《Once Upon a Time in a Foreign Land》Chapter 010 : Nangong Yiren

After the meeting with his former colleague ended, Yiren did not right away return home. He wandered around to see other places. Places where he might be able to find a decent place to live. He just returned home around six in the afternoon.
At that time, Yixiong had just arrived home. They did not immediately enter the house but chatted briefly with the neighbor from next door. From that person, Yiren and Yixiong knew that yesterday there was a package for them. Not long after the conversation with the neighbor, their two friends, Xinxiu and Zhengyi, arrived home. The four of them entered the house together. Except for Xinxiu, who walked straight to the kitchen, the three of them sat on the sofa in the living room.
"You look dazzling this afternoon?" Yixiong patted Zhengyi's back. "Is there anything out of the ordinary that I need to know about?"
"It's just Xiongge's feelings," said Zhengyi. "Nothing special happened."
"Is that true?" Yixiong looked at him suspiciously. "Yiren, what do you think?"
After watching Zhengyi's face for about thirty seconds, Yiren nodded. "Xiongge is right! Something has happened!"
"Nothing," said Zhengyi. "Today everything I experienced was relatively the same as other days. Not a single piece of surprise happened to me."
Yiren didn't believe Zhengyi's confession at all. The facial expression that Zhengyi showed, there must be a reason.
"If you don't believe me, just ask Xinxiu," Zhengyi said.
"Xinxiu!" Yiren shouted in a loud voice. "You arrived home at the same time as Yige. Did you see anything earlier?"
Xinxiu hurriedly ran into the living room. He appeared with a slightly annoyed face. "What's wrong? Renge, I was in the bathroom!"
Yiren immediately pointed at Zhengyi with his index finger. Xinxiu tilted his head. Apparently, he didn't understand what Yiren meant.

"Our Zhengyi seems very cheerful. Don't you think you know what caused it?" Yixiong smiled widely.
Xinxiu shook his head. His eyes were spinning. He seemed to be trying hard to remember something.
"Just blurt it," Yiren urged.
"Ah!" Finally, Xinxiu let out a loud enough exclamation. "Maybe because of the girl."
"What girl?" Yiren leaned towards Xinxiu. The few words that came out of his best friend's mouth had piqued his curiosity.
"Earlier, in front of this complex, we met a girl. She was carrying a lot of things. Then a little boy ran and hit the girl."
"Then the things fell off?" guess Yixiong. His face also looks curious.
Xinxiu nodded. "That's right! Everything was scattered on the sidewalk. Yige and I helped the girl collect her scattered things." He explained while moving his hands here and there.
"This is just incredible news!" Yiren laughed loudly. He gave a thumbs up and patted Xinxiu on the back. "Then what happened next?"
"Nothing. The girl continued on her way to nowhere, while we headed straight home."
Yixiong gaped at Xinxiu and Zhengyi. "You didn't ask the girl anything?" He asked in a tone of disbelief.
"Ask about what?" Xinxiu turned to look confusedly at Yixiong.
"Are you crazy?" Yiren became impatient. "Of course asking where her house is, what her phone number is, why she's walking alone. Stuff like that!"
Isn't that too vulgar? Xinxiu scratched his head. "She might even get scared."
"I don't think it's vulgar at all," Yixiong said. "It all depends on how you ask."
"Would Xiongge do something like that if Xiongge was the one who met that girl earlier?" asked Xinxiu.
"Of course not?" Yixiong replied as fast as lightning.

