“Lilith! You better get out here!” Shouted a bear of a man from the street below, which was promptly followed by three successive knocks which shook the building.
“One second!” Retorted Lilith as she double-checked her throwing needles bracelet. Patting her boots, she reaffirmed the fact that her knives were still there. Lastly, checking her cloak, making sure it was as unrecognizable as possible.
“Still forest green.”
“Are-are, are you going?”
“Yes, yes, Mantis, I’m going. Don’t worry, though, I told Miss Potts to keep the racket down. I even told her what to do if you have another episode while I’m out. Okay?” Lilith answered, throwing the cloak around her shoulders. Before dashing into the kitchen to grab a quick bite to eat.
“But I don’t like Miss Potts, she smells like cats.” Mantis responded, tapping on the table twice, before knocking on it, then tapping twice once again. His eyes down cast at his full bowl of potato soup.
“Well too bad, you're going to be my big strong brother who can stand up to the amazing Miss Potts and her stinky cats!” Lilith jovially talked between bites of soup. Getting a smile from Mantis, reaching a hand across the table, she stopped Mantis’s tapping.
“Hey, look at me, this game is already helping you and if I have to spend most of my time out there to keep you in here. Then that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make for you.” Lilith smiled, looking into her brother's glazed eyes.
“But they hurt you, and pain is bad.”
“I know, but I do it for you.”
“LILITH, GET OUT HERE!” Feeling butterflies turn in her stomach, she ran around the table giving her brother a hug, before dashing out the door. Taking the stairs two steps at a time, she made it out the door before her boss pounded the building again.

“What is it, Carver, I thought I got the day off?” Lilith responded coldly, trying and failing to stare down the giant man. Already feeling goosebumps run down along her arms.
“Yes, I am well aware that you asked for the day off. But as your guild leader and landlord, I am in need of someone with your specific thievery skills.” Carver uttered conspiratorially, leading against the building he punched not too long ago. With the building growling, it’s distasteful.
“Rumor has it that the mage’s college is going to ship out a warehouse full of artifacts tonight to help with the sudden Wolfman assault.”
“How do we know if this information is true?”
“It’s true, because I’m the one who heard it. Are we going to have a problem with that?” Carver growled, sending a shiver down Lilith’s spine.
“No, I don’t think we will.”
“Good, I already did most of the leg work. Do you know what an orb of location does?”
“Probably helps you locate missing things like; socks, treasure, your good looks, your girlfriend, missing keys and more?” Lilith smiled as Carver's face reddened, watching him squeeze his fists, before he had to visibly calm himself down.
“Close, enough.” Carver grumbled. Calming himself again before speaking.
“It can show the location of an object or person you are familiar with. Or know enough information about said object or person. So long as the thing you're looking for is within ten miles. Wait, no, you're Canadian, as you are within sixteen kilometers.”
“So you want me to steal a magic ball so that we can use it to spy on enemy guilds to get their locations? That sounds kind of lame.”
“Well, if we were going to use it for that purpose, I suppose, yes, it would be worthless to us to know every thief hideout in Ardania. This information wouldn’t allow us to steal from the most infamous people in the underworld. Too bad, we won’t be using it for that purpose.”
“Oh, what did you have in mind?”
“Well, there is this other small rumor going around.”

Today was a great day. I died. It wasn't a great day because I died. No, it was a great day and I died. One has nothing to do with the other. Enough nonsense. Let's continue with the topic we're all curious about. Why was it a great day? I achieved my dream to transform my real life into an MMORPG. Grinding skills, leveling up, collecting coins, going on an adventure, and making progress on my main quest. The dream of every gamer. And no, I'm not mad. Let me give you some context before we continue. I'll keep it short, for we have more urgent matters to discuss. Art by: Roland Deaconu

The Storytellers
Myra Kahani lives in a world of gods and prayers. People around her constantly reach out to the gods for advice and suggestions at critical times in their life. But Myra has a problem. No matter what she does, she can't talk to the gods. When Myra meets Roam, an old, enigmatic Storyteller, she finally gets some answers. She learns of the origins of the Universe, the divide between mankind and their deities, and the important role that Storytellers play in her world. But the truth for Myra is just the beginning of her story. The Storytellers is a story that I began to develop from a series of shorter stories that I wrote for a mythology and folklore class. As such, they have a strong basis in the myths and folklore of various cultures and religions. Join me as I try my best to integrate these stories into my own and develop the world of the Storytellers and Myra herself. This is my first attempt at any sort of longer-form fiction so helpful advice is greatly appreciated!

The Pharaoh's Dancer
