《djinn's child》chapter 7: gods and pets

As I was humming time seemed to slow as I waited for Caz to wake up. “It feels like I’ve been sitting here for hours” I said as I got up out of the chair. I slowly walked to the monster made by one of the godly beings. As I picked up it’s center I felt a shock of power as a flower bloomed behind me. The flower was as big as a person instinct told me to hide. I hid me and Caz in a small pocket dimension that was pure darkness. As the flower bloomed I saw a person covered in flowers. There green hair flowed as he walked to the center of the room where the withered mangrove had been left.
“How did the manage to kill my new plant” the green haired man had said putting his hand on the mangrove. As his hand touched the mangrove a flower grew from the ground. The new flower began to open and show a face on the flower. The flower opened its mouth “it seems that someone helped them as it seemed to have a spear as well” the flower said trying to act confident. A sharp glare hit the plant “I know that I made it” the green haired man said as he stood up. As the flower began to shrivel up “are you looking down on me . A godly being!” The green haired man said as put his hand out to the plant.
“Please forgive me my lord” the flower said bowing not looking up from the ground. A scoff came from the green haired man as he turned towards the man grove. “A plant that can rival gods if given time lost maybe it needs something” the green haired man said scratching his chin. I began to fear if the godly being would feel me and Caz’s presence. “Ah I have an idea” the green haired man said with a flick of his finger. “What is your idea my lord” the flower said barely looking up from the ground. As the godly being turned towards the flower he pulled out a small bead from the flower “a consensus” he said making a new mangrove. The new man grove seemed to be undeveloped compared to the last.
As the godly being walked to the new mangrove he slid the small bead in the mangrove. After a moment a sound came from Caz who was still asleep. The godly being looked around it felt like our eyes met. “It seems I need to leave this place soon” the man said as the mangrove awoke. As the mangrove looked at the godly being he got on one knee “I greet my lord” the mangrove said as the vines shook. “Yes yes let’s go I must prepare” the godly being said as he tired to the flower who was killed to help the mangrove grow. As the mangrove and godly being walked to the flower that brought the godly being a loud sound of thunder crashed through the sky.

The mangrove and godly being disappeared as the flower that brought them seemed to fade. The dead flower withered away and turned to ash. As I pulled me and Caz out of the pocket dimension. “Thank goodness there gone” I said laying Caz back down where he was sleeping. I began to go back to the chair to calm down. “That was way to close” I said pulling out a small book to write down what I know about the green haired man. First he was one of the four godly beings. Second he had made a monster that become as strong as the two gods. Third he was willing to give up other plants to make the mangrove stronger.
A thought came to mind if this godly being is gonna make new monsters I’ll give it a try as well. I heard the sound of Caz waking up “good morning little Caz” I said as I turned to him. Caz stood up and said “good morning what you doing” while looking at my book. “I’m writing what I know about the godly being” I said pointing to the mangrove. “What do you know about the mangrove” Caz said walking to the mangrove. “I know that it was made to rival the two gods” I said looking at the book. With a look of confusion Caz asked “how was this going to rival the gods?” While taking a step back. With a sigh I got up “it gets stronger the more it fights if it were to fight a army of humans it could become a tier four monster” I said while standing up.
“So we got lucky and killed it before it could fight more” Caz said while poking the mangrove. “Pretty much” I said as I put my book away in my bag. “Is it safe for us to stay here what if the godly being comes?” Caz said grabbing his stuff. “It’s safe he already came” I said waving Caz to relax. “When did he come” Caz said as he sat down on the floor. “He came while you were asleep” I said trying to think of a new monster. “I won’t question it” Caz said pulling his hair back. “We need to go over two things” I said holding up two fingers. “What are they” Caz said looking at me.

