I stared forward in disbelief. I should have just been a pirate. Clearly, I was in some sort of twisted rpg hell and the class I had been assigned was apparently that of A HEADBUTTER. Which, before I killed the millipede trying to eat me, DIDN'T EXSIST. Suffice to say, I was not enjoying my time in death tunnel. I pounded the thick exoskeleton of the bug in front of me in response.
After I finally got out my enough of my anger to think coherently/ smashed through the exoskeleton in front of me covering my hands in guts and insect blood, effectively replacing anger with disgust, I started to explore the screens before me.
What is subclass insectologist? I thought forcefully to the system in front of me.
Insectologist The study of Insects and their habits is your passion and subsequent profession. Proprietors of this subclass gain general knowledge of insects' biology and behavioral patterns that becomes more insightful with each level. This gives information on their strengths and weaknesses as well as possible ways to befriend these multi-legged monstrosities. This subclass grants a flat 15% damage boost to insects and the ability to much more easily have insects as companions- including insects impossible to bond with by less specialized zoology type classes.
Great! Insects were the biggest problem for me right now and to survive I needed to kill many of them. I already had this stupid headbutter class-which by the way isn't even a real word-so why not pick an equally useless subclass!
System, give me the insectologist subclass.

I sighed in exasperation. First I was thrown so deep underground that I was able to crawl for days without finding the surface, then I was forced to eat worms to survive and now the system who put me through all of this suffering wouldn't even allow me to indulge my self destructive tendencies? I was beyond the usual scope of human emotion. The wrath I felt was something very few people will ever feel, something born when everything you care about is taken from you and your actions are so restricted you are not even allowed the privilege of destroying yourself to join them. If this system was bent on causing me to make rational choices and advance to great heights in this sodden dung of a planet then I would. I would make rational choices that hurt it. Right then I swore that if the opportunity to hurt the system in any way ever represented itself I would take it. I would abide by it's rules for now and I would desperately struggle to survive, except now I had a goal I lacked before. I would get strong like this being wanted because I knew one day I'd have the opportunity to use that strength to make it feel something- to make it experience pain. My life had moved past a simple primal urge to not give up and die, now everything had an underlying purpose. I once again had resolved myself to keep moving forward, now with a goal in the back of my mind buried for the day I'd be able to cripple this false god. I shook my head as if to clear this fog of emotions gathered.
The systems notifications went on ignored for now. They blinked in front of me insistently with an arrow pointed down to indicate there was more of them to see, but I did not acknowledge them. I scraped forward over the corpse of the millipede not surprised by It's monstrous size. Eventually I grew tired of the constant blinking in my vision and so willed the screens to disappear. I returned back to the search for morsels in the dirt with vigor. I had killed something and that felt good. Now that the systems screens were no longer bothering me I could fully enjoy the cathartic release smashing that bug had given me and as I kept propelling myself forward within death tunnel, I realized that underneath my revulsion at being covered in a living things insides was the feeling of happiness. In-fact now that I wasn't distracted by screens and corpses alike, I felt a rush of elation within me. I smiled innocently- which given the various colors of blood splattered all over me probably didn't look too innocent at all.

Suddenly the tunnel I was in expanded on all sides, the ceiling sloping up and allowing me to get onto all fours. I laughed excitedly. Life was on the up and up. Unfortunately, my laughing was met by the chittering of another millipede which I could vaguely see in front of me. It spun around with surprising dexterity and I could vaguely see it's outline. It was almost 4 feet long with one foot in width and a body flat to the ground thick as vertical fist-bump. I could also see it had a friend slightly larger then it which was also spinning to face me. See the thing is that up until this point I hadn't been able to see anything without a fistful of glowing worms. So, instead of attacking the two threats in front of me like any sane human being would, I remained on all fours mouth open in shock as millipede number 1 lunged toward me. I quickly paid for this mistake as it's pincers closed around my wrist. Unbalanced and in pain I fell toward the disgusting creature gnawing on my arm and remembering my last encounter with this species of delinquents snapped my head down into it's noggin. With the advantage of momentum I was able to bury my head even deeper in this things skull than the first one I killed. It was at this moment that I could picture the system living inside of me burst into laughter as I once again lived up to my ridiculous joke of a class.
However, the fight was not over. The second creature I totally did not forget existed slammed into my right shoulder, it's pincers sinking deep into the flesh between the bones located there. I screamed in pain and frustration(mostly pain) and reached both injured limbs forward to tightly grasp it's dry exoskeleton- the feeling of millipede brain on my tongue revolting as I did so. I lifted my head out of mr stabby friends brain and ripped him out of my shoulder, using it's own efforts to scramble away to throw it deeper in the tunnel. My eyes remained closed as I spat the blood and grey matter out of my mouth to the area where I assumed was the bugs face lay.
Faintly I heard the millipede stop sliding backwards, followed by a louder hiss of rage as the thing was introduced to my homemade projectile. It quickly luged forward and I was barley able to shift my body directly in line with my enemies before it scurried and lunged for me once again. Except this time, it was head on; Unfortunately for me and mr stabby here, I excelled head on. As soon as I felt the slightest impact on my cheeks from the millipede's incisors I slammed my head down like a piston subsequently smashing its forehead in the same way I murdered the first millipede.
WOOOOOOOOOOOO. I lifted my head once again and screamed triumphantly at what I had accomplished- shoving the dead bugs to the sides of the larger space I was in. Which of course caused two things to happen: An unknown of amount of millipedes deeper in the tunnel to start chittering and chattering over one another excitedly, and white hot agony to flare up from the ragged wound in my shoulder and wrist causing my arms to go limp and a pained groan exit me. I lay there in pain and embarrassment before speaking softly.

8 174The Programmer's Dungeon [Progression, LitRPG]
Vincent, a college student from Earth, has been transported to another world full of strange powers and fantastic monsters. Ideally, this would be the start of his journey to become a legendary hero, build an everlasting empire, and gather a personal harem. But no one said that this new world would be easy… After escaping an assassination that accidentally befell him, he was forced to become a Dungeon Master. What will an average programmer student do when he finds out that he can code the dungeon? Vanquish those savages above with his tech and savviness — along with an army of golems? “Wait, this world isn’t even medieval?!” With all the questions piling up in his head, Vincent is set to uncover all these secrets! And… conquer the world, perhaps? The hard reboot of “The Programmer’s Dungeon.” It has an almost completely different plot, cast, and storyline, so expect tons of improvement from the old one. Disclaimer: This is a softcore LitRPG story; there are stats but no levels. Also, the LitRPG element isn’t the main focus of the story itself and is more of a support. I have enabled the reader’s suggestion, and therefore, you can correct any grammar mistakes and typos you find in the story. There will definitely be some that I miss. Cheers! The cover was made by Jack0fheart, so a shout-out for him. Releasing 3 chapters per week at 12.00 GMT on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday with at least 2000+ words.
