《Enigma Of The Void》Phenomenon

Zin was on his sleeping heavily, as the sun rose and many light rays starts to light up his room.
"zzz.. eh? It's morning already?"
"ZIN! Come eat your breakfast!"
Zin quickly dressed up and went out to eat with his family.
"Humph, I thought you said it was only for a few minutes. Turns out your 'few minutes' made him overslept, which he had never done before."
Hearing this Reynold was freighted, seeing how angry Erza was.
"Sorry sorry I forgot about the time when I was telling him the story. Also, it's not entirely my fault he kept asking me more questions."
Trying to make his punishment lighter, he decided to bring Zin into the problem.
"Eh? I never asked you any questions, why are you blaming me?"
Zin now wears a cute face that has a bit of tear coming from one of his eyes.
"Reynold! Shame on you for lying and blaming it on our son! Come in here right now it seems like I've been going too easy on you."
"Erza! Believe me! He really did ask me a lot of questions!"
"Humph! Children don't know how to lie. It seems like you're still trying to shift the blame huh..."
"No! Zin save your father, please! I'm definitely gonna die!"
Reynold plead Zin, as he was getting pulled into the room by Erza.
'Hahaha. Sorry Dad, Mom's too scary when she's angry'
Zin thought as he's now wearing on a sorry face.
'Welp! It's time for practice now. Where should I go head to for this?'
Zin ponders for a moment before heading to the forest.
"This should be a safe distance away from our house."
Ever since last night, Zin has had a bad feeling about his soul.
"Alright, let's see... so I have to gather mana to become an awakened. Where do I even start?"
He has come to the forest with no plan in mind at all.
'First, let me try to calm down and feel the mana in the air.'
Zin went into a meditative stance, and moments later he starts to feel the mana wavering around him.
'Wow! I can sense mana everywhere in the air!'
The excited child was now standing up staring into space with awe.
'What if I take in the mana? Since I have nothing to lose let's just do it!'
With that Zin started to bring in the mana from his surrounding into his body, more precisely his soul. After a few seconds, he started to sweat furiously, signs of pain, and terrifying mana can be sensed from Zin's body.
As he was taking in the mana, his surrounding started to show signs of movement. The trees that were still, are now swaying, while the powerful wind was blowing toward where Zin was meditating. A phenomenon was being stirred up.

Somewhere in the capital of the Human domain, seated an elder that seems to be over 70 years old with a white beard.
'Hmm? Seems like things are gonna get interesting soon...'
Suddenly the space distorted and a figure appeared in front of the elder.
"Hey, old man what's the meaning of this? Didn't you say this wasn't gonna happen for another 4 years? Why is it happening now?"
*Sigh*
"I'm in a predicament myself, but it seems like this little one's fate had been hidden by another expert."
"What?! Who's strong enough to even hide it from the Oracle of Emphia that we don't know of?! Even if there is someone strong enough for that, how haven't they been discovered?"
The man that had appeared out of nowhere was now full of questions, while the old man was still seated sipping his tea calmly.
"My guess is that someone must've put a seal on the one that triggered the phenomenon."
'Seal? Wait that means that they're not in the Human domain anymore.'
The man nodded as he realized what the old man meant.
"But a phenomenal like this was never recorded in the Book of Emphia."
The Book of Emphia has all the records and discoveries made by the awakened. Many said that this book had records of history traced back as long as 10,000 years ago. Only the Oracle of Emphia had this book, and even the royal family had to respect the oracle.
The old man is still sipping his tea while brushing his long white beard.
"There are two possible reasons... One is that this little one might be the greatest genius of all time or..."
Rumble!
Rumble!
As the old man watches the sight of the phenomenal his mood seems to lighten up. 'Hoho, this is a big catch for us. Should I go and fetch the little one as my student right now.' Even though he said that, Zin was already considered his student in the old man's mind.
"Or what? Old man, please stop leaving me hanging like this. I'm gonna die from curiosity!"
"Eh? Did I say two possible reasons? Hahaha, I meant one only. Ahh... My old age is catching up to me already."
"Stupid old man, you got me all hyped up for nothing! I swear I'll die, because of you one day!"
The space distorted again and the man that was standing there vanished in a blink of an eye. The old man was watching the sights as he brush his beard. 'This must've also caught the other's attention as well.'
'Humph. If they know what's good for them they shouldn't go near the kid.'
The old man finished his tea and got up staring in the direction of Zin. 'Tch, they already started moving. I must get there first!' Right before the old man left he muttered some words, that one would need to be next to him to hear it.

