《Once Upon a Time in a Foreign Land》Chapter 015 : Zhonghang Qiuzhen

The woman smiled. Then she sat down on the bench right next to Qiuzhen. Qiuzhen then handed the novel to the woman.
"Thank you, Sir!" the woman said.
"You are welcome," Qiuzhen said. "What is a novel about, anyway? I only had time to read chapter one."
"I haven't finished reading it either, Sir! Just yesterday I got this novel. So I've only read it only up to chapter three. So far I can't say anything about the entire content of the novel. But people who have finished reading this novel said that this novel is a mix of various genres. So it's very difficult to classify it into a particular genre."
When he picked up the book and then tried to read it, Qiuzhen did not pay attention to the author's name and the novel's title. Only then did Qiuzhen try to take a look at the author's name and the title of the book. It turned out that the title of the novel was The Empty Nest, while the author's name was Liowmuh Ellisan. It was written on the cover of the book.
"I rarely read novels. So I don't know much about novelists. Is this person one of the most famous writers?"
"I don't know either, Sir! I hardly ever read novels. Yesterday, my friend gave me this novel as a birthday gift."
Qiuzhen nodded. "By the way, why did you leave this bench earlier?"
"Because it's rush hour, so the train is full of passengers coming home from work. So I try to read this novel here while waiting for time to pass until the train becomes quieter. Maybe I'll just be home a little later. But I'd rather come home a little late than be tormented on the way home. Standing crammed into public transportation is very tiring for me."
So true! I also agree with this opinion!
"Suddenly I saw someone I seemed to know. He was standing there." The woman pointed to a tavern about thirty meters in front of them.
Qiuzhen's eyes were still good, so he could still clearly see the place she was pointing at.
Ah! It looks like the food sold there is very delicious. I suddenly became starving.
After taking a breath, the woman continued her speech. "I called him. Even though I screamed with all my might, but maybe because the distance between us was too far, so he didn't hear. The person then moved away from that place, so I ran to chase him there." The woman pointed to a shop about a hundred meters from the bench where the two of them were sitting.

This time, the place the woman pointed at was quite far away. Qiuzhen could still see it, but he couldn't clearly see what the shop was selling.
This woman is amazing if she can still see clearly at such a long distance!
"After losing track of that person, I tried to find him, but he was gone. A few minutes later, I realized I had left this novel on this bench. If it were to be lost, of course I would feel bad for my friend. Next year he may be reluctant to give me another birthday present."
Although sometimes Qiuzhen thought of other things when he was talking to someone, he always paid close attention to all the words of the person he was talking to. Just like that time, Qiuzhen listened to the woman's explanation seriously. He can understand the guilt feeling when he loses an item that is a gift from someone else.
The woman then looked right into Qiuzhen's face. It made Qiuzhen feel a little embarrassed.
"As I explained earlier. Now is rush hour. The train is very crowded with passengers. I wait until the train is not too full," said the woman. "Are you also like me, waiting until the train is not too crowded?"
Ah! This woman really likes to invite other people to chat. Could it be that the man was deliberately pretending not to hear so he wouldn't have to talk to this woman!
"Oh, no. I'm going to the building around here. But I promised to get there at night. So now I'm waiting here to waste some time."
"You didn't bring an umbrella?" The woman turned the conversation to other things.
I have to quickly find a way to get out of here as soon as possible!
"The weather forecast says it will only rain during the day. It will be sunny tonight."
"But Sir! It's been raining for a few days suddenly around dusk. After that, the rain stopped. Later in the evening, it rained again. If I were you, I would go to that building right now. Even if after getting there you feel it's still too early, that's not a problem. You can rest in the building. I think it's much better than getting soaked in the rain in the middle of the road."
Qiuzhen thought for a moment. He felt that what she said made sense.
Thank You! It's a good reason to get out of here right away.
"Ah, then I'll just go now. Thank you," said Qiuzhen.
"You are welcome, sir!"
After saying that, Qiuzhen got up and walked out of the station complex. He walked hurriedly out of the subway station door. It is now dark. The woman's words turned out to be reasonable. It looks like it was going to rain again, like a few hours ago. The intersection in front of the station is also very quiet tonight. As far as Qiuzhen recalled, the situation at this intersection was rather quiet at sunset, but it usually got a bit crowded again towards evening. At the moment, only one or two vehicles were passing by. Almost no people were walking.

