《MYTHICAL DESCENDANT: Married to Mr. Fox》Chapter 11: CONFLICT

Jayden was stunned, looking at Ember, as he felt his heart pounding and his whole body sweating. Before this, he liked Amayah, but he never felt the way he felt towards Ember.
He also forgot that his hand was held by Amayah, and at the same time, Aubrey's beauty also fascinated Xander. He felt his heartbeat beating fast. What is this feeling? What's wrong with my heart? It's not hurting, but it's beating fast and it feels good. He touched his chest with confusion in his mind.
Camilla was happy to see they had arrived. Camilla greeted them with a smile on her face.
"Oh Ember, Aubrey, I'm glad to see you coming."
"Beautiful Madam, sorry we're late." Aubrey bowed to her politely.
"It's okay, the party has just begun."
Ember paused, and her eyes stared at Jayden's hand, held by Amayah. Yesterday and today she saw the same scene. Seriously, are they testing my patience? Should I slap them on the face? What's wrong with this woman? Does she have no pride? Why is clingy with someone's husband? Maybe they were close, but he's married, and I'm here as his wife, but they ignore me.
Ember looked at Jayden's face. They look at each other. At the moment, Jayden did not realise that his hand was being held by Amayah. Because, in his eyes, only Ember. Aubrey saw Jayden's hand being held tightly by Amayah, and she asked.
"Madam, who is this woman? Is she your daughter? They both look quite close."
Jayden looked at his hand, which was being held by Amayah, and he quickly pulled his hand away and looked at Ember, but Ember looked the other way.
He felt like he had fallen down the stairs. Oh, why am I so stupid? Why I'm not aware, if it's like this, how can I reconcile with her if it turns out to be like this? Jayden felt like his soul had just left his body.
"T-They're old acquaintances." Camilla replied with a look that wanted to hide something.
"No! I'm Jayden's favourite woman. Right, Jayden?" Amayah stated proudly as she looked at Jayden.
They all fell silent, looking at Amayah, and then Camilla, Aubrey, and Xander looked at Ember, and Ember looked at Jayden. Ember hopes that Jayden denies it, but Jayden just keeps quiet, and that makes Ember even angrier. Actually, he didn't hear anything of what they were talking about, because he still felt his soul had left his body.
"Oh, I see." Ember replied with a face that had no reaction. They were all surprised by Ember's answer. Ember looked at Camilla and said, "Mom, I'm hungry."
"Ooh, so pity my daughter-in-law. Let's go eat." Camilla held Ember's hand and walked towards the food being served.

Jayden just came back to his senses and saw that Ember and Camilla had already left towards the food. He sighed, because he hadn't had the chance to reconcile with Ember.
Aubrey was still standing with them, and Aubrey's face turned serious as she came towards Amayah.
"I don't know what your relationship was before, but if Ember was hurt, I'll make sure you regret it. I hope your past relationship ends here. I know you deliberately wanted to hurt Ember. But don't be too proud. You could be considered to be cheating on someone's husband, and I can make sure you're sued. At least you should have pride in yourself, don't you agree? Don't disturb a married man; you look pathetic."
Amayah remained silent, listening to Aubrey's words, and she clenched her fists, holding back her anger. She felt humiliated by Aubrey's words to her. Aubrey walked away from them, and Jayden and Xander looked at each other. They were surprised to see Aubrey. Xander is amazed by Aubrey's words; he thinks she's a woman with dignity.
At the party, Zane also attended. He was there. He came to see Ember with a dissatisfied expression. He spoke in a loud voice, "Ember!!"
All those present at the party looked at them. Ember turned to look, and she was shocked to see Zane. His expression was burning with anger.
"Z-Zane?"
"How dare you secretly get married! That's why you left me?"
Zane spoke with a dissatisfied expression. Hearing Zane's words, Jayden was shocked. Amayah smirks, seeing the scene. She was happy to see Ember in trouble.
"What do you mean?" Ember asked, because she was confused by Zane's question.
"Don't pretend you don't know! We've been together for 5 years, but you left me and got married to another man. Who is the bastard you married? Huh!" Zane yelled angrily.
Jayden clenches his fists. Did she leave her boyfriend to marry me? What is this I don't understand? Jayden really wants to know the truth.
Ember just kept quiet. She felt her heart hurt twice. What nonsense is this man spouting? Did he want to twist the truth? Did he want to say that I'm the one who's wrong?
Zane held Ember's shoulder and said, "Ember! Why didn't you answer my question? Answer my question!"
Aubrey hears people around her, starts talking badly to Ember, and that makes her lose her temper. She came towards Zane and a slap landed on Zane's cheek. Everyone in the party hall was shocked, including Ember.
"Useless guy!! You are the one who cheated on Ember. You want to blame her. You're making love with another woman in front of Ember's eyes. Now you want to blame her. Cheating, man, it's totally useless!! You better die!"