'I hope the second reason doesn't apply to you...'

The phenomenon was now reaching its peak and a huge storm that can be seen by the naked eye was brewing up. Many tree branches had long been ripped off and scattered all over the ground. The ground around Zin's was no longer, and now a huge crater can be seen with Zin seated in the middle.
'I'm almost there just a bit more, and I can feel it...'
The worldly mana had been continuously absorbed by Zin as he tries to awaken. Although the process was painful, Zin was gritting his teeth and enduring through it. Normally kids Zin's age won't be able to tolerate this amount of torture, but for some reason, Zin was able to keep going.
Before he went to training, he was just a normal child in his parent's embrace every day. In just a day he went from a normal child to someone who could trigger a phenomenon. Even in the Book of Emphia, there wasn't many phenomenon recorded, but yet Zin managed this feat.
Rumble!
Rumble!
Suddenly the ground was filled with cracks except for where Zin was sitting at. The storm was formed and animals could be seen running out of the forest. Even his parents started looking for him.
Zin burst opened his eye and stared into the space in front of him. In Zin's mind right now he was looking at an endless void, that can consume anything in its path. In the void, there were two knife-like weapons in it.
Although Zin was dumbfounded at this sight, unbeknownst to him, he had already started reaching for it. He felt like if he didn't grab the knife-like weapon now, he would regret it forever.
'Why can't I reach it? It's right in front of me!' Zin then thought of the idea of using borrow the mana in the void to push the knife-like weapon toward him. 'It worked! Just a bit more and I can get my hand on it!'
Rumble!
Rumble!
Thud!
Sounds of the storm and trees falling could be heard from everywhere in the Human domain. With a child, no less than 4 attempting to get a hold of his first aetheric weapon. By now there were many figures including the old man who was above the forest.
"Hey, Rock! You already got your hand on the fire boy with the upper-grade aetheric weapon, leave this one to me!" One of the men that seem to be in his 30s shouted out loud.
"Humph. Joak, be careful with what you're saying my student has nothing to do with the one that caused this phenomenon." Rock who is now staring down at the forest trying to find Zin.
"Tch. Don't be so greedy you already got a treasure, so let me have this one." Joak now has a serious face on, staring deadly at Rock not minding the stares he's getting.
"Hey, you two this isn't the time to be arguing, and who said this kid is yours?" One of the women stepped out as she established dominance against the others. The beauty seems to be in her 20s with a slender body and plentiful bosom, causing many people there to stare at her.
"Sophie is right, we shouldn't be arguing right now rather, how about we negotiate?" The man's name was Lucas, he looks to be in his 20s with a tall and muscular figure. He's also been chasing after Sophie ever since they were students. For 10 years, he had proposed to her over 15 times, which she refused to on every occasion. Lucas firmly believed that it was because they were too young so he kept persisting and followed her.
"Humph. Of course, you would be on her side, when have you never been on her side before?" Another woman with long black hair that flows down enhancing her bosom and waists. She was Amelia, Sophie's rival and they also attended the academy at the same time as Lucas.
"You again?"
"What do you mean by that? Are you pissed at me for speaking the truth?"
"Amelia... if you speak anymore, I'll truly get angry..."
"Hoho, I really want to see what it's like when you're angry"
At this point, Lucas was fuming, but he was restraining himself in front of Sophie. Amelia was pointing at his sour spot every time she got to. During her time in the academy Amelia had never liked Sophie, so she naturally also hates Lucas who was like a leech to her.
"Can you two shut up already? If you want to argue go back to the capital and do it. Stop wasting my time."
Sophie's patience was becoming thinner as she listened to their argument. She knew that if she doesn't step in it would last forever since the others are just watching this for entertainment. The two quickly shut up in fear that she would beat both of them up. ( Amelia had lost every single fight every time she dueled Sophie; which led to her fear for her.)
The phenomenon was reaching its climax when suddenly it was dispersed leaving behind a huge crater. Till now the ones in the air had no idea what was going on, after all the phenomenon was blocking all their senses.
"Hey, what's that in the middle of the crater?"

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