Among the six of them, Qiuzhen was the first to migrate to this city. Unlike the other five people in their group. Qiuzhen did not intend to venture into faraway places. Qiuzhen was born and passed childhood in the same city as Shanquan. He had known Shanquan since he was a student in elementary school. At that time, Qiuzhen was a friend of Shazha Yilang, who was the son of Shanquan's third cousin, on his maternal side, named Wuma Chaodeng.
Qiuzhen often comes to play at Yilang's house, not far from his house. Shanquan also frequently visited Yilang's place. When it happened that the two of them were there, they often got involved in discussions on various topics. Unlike Yilang, who didn't really enjoy reading books, Qiuzhen really liked to read anything, making it suitable to be friends with Shanquan. Over time, Qiuzhen was even closer to Shanquan than to Yilang, even though Qiuzhen's age was far below Shanquan.
When Qiuzhen was in Junior High School, Qiuzhen's father, who worked as a civil servant, was transferred to a very remote city. He served there until his retirement. Therefore Qiuzhen finished school and grew up in that faraway city. He never returned to his hometown again.
Three years ago, Qiuzhen moved to this city. There was his friend who, for some reason, had to take a sabbatical. Qiuzhen replaced his friend and worked at the company for one year. After that, because his friend was active again, Qiuzhen looked for another job in this city. One year of living in this city made Qiuzhen feel at home, so he decided to stay. Incidentally, at the same time, there was a new company that was founded. Qiuzhen immediately applied to work there.
One year later, Qiuzhen coincidentally met Shanquan, who was visiting this city. When Shanquan and the rest of his friends decided to try settling in, Qiuzhen gave them advice on places they could choose to stay. After getting a house, Shanquan instead invited Qiuzhen to live with them. Incidentally, Qiuzhen is also looking for a new place to live, closer to his new office. So without much consideration, Qiuzhen joined and lived with Shanquan and his friends.
Qiuzhen only stayed with them for about six months. The company Qiuzhen works for has made tremendous progress. Then they will also open a new branch in Yuezhao, a large city far to the north. The company sent Qiuzhen to work at the new branch.
Qiuzhen had been working for half a year in Yuezhao. This morning he left for this city because he had an important business. Actually, he really had to return to this city because the company determined to pull him back to the head office based in this city. But the initial plan was not to come back here until next week. There was an emergency that forced him to go home early.
Two days ago, he received a strange package from his friend, Songfei. Maybe it was not quite right to say that he just received the package two days ago because the package actually arrived a week ago. Songfei sent it to the office's address where Qiuzhen worked in Yuezhao.
When the package arrived, Qiuzhen was not in Yuezhao City because two weeks ago, Qiuzhen went to Yangao, a city located about two hundred kilometers from Yuezhao. As the company he worked for had made tremendous progress in a short period of time, they would once again open a new branch, namely in Yangao. Qiuzhen was one of five employees sent by the company to Yangao to survey the location of their branch office. Therefore, Qiuzhen only received the package after returning to Yuezhao two days ago.
The contents of the package were bizarre. In the letter attached to the package, Songfei wrote he was investigating what could be a criminal offense. Songfei said the criminals were likely aware that they were being investigated. Even though he was worried about his safety, Songfei was still determined to investigate the matter. He asked Qiuzhen to retrieve some items stored in a unit on the tenth floor of a building on the border of this city. The unit in that building was rented by Songfei to store several items related to the club he managed, namely the detective and mystery club.
Songfei then asked Qiuzhen to keep the items for an undetermined period. The young man also wrote that Qiuzhen would not tell anyone about it. Songfei did not explain in detail what crimes he was investigating. Nor did it say why Qiuzhen shouldn't tell anyone. That was also one of the reasons why Qiuzhen had intended to come at night. By entering the building at night, he will only meet the night watchman.

Unfinished - Apologies to anyone who was reading but I have no current intentions to revisit this story Alex was stuck in a rut: He was nearing thirty, and his career seemed to be going no-where; He used to have plenty of friends at university, but had gradually lost touch with them. He had recently started using a dating site, but truthfully he never quite got over his ex. It could be worse; he didn't spend his nights wallowing in self pity. However, he had a sinking feeling that his life was going no-where fast. When Alex decided to take up an old hobby all he really was looking for was something fun to do on friday nights. Thrust into another world by a mad mage Alex must adapt quickly to survive. Unfortunately, Alex showed up late to game night and ends up stuck with a pretty mediocre character in this game like reality. Alex must learn to survive in this new world; just because it all seems like a giant game doesn't make death any less terrifying. This will be my first attempt at writing litrpg. I wanted to set myself the challenge of writing every week and I think knowing people might be reading it will motivate me. I've always worked much better with external deadlines. FAQ Why should I read this LitRPG? I am writing because I enjoy it and you should read it if you enjoy it. If I had to make an elevator pitch I would start off by saying my MC is a rogue type character, which seems a relatively uncommon character at least based on what I have read. I also strive to make the supporting cast three dimensional characters, and not just caricatures. Finally, I can't forget that this is a LitRPG so I have tried to make a RPG system with depth, and one that makes sense. How often will you release chapters? At least once a week is my goal. I am a nurse with a baby at home, so between my hospital and my baby I won't have time for more unless something dramatically changes. Will there be romance? I won't rule it out as I try to let my characters write their own stories. However, there will NEVER be a harem, it just isn't something I am interested in. Gore, Profanity, and Traumatising Content? I don't intend to have any of these present at obscene levels, but my tolerance might be different to yours. The tags are mostly there to cover me. A War Beyond Kings
Author: I made som mistakes early in the story that I will have to correct, but it will take some time. I have not abandoned this story, but I will be working on my computer and will not be active on royal road. "The elves start to leave their secure forest of Silvanwood for the first time in over two thousand years. Wizards are murdered in their own homes one by one to the dismay of the Jeidan Order of mages. The ancient ruins in Agnellia seem to have awoken after thousands of years of abandon. The flames of war are brewing, and the continent of Maëgor is about to witness a war like never seen before." Author’s note: This is a serious story, loosely inspired from many great works, which you will maybe be able to identify on your own. It is entirely original though. I’ll be working on this for hours every day, but that doesn’t necessarily means that there’ll be daily chapters. I don't own the rights to the cover image, and will immediatly take it down if the author requires so. Every chapter will be at least 2000 words. And congratulations to anyone who guesses on which language the chapter titles are written in.

Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Dia, forced to wield arms, begins and ends a battle that opens her eyes to the vast dangers that lurk in this sundered world. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess.
