《djinn's child》Chapter 6: night and vines

~Doran POV~
As Caz fell asleep to my humming I got up from the bed and turned of the light. As the room dimmed I opened the window but before I leaped through I said “sleep well little Caz”. I jumped out onto the roof of the inn. As I looked up at the sky I decided to go to a church to see how much religion has changed.
As I ran on the roof tops each step felt smooth. As I past the shopping district where I bought Cazlid his armor I saw the church. I jumped on to the roof and went through a window in the roof. I saw paintings on every wall. At the center was a painting of two people. Two people I knew right away. The creators of this world the gods of life and death.
Surrounding the other walls were four other people. The first with a dark gray light that held the moon. The second a bright yellow hair in yellow clothes that held the sun. The third a green hair and nature followed. The fourth a pink hair that seemed to cry while surrounded by people.
All seemed to have been the same but one person was missing one that was deemed evil and cast to another world. It did not tell of how the fifth came to be and how he fell. It made no difference if the fifth was told in the story. So before I left I went down to the center of the church. I bowed to each person and said “thank you for all you have done” . As I finished my prayer I left to head back to the inn.
As I jumped across the roofs I saw the shape of a person. In that second I saw one of the people I was looking for. As quick as they appeared they disappeared even quicker. I shrugged it of as a illusion made by my mind to give me hope. If that was what happened then it surely did work. The hope I lost came back as I believed that they still could be here in this world. As the night passed I could only think of how different the world is now. As I neared the inn I snuck in and closed the window.
As the morning sun rose I saw Caz was still asleep. “wake up little Caz it’s time to go hunting” I said in a loud stern tone. As Caz shook awake he fell to the ground with a loud clash of metal. “ow that hurt…” Caz said as he got up from the ground. “you want to spend more time in this town before we leave right” I said as I cleaned him up a bit. “I do but that did hurt” Caz said as he rubbed his back. “sorry little Caz but you know the saying the early bird gets the worm” i said with a light laugh. “alright so what will I be fighting today” Caz said as he picked up his spear. “Just a small group of vine traps” I said as we left the room.
As we walked down the hall I had a thought “do you know what vine traps are by chance” I asked as we got to the front desk. “no I do not what are they” Caz said as I handed the key to the lady at the front desk. “Miss we may not come back tonight so I’ll leave the key with you” I said handing the key to the girl. As we left the inn and the sun shined we walked to the gate and saw the guard from the day we entered the city. “Hello sir how are you” the guard said giving us a wave. “Hello we’re doing good how are you?” I said giving him a hand shake.

“How did it go did you get traveler cards” the card said smiling with a wide grin. “We got approved I’m about to take Caz out for a hunt” I said looking at Caz who was still holding his spear. “Sounds fun. Are you excited Caz” the guard said looking at Caz’s new armor. “I am we’re gonna hunt vine traps” Caz said with a grin that made him seem innocent. “That seems a little dangerous don’t you think” the guard said looking at me with concern. “Don’t worry he’s a better fighter then you think” I said patting Caz’s head with a smile. “If you say so” the guard said as he gave us a wave as we walked away.
“Are vine traps dangerous?” Caz asked looking up at me. As I looked down at him “not really I’ll teach you something before hand” I said as I looked back up. As we walked we saw a old building covered in vines. It looked like a haunted house with a brick wall surrounding it. As we looked at the building I told Caz “all you have to do is find where the most vines are and stab at the center of the vines” I said showing a small picture of it made of dust. “Do you have any other tips for me?” Caz said gripping his spear.
“It may be hard for you to deal with the vines so make sure you fine the center quick” I said as Caz stretched to get ready to run. “Is that all there is to killing vine traps” Caz said as he was about to open the door. “Oh make sure you use what I thought you” I said as a vine staved out of the door almost stabbing Caz in the gut. “Good to know” Caz said as he ran in to the old building. As he ran in I turned to dust to follow him with out distracting him in his fight.
As Caz ran in the vines whirled around and hit his chest. The armor I bought him was hit and launched Caz back. I saw the vines come from the walls and stabbed at Caz. As Caz tried to dodge like I thought him but his leg got caught on a vine. As I saw him fall the vines stabbed his arm a scream of pain came from Caz. Vines ripped out of his arm a hole that looked as if it was caused by a weapon. Caz began to cover the hole as he ran further in to the building.
Each vine he past stabbed out at him leaving holes in his legs, gut, and arms. Blood flowed out as he ran leaving a trail that covered the walls. As he ran further in the vines began to slash at Caz. Vines mixed together and cut his face leaving a cut where you could see his jaw. As another vine stabbed at Caz he tried to move but the vine through one of the holes left by a vine from earlier. I heard a sigh of relief from Caz as he ran nearing a wall of vines.
As Caz grabbed his spear and slashed through the vine wall with all his strength. As he ran through the vine wall I saw Caz look at two people in the building fending of vines l. As a vine stabbed Caz’s foot he screamed and ran to the two people to help them. As a vine was about to strike a man clad in armor Caz cut the vine just before it could stab him. “Thank you!” Said the man in the thick armor. Caz gave him a nod and cut a patch of vines on the wall. “Are you ok you’re really hurt” said the second man in a mages robe. “I’m fine let’s hurry up before it gets worse” Caz yelled as he ran further in. “Why are you going that way the exit is that way” the man clad in armor said pointing his sword to the exit.