Aubrey raised her voice. She couldn't control her anger anymore.
When Jayden heard Aubrey's words, Jayden's guilt towards Ember grew. He felt as if he had cheated on her. He feels he's not worthy of her.
Ember's tears flowed at that moment, as she felt her life was being cheated on. She thought her ex-boyfriend cheated, and now her husband also has another woman. Ember feels very upset. Ember's tears made Jayden's heartbeat fast with anger.
I'm not wrong. I'm not cheating on her. I've never cheated on her. I must protect her as her husband. I can't let her cry. It's fine if we don't love each other, but I will still protect her.
The sound of footsteps was heard walking towards them. Jayden stood between them. Jayden took Ember's hand in his. She was shocked when Jayden came to her. She's staring at him with confusion. Jayden wiped her tears and then he looked at Zane.
"The bastard you mentioned earlier is me. I am the one who married her, and I am her husband. You don't dare come near my wife anymore. Do you understand?"
Hearing Jayden's words, Ember's heart pounded. Zane is speechless after Jayden confronts him. His face also turned pale because he was in shock. All the people who were there fell silent after Jayden spoke up.
Jayden pulled Ember's hand and walked toward the exit. Camilla smiled happily at the situation. Because she felt the situation could make Jayden and Ember become close to each other.
Aubrey, who was still standing there, seemed to get ready to slap Zane again, but Xander pulled her hand away.
Camilla spoke up, "Oh my, there seems to be a bit of an altercation, but it's over. We can continue the party."
Ember and Jayden were outside the party hall. Only the two of them were there. Jayden looked at Ember's cheek, which still had tears on it. He wiped away her tears and sighed. He touched both of Ember's cheeks and looked her in the eyes. She blushed and her heart pounded because her cheeks were touched by him.
"I have no relationship with Amayah and I don't have any feelings for her. She's just spouting nonsense. We had a relationship a few years ago, but just for a year. I, I have never cheated on you."
Hearing the explanation from Jayden, she felt a little relieved. Jayden is trying hard to reconcile with her. He doesn't want Ember misunderstood. But Ember still remained silent. She didn't say anything. She was tired, felt humiliated, and wanted to go back.
"I-I want to go back"
"Let's go back together."
"You don't want to attend the party?"
"No." Jayden shook his head.
"I drove to come here. I will send Aubrey back to her home first."
"No need, I'll drive your car. Xander will send her instead."
Jayden held Ember's hand while calling for Xander. Ember was a little surprised that her hand was being held by Jayden, and her face was blushing. Xander was then with Aubrey in the party hall. He received a phone call from Jayden.
"Hello, master."
"Xander, please send Aubrey back to her home. I'm returning to the mansion with Ember."
"Yes, master."
Xander came to Aubrey, who was drinking wine. He was standing staring at her and thinking. Does she really like drinking wine? Is this one of her habits? or she's alcohol addicted.
"Aubrey, I'll send you back. Jayden went home with Ember."
Aubrey looked at Xander and answered, "Okay, but let me finish my wine first." while showing the wine in her hand.
As Jayden and Ember headed to the car, Amayah chased them.
"Jayden, Wait! Jayden, where do you want to go? You didn't attend the party?"
Jayden stopped and turned to face her.
"No, I want to go home with my wife. My wife wants to rest."
And then he continued walking towards Ember's car.
Amayah looked at their hands. They were holding hands. She felt jealous and angry. Jayden opens the door for Ember, and they get into the car, ignoring Amayah. Jayden drove the car and left the place.
Amayah looked at them angrily and said, "Jayden, you will be mine! You will be mine!"
At the party, Aubrey wanted to add another glass of wine, but Xander stopped her.
"Stop."
Aubrey frowned at him and asked, "Why?"
"What if you're drunk?"
"Hahaha, don't worry, I've never been drunk." Aubrey said proudly.
"Oh, really?" Xander smirked, "Before this, I saw someone wanting to go home but head to the bush."
"Really, oh my god, that person is so funny. Who is that person?"
Xander brought his face close to Aubrey's ear and said, "It's you."
Aubrey was shocked after she heard Xander's answer.
"Me?" Aubrey said, with a disbelieving face.
"Yes, it's you."
Xander takes the glass of wine in Aubrey's hand and puts it on the table.
"Let's go back."
Xander insisted, with his serious expression. Seeing Xander's expression, she didn't dare disobey him, and she walked, following Xander behind.

Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
