《The Zodians - Book 1: The Outlander》La Delpostre

"What are you talking about, Jon!"
Reind yells in the boy's face, while the rest of them are too scared to speak. They all look at him in disbelief.
“I just told her to do what needed to be done,” Jon still does not lose his temper. But this is the first time his father has yelled at him like that.
"Hargnes could die out there!", Reind is still infuriated.
“Only then will La Delpostre be awakened! She has to die before we can get to the other side of the beach,” Jon tried to explain.
"I don't care about La Del at all!" Reind says, his face red, and he yells at Jon in his loudest and loudest voice. "Hargnes won't have to do it, we'll find another way," he turns to the conflicted Hargnes.
“No!” Jon shouts too. “You can't do that! You are going to ruin everything!"
"I forbid you to say anything more!"
Jon turns to shake his mother's hand and says:
"Mom, you have to stop him."
But his mother does not listen to him. She shakes her head.
“This… I can't do anything for you either.”
He is really mad but is powerless to do anything about it, he could only watch as his father is about to ruin his future. But what can he do?
Hargnes slams the tip of her trident on the ground to get everyone's attention. Reind is forced to stop the tangled thoughts that run through his mind. Hargnes swallows a mouthful of saliva, taking a long, courageous breath. She says:
"I will do it. Reind, do not stop me.”
"Hargnes!" Reind insists.
“Reind! We are all here to die for this war. Let me do something!”
“But…”, Reind does not know what to say, his heart tightens a bit.
"Let me do it… can I?"Hargnes smiles and looks at everyone one last time, a tear suddenly falling from the corner of her eye.
Reind is silent, trying to hold back his emotions. Everyone could see that Reind's eyes are sparkling like he is about to cry. He turns his body the other way so that no one would notice, and that is also a sign that he agrees with her decision. Hargnes smiles softly. She walks over to Jon, takes his hands, and asks softly:

“Are you sure everyone will make it to the other side of the ocean?”
"You won't know," Jon replies softly, heartless.
Hargnes is a little disappointed with that answer, but confronting Lapunta is a risky affair, which soon ceases to matter to her. Hargnes makes her way slowly toward the open sea, which is clutching at the shore like a hungry dog. And the rest do not dare to witness the sight of Hargnes getting farther and farther away from the shore, and then forever disappearing behind those waves.
Hargnes tastes salty sea water, but it is extremely unpleasant. Sea water floods her mouth, ears and nose, making it impossible for her to breathe. Hargnes tries not to struggle but still clutches the Trikestion tree in his lap. She couldn't disobey Jon. The boy tells her to immerse herself in the sea, and absolutely to keep Trikestion in her lap, not letting it leave a step. She must absolutely do what he says. This is a great war, the sacrifice is absolute, if he chooses her to be the one to die, she will absolutely not do anything wrong.
Hargnes feels so suffocated that she cannot hold it any longer. Water fills her lungs. So this journey for her must be stopping now. Unfortunately, she couldn't see Lapunta's head cut off with her own eyes. That being said, hopefully the rest of them will complete that noble mission. Hargnes does not hold her lips tight anymore. She opens her mouth, bubbles coming out. She feels a heaviness in her chest and head. Oh, so this is what it feels like to be a drowning person? Not comfortable at all, if there is an afterlife, she doesn't want to drown anymore! Suddenly, a vision appears in front of her eyes. Something gives off a golden light in the cold, black water. It is so beautiful… It is coming closer, closer… so close… until she couldn't feel anything anymore. Hargnes relaxes, she is no longer breathing. The hand on the weapon releases, Trikestion follows the water away from her grasp. Hargnes floats in the water, her face when she sacrifices herself still has a satisfied smile. That illusion is still shining bright and getting closer and closer. No one knows what it is, and Hargnes no longer has the senses to know.

Suddenly, the ground beneath their feet shakes violently, and the sea level begins to rise abnormally. Reind quickly runs to where Hargnes was immersed, Victoria couldn't stop it. But the earthquake causes Reind to stop walking. He senses that the sea is deliberately pushing him back to shore. The more he tries to get away from the shore, the waves just pounce on him, pushing him back to where he started. A wave of the highest and strongest directly pushes him to the white sand. The whole continent continues to shake violently, as if it were about to fall apart. The sea breeze rumbles, the sea surface bumpy like broken boat boards. The sound of the sea howls like a writhing beast in a stormy night. They all see in the middle of the sea, a golden light rising from the depths of the water. They do not know what it is, but they are even more certain that it is a huge thing, and could carry an incalculable destructive power.
The sea shakes even more violently as the mysterious giant is about to rise from the sea. They see something on top of it, like an upright log. They also see something sharp emerging from the sea. Gradually, what they do not know appears in front of them. It is not a monster, it is not a hideous thing, it is a battleship. Before their eyes, from the bottom of the terrible black sea rises a huge warship with sails full of pride. Are they dreaming? Because this is the best thing they have ever seen. A huge ship has just awakened from the bottom of the sea. Jon calls it the legendary La Delpostre. Everyone's eyes are widened. Truly majestic! La Delpostre is moving closer to their shore. And look! One of them sees a certain figure on the mast. The sound of the sea water drifting to the sides of the boat is extremely noisy, but it shows even more how majestic it is. A boat covered in dark brown with black sails nearly ten meters high. The legendary boat has just touched the sand dunes, and they are looking up and down, admiring a giant. They instinctively step back to take a closer look at it, but it is impossible for them to have a comprehensive view
“Hargnes… she did it!” Jon gleefully looks at the legendary ship in front of him. Reind now looks at him with a guilty conscience, but he cannot open his mouth to say anything.
At this moment, suddenly from the top of the mast, a fast flying shadow jumps down to them. It is none other than Hargnes, who has been submerged in the cold, salty sea water. Surprise is probably the only word that could describe the expressions on all of them, except Jon. As if the boy knew this was going to happen. Hargnes raises Trikestion to the ground, looking at everyone excitedly. Victoria cannot believe what is happening before her eyes. She runs over and hugs Hargnes, then lets go of her and asks:
“What happened to you?”
Hargnes smiles and replies:
“I died… But this boat saved my life. Strangely, I was able to breathe again when I unconsciously lay on it. I did not know what had happened. But I think it accepted me.”
Everyone turns their eyes towards the giant ship. With this size, a thousand people could hold enough, let alone their army of just over a hundred. La Delpostre suddenly drops dozens of rope ladders on either side of the ship. The Delpostre is a ship with a soul, and no one but the holder of the Trikestion can command it. Jon immediately tells everyone:
"Alright! Let's all get on board! Lapunta must have sensed our movements by now!”

The Guide
Leon Octavian Sirus was the head scientist of the Median Empire’s department of artificial intelligence. He tried to play god by creating a world with true sentient life, though virtual. It is still a world with people that can learn, think, and feel and as always that action had consequences and one of them was his death by his own creations. Despite commiting a grevious taboo, his world was succesful enough that instead of burning in the depths of hell, which is what this sociopath deserves, he is given the chance by his own world's guide to guide a race in a young world. P.S. This awesome cover was made by the more awesome MikeWe.
