《Bone Sage》Chapter 4: The Guild

Melton and Mathias were on way to the mercenary guild and while they were walking Mathias started explaining to Melton.
"You see .Mercenary guild is a neutral organization established by an agreement from countries across the whole world. You can sign in and to get license and get jobs assigned by everyone from common folks to the royalty itself. Both the mercenaries and the requests are ranked by their difficulty and for the sake of making it universally understandable this is how they decided their ranking."
"Once you register you will be appointed as F-rank .That is the beginning step for every person who seeks adventure. When you are F-rank you are not really considered an adventurer even by the guild so it's more like being a part of it but you are mercenary in training."
"Upon seeing you are capable they will quickly promote you to E-rank where you are finally officially acknowledged and considered a rookie"
"But why isn't there a test where they can see who is capable." Melton asked
"Cus in worst case we got some cannon fodders" Mathias replied as if it was a natural thing
"Anyway let me continue. When you are E rank you have variety of quests and things to do. From common errands like cleaning a house to the subjugation of monsters. Newbies usually stay in D rank 2 or 3 years at most depending on how much they suck. Mathias said as he gigged a bit on the last bit
"Once you got some some experience and completed missions on your name you go up to the D class. At that point people usually start specialize in a certain type of jobs. Although it is not a official change in registration people usually divide into few classes like scouts, subjugators and escorts."

"Reaching B rank means you quite good at what you do. Most of the upper classes consider of subjugators since those jobs give you more danger but are also better for showing up"
"After becoming experienced or skip few steps with talent you reach A rank. Most of people in A and S rank are just a bunch of strong weirdos. It's either a self righteous "Hero of Justice" type of dude with a bunch of women around him , a "wise old dude" who constantly peeps women or some random guy eating rocks as a hobby. For your information rockeaters are the best ones you can find . S rank is same as A rank just a bit more extreme and hard to achieve. It's like a privilege equal to being a noble."
"Annnd that's it. Simple ,right?"
Meltons head started to hurt a little from all the things Mathias happily talked about but he understood the most of it. After walking for 5 more minutes they arrived in front of a 2 story building with a sign "Mercenary Guild". The got close to the doors that looked like the ones you see in a bar from a wild west movie. Melton was about to enter but before he could Mathias rushed first and bashed the doors with his hand screaming happily "G'day the noble people of the guild".
Everyone in the guild turned towards the two of them but soon continued their work. The buildings interior was quite nice and simple. There was ten receptionists behind a set of separated desks similar to the one at post office , a board with a bunch of missions and a bunch of tables filled with mercenaries from various races and nations happily drinking and discussing. The second floor was where the meetings with important guests and adventures were held regarding important and dangerous missions along with guildmasters office.

Mathias started approaching 6th receptionist and Melton was quietly following him while observing. Behind the reception was a young girl with light brown hair tied up in a ponytail.
The Receptionist (clearly annoyed) :"Not you again"
"Oh hiiiii Daisyyyy. How have you been?" Mathias said with a big smile on his face
"Great until you arrived" she replied without waiting a single second
"Jeez. You will never make it big with that attitude. Anyway I would like to request a meeting with Hector."
"I am pretty sure he does not want to meet you"
"This time I got serious stuff ya'know. Can you call him already"
"Ugh. Fine. You two can go in a meeting room." She said and angrily went on the second floor.
She went left to the office while Melton and Mathias went right. There was a medium sized room with 2 couches and a table. The room was decorated pretty good and Mathias seemed like he went there quite a lot of times. The sat on the couch that was further from the doors and was tapping on it.
"Come on. Sit already"
"Ok " Melton said and sat next to him
After a few minutes A large man bald man with a scar going from forehead to the back of his head and sat down on other couch.
"So. What do you want this time." The man said. Melton quickly realized he was the guildmaster.
"You see. I got a new pal here and I would like to register him along with a few extra thing. Shall we discuss it in private."
The guildmaster turned towards Melton and said politely "May you please wait outside a couple of minutes"
Melton got up and waited outside along with Daisy. Since Melton was bored he decided to ask Daisy a few questions. Daisy seemed like a nice person when she was not arguing with Mathias so she started answering his questions. Melton learned that Hector ,the guildmaster, was an A rank mercenary who got injured in one of large operations but he managed to recover leaving only his scar. After experiencing a situation where his life was so close to end he became much more mature and started working as a guild staff member instead. Because of his cooperation and commanding skills he quickly rose to the position of guildmaster after the old one retired and held the title for more than ten years.
While they were chatting both Mathias and Hector returned from the room. Hector gave Melton some kind of card and Mathias leaped to hug him.
"Congrats pal. Now you are officially B rank mercenary"
Daisy was outraged from what she heard and immediately started yelling at Hector
"HOW CAN YOU PROMOTE SOMEONE TO B RANK WHEN THEY JUST STARTED"
Hector started calming her down and said "Since Mathias is one of strongest A rank mercenaries and is connected to church of Bytos I had no choice"
Daisy angrily went back to her workplace while Hector headed to his office to do some paperwork. Melton than headed with Mathias back to the 1st floor and went searching for a quest. The quest Mathias decided they will go with is subjugation of a monster named Bear Warrior ,a bear with 6 arms and a very tough skin. They got their request approved by Daisy who was clearly pissed and so their first fight expedition began.

The Chronicles of The Green wizard
Garion Greensleeves always was an oddity. The first son of High-Wizard Garius Greensleeves and Adricor, a Noble woman of well renown, he would of stood to inherit much. However, on the night of his first full moon, as a baby he disappeared from his cot. His parents, after much frantic searching, found the babe crying in a small clearing of trees, a large feline creature pacing defensively around him, the bloodied corpse of a fox resting at its feet. As the parents approached, the beast transformed into a small owl and flew around the clearing before perching on a low branch of a tree nearby. From this moment on Garion's fate had been decided. Only those with magical blood could be capable of calling out to such a being as this. As Garion grew older, the transforming creature remained by his side. Wizards from all the continents visited the glade to see the child who had bound a familiar to his will as a babe. At age seven, Garion left his home glade and travelled the world studying to become a recognised guilded wizard. After many years he was granted the title of Wizard and was sent forth to advise, learn and ponder on behalf of the guild. After a while, Garion was assigned to a small nation within the vast continent mainly populated by man-folk known as The Patchwork kingdoms.