"But didn't Xiongge just say it wasn't vulgar?"
"Xiongge's looks and appearance are not at all suitable for doing such things," Yiren preceded Yixiong to answer the question. He then pointed at Xinxiu and Zhengyi. "But actions like that match your looks so well!"
Yixiong burst out laughing while Zhengyi glared at Yiren. The calmer Xinxiu just grinned.
Yiren hadn't stopped talking. He continued his words straight away. "And even if you still think it's too vulgar for you to do, then you might act worried when you see the girl alone. It's a way of getting further opportunities. For example, the chance to take the girl home. You could have told her it's a bit unsafe here lately."
"Actually, I did think that way." Zhengyi finally said something. He finally admitted that something had happened on the way back home. "But Xinxiu asked me to hurry home instead."
"That's because I needed to pee," said Xinxiu. "Besides, Yige doesn't show any signs of wanting to linger in the middle of the road either."
"That's not what I had in mind," Zhengyi said. "It all happened so fast. So by the time I finished thinking, the girl was already moving away from us."
"Hah! You guys really suck!" Yiren said resentfully. "You are really hopeless!"
"Then why is our Zhengyi acting like this?" Yixiong looked at Zhengyi with a questioning look.
"Maybe because that girl was laughing all the time when she saw Yige," said Xinxiu.
"Is that all? She did nothing else?" Yiren patted his forehead. That ridiculous fact made him a little irritated. Everyone would definitely think that such a thing was not fun at all. Yiren was absolutely sure of that.
"Doesn't that mean I'm pretty decent in that girl's eyes?" There was a note of pride in Zhengyi's voice.
"Pretty good in what way?" Yixiong laughed loudly. His eyes narrowed.
"She laughed when she saw me, didn't it mean she thought I'm quite qualified?"
"What do you mean by quite qualified? Maybe today's scorching heat has made your brain short circuit." Yiren also laughed.
"But she smiled and laughed at me!" Zhengyi insisted.
"A girl's smile and laugh can have many meanings." Yixiong explained.
"Right!" Yiren added. "A girl will laugh when she sees a strange boy who looks stupid and tacky. She will also laugh when she sees an ugly man who is like a big frog jumping in the fields!"
Zhengyi glared at Yiren's answer. He stood up and was about to put his hands on Yiren's neck.
"Stop it! Enough! No need to continue," said Yixiong. "We were just joking. Maybe you're right. The girl might find you so unique. But next time you should ask her. At least you should know her name."

The first arc is planned to be Dungeon Core with City Building elements in an Urban Fantasy setting. A Nerd's Wet Dream Come True (Tossing an OC into Marvel) V2.
Andrew William. A perfectly average boring name for a perfectly average and boring boy. He wasn't particularly smart nor gifted. Not in academics nor in sports. He wasn't even as good as the other losers and "nerds" in his school. He could not remember the expansive lore of Star Wars, he could not recite the dialogue of Startek nor pull off any cool one-liners and quotes, and he couldn't beat the final level in most games without resorting to cheating or mods. All he had was half-assed knowledge of pop culture and comics, but the one thing he was good at, his one and only pride and calling in life? Making Youtube videos. No, it wasn't sad! He was actually quite popular, honest! He made videos of adventure and nature, although it was mostly of the creepy variety. Abandoned hospitals, old mines, long tunnels, and undiscovered caverns. And as ironic as it was predictable, it would, of course, turn out to be the reason that he died. Well, at least he could take comfort in dying doing what he loved, not many people these days could say the same, you know? The concept comforted him at least, but it turns out death is not always as permanent as people liked to think, because Andrew somehow found himself in New York City of all places after falling to his certain death in the Devil's hole, Death Valley Nevada., only thing was it certainly wasn't the New York that he knew of. The Fantastic Four? Stark Industry? Captain America's biography? Oh boy, and did he mention he's no longer human? His Asian friends had introduced him to the wonders of Isekai novels and mangas, but isn't the order a little messed up? Where's his meeting with the sexy and nice Goddess? Where was his intro or tutorial?? Explanation plz I'm a noob at cross-dimensional travel! Help? Setting? Menu? Status? May I please get to pick my own cheat power? No? I'm stuck as a virus? Well, At least the Prototype Virus was pretty darn cool and OP. Just not as op as being able to casually break the sound barrier in my sneakers or bench pressing the earth, but I'll just have to make do. Please don't be some fucked up Marvel continuity where Nazis and Hydra won or some shit. Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore

The Gatekeeper
Quick Synopsis:This is the story of Reylor, a god-like existence who lost a great portion of his strength when accidentally sent from his “home” to another world. Making friends and learning to harness to power of magic, he maintains his commitment to his prior duty and proceeds to fight against corruption, both on a political front and against what is known as the shade.(Note, this story focuses on action and adventure, so politics are not in depth) This has been my first novel, which was primarilly inteded as a learning experience, and so it may be a bit rough in regards, but it should definitely be readable and it is a full story. I may make some adjustments to it later on, but there's no guarantee... anyhow, it's free to read, so give it a go! Also, feel free to check out my new website: aretornovels.wordpress.com
