the support. I hope we could meet later in the Everlasting II. Respectfully Biako