“First I want to get you a monster familiar to help you fight” I said putting down one finger. “Why do I need a familiar to help me fight?” Caz said looking at me with confusion. “The more you fight with the monster it will make it easier for you too fight groups” I said while thinking. “Second you need to go to school for magic” I said putting my hand down. “Can’t you teach me?” Caz said looking at me nervously. “To be honest I use magic on instinct I don’t know how to teach you” I said rubbing my eyes. “Oh I think I understand” Caz said looking at the floor.
“We can handle the second problem later on” I said looking at Caz who looked happy. “So I don’t have to go to school!” Caz said looking at me with joy. “Not yet but don’t worry” I said smiling at Caz. “But we can do the first one right now but it will be a pain” I said biting my nails. “What do we have to do?” Caz said jumping up. “First try and think of a monster it can be one that’s fake” I said pointing at his head. “That’s all there is too it?” Caz said looking at me. “Yup that’s all there is to it”. I said standing up. “Let me know when you think up the monster” I said as I walked behind him.
After a few moments “I have it in my mind” Caz said with his eyes closed. “Ok make sure to only think of that okay” I said putting my hand on his back. “Okay” Caz said while I put mana in his body. As my mana flowed I saw the image of a cat I couldn’t help but smile. As I gathered the thought and his soul. I pointed my other hand at the floor and made a circle that glowed a sky blue. A small cat with wings came out of the circle. “You can look” I said as I moved my hand and sat in the chair. As Caz opened his eye the cat jumped onto Caz’s shoulder.
“Say hi to your familiar” I said pointing at the cat. “Hi little kitty nice to meet you” Caz said scratching the cats chin. The cat spread its wings. “Well you seem to get along great” I said smiling. “Thank you for helping me” Caz said giving me a bow. “Don’t worry little Caz you should give your cat a name” I said pointing to the cat on his shoulder. “Oh I think I have an idea” Caz said looking at the cat. “Zeta” Caz said watching the cat try to fly with its wings. “That’s a nice name for a cat like this” I said while petting the cat.
“You think so!” Caz said as he sat on the ground. “By the way do you know any good magic schools?” I asked while looking at the roof. “I know the best magic school is called myrin” Caz said, scratching his head. “What city is it?” I asked, thinking we might go there. “I think it’s in the city Tirana” Caz said while stretching. “I think we can stop there” I said as I stood up. “Alright sounds good” Caz said as zeta hopped on his shoulder. “Do you know the requirements to enter the school?” I asked preparing if to leave. “All you need is I think a high aptitude for magic and a traveler card” Caz said petting zeta. “We should be all good then” I said as we left the building. “To Tirana to get you to school” I said as we left on the old path.

How the Stars Turned Red
Announcement as of 05 July 2022: I've been diagnosed with some pretty severe nerve damage in my left arm, rendering me unable to write effectively, and as such this story is on hold until it is healed. I am so sorry, and I promise to get back to writing as soon as possible. In the latter half of the 3rd millennium CE, humanity has spread across the stars, inhabiting close to five-hundred worlds across the Orion Arm. Earth has become irrelevant, a historical has-been. The galactic map is dominated by two mega-factions, both controlling vast amounts of territories either through direct control or through their many allies and treaty signatories. The Kingdom of Aurora is the political and economic hegemon despite consisting of only seven inhabited worlds; their strength lies in the Royal Union, an interstellar commonwealth composing an internal market and a common defence pact. These member worlds are myriad and varied, culturally as well as politically, but they all flock to the same banner. The Independent Systems Alliance, spearheaded by the Republic of Elysium, is the ascendant challenger to Aurora and the Union. A pseudo-federal multi-system polity, the Alliance economy and military is rapidly expanding, but at the cost of effective democratic and meritocratic involvement by its people. However, with two superpowers as this, chafing along a common border, and with a constant clamour of polemics, both sides have become convinced the other is constantly preparing for war and are on the look-out for any perceived weakness in their opponent. The predictable result is a huge arms race and a cold war spreading across the stars, requiring only a spark to set the galaxy aflame. Drawn into this game of high stakes are ordinary men and women, their peaceful lives, hopes, and aspirations swallowed by the vortex of conflict and distrust. This is their story. Cover art by Rhodex Designs (FB). Hope you like long chapters and adjectives. Note: English is not my first language. Another story set in the same universe, written by a good friend