“I can’t leave till I kill all the vine traps” Caz said with a look of joy and fear. As more vines shot out at the two men the man in robes burned a wall of vines. “If you aren’t gonna help then leave!” Caz said as he cut a vine that slashed at him. The two men looked at each other I wanted to yell at them for being useless but I decided to let him do this on his own. “We’ll help you” said the two men trying to catch up to Caz.
Caz and the two men were close to reaching the center I wanted to yell in joy but held it back. As I watched them near the center of the vine they began to become more violent. The vines grouped together to form the shape of a human. “What the hell” Caz said jumping back. The man shaped vine lunged at the group and formed a spear made of vines in one hand. In the other hand was a sword that seemed to be able to cut through stone.
The man clad in armor pulled Caz back and put a shield up to block the sword. The vine sword cut through the shield and cut the man’s arm off. A scream of pain came from the man. As the mage began to cast a spell the vine man jabbed at him with the vine spear. Caz stoped the attack and aimed it to the roof as the spear stabbed the roof it bag an to grow out of its back a second pair of arms. As it started to through punches non stop leaving gashes in the man clad in armor.
I saw Caz looking around while fighting the vine man. He stopped searching for a moment I thought he had found the center. With a look of horror he looked at the vine man “the center of the vine trap is in the man” Caz said as he got his by a fist. All three man looked at the vine trap in horror. As the man in robes finished his spell he fired it out at the vine man. It blew a hole as big a cannon ball in the vine trap. As the vine trap began to burn the spear that was stuck in the roof came out and slashed down and cut off Caz’s left arm.
As Caz screamed the vine trap punched down the man in armor his wounds seemed to be fatal. His life began to fade I felt a hint of guilt feeling that I should step in. That feeling disappeared as caz jabbed his spear at the vine trap near the center. But the vine trap grabbed Caz’s spear and through him back. As Caz was being thrown the man in robes launched a spell that left a open area to his the center. As the center of the vine trap was exposed it let go of the spear and tried to cover the exposed area.
As the vine trap covered the exposed area Caz jabbed his spear through the center. The vines slowly began to wither away. Caz fell to the ground in exhaustion “we need to get you both help” said the man in robes grabbing Caz and the man in armor. I decided that it was enough as I reformed the man in robes looked at me with fear. “Stay away” the man in robes said as he began to cast a spell. “It’s ok he is here to help” Caz said looking at me with a smile. “You did good little Caz let me heal you up real quick” I said looking at him while I felt guilty.
A light glowed around Caz and the man in armor. The wounds on them began to heal leaving no sign of a wound ever being there. The clothes and armor began to turn back to normal as the light faded Caz and the man in armor sat up. “Thank you” said the two men got on there knees. “It’s nothing consider it a thank you for helping my son” I said with a smile as Caz stood up. “Why didn’t you tell me it could become more human” Caz said looking at me with a pouty face. “Because it wouldn’t have if you did the moves properly” I said as I pinched Caz’s cheek. “Ow ok ok” Caz said looking at me with a smile.
“Ah right the two men how did you end up here” I said as I though that no one was supposed to be in the building. “Some traveler with green hair told us about this place” the two men said as they stood up. As I thought who could have do it one person came to mind. “did the person have a cut on there nose” I asked worried about the answer. After a bit the men looked at me and said “yes it was a small cut but there was a cut on his nose” the men said looking at each other in confusion. “Whatever head home you two alright” I said while glaring at the men. “Yes sir” the men said as they ran out the building.
“Do you know who told them about this place” Caz said looking up at me. With a sigh I said “yes they are a godly being of nature” I said as I sat in a chair. “Why would a god put people in danger?” Caz asked as he sat on the floor. “Not a god a godly being he serves under gods but he just wants nature to rule without humans” I said while applying pressure to my head. “So the godly being wants nature all over” caz said looking at me with confusion. “Yes but gods and godly being sent allowed to interfere with each other” I said as I pulled my hair back.
“So why did he send people hear to kill the vine trap” Caz asked while looking at the withered vines. “He either wanted to test that plant or he wanted to feed it” I said looking at the roof. “Will that be a problem for us” Caz asked with a worried face. “As long as we don’t go near plants we should be fine” I said thinking of the vine man. “Well it is a new monster let’s name it” Caz said smiling at me. “You killed it so give it a name” I said letting my hair down. “How about mangrove you get it” Caz said looking at me with a goofy smile. “That’s a good name little Caz” I said as I stood up. Caz looked at me happily “let’s leave in a few hours till the rest up” I said as Caz passed out right away. With a light hum I sat down and waited.
