《Re: Apocalypse Games (GAMELit)》044 - Shops

Alan and Nims went to one of the port towns, toward the center of a busy intersection where four rows of colonial buildings met.

Thousands of people messily gathered in front of a four-story building. The enormous crowd jostled against one another, and some people who couldn't keep their spots even got pushed out.

On the building's door was a sign that said [Skill Shop].

In truth, this shop was one of the four identical skill shops available in the port city. Even so, there were a total of over 22,000 anxious survivors in this place alone, and skill shops had always been one of the most popular places survivors frequented.

Although for different reasons, the two couldn't help but look at the overcrowded shop for a moment.

"Alan… are we going to wait there?" the monk doubtfully asked. His eyes were still fixed on the enormous crowd in front of the building.

"Of course not," Alan looked at him and casually answered. Under Nims's inquiring gaze, he then pointed toward another building at the corner of the intersection.

"I never said we were going to buy skills first."

Nims's gaze followed where Alan's index finger was pointing at. A building similar to the overcrowded skill shop stood on the opposite road, and in front of it was a sign that said [Job Class].

Despite being one of the places that could players bring immensely important benefits, it was nowhere as crowded as the skill shop they had just seen moments ago. Not even 10 players were seen around the building.

As soon as they approached the building, Nims quickly understood why.

"Good afternoon, players. You are allowed to acquire a basic job class after reaching level 10. Are you here to acquire your first job?" a beautiful female NPC walked toward them and said.

"Yes we are."

"You may enter."

Having reached level 10 meant that the player had gathered a total of at least 4,000 EXP. At present, Alan assumed that less than 5% of all players were able to achieve this while veterans most likely already got their job classes in their previous game.

Thus the lack of players in the building.

Following the friendly NPC's approval of their entrance, the two stepped into the job class shop.

The high ceilings inside reminded them of a cathedral. As they entered, six statues immediately caught their attention. Each of them represented the six acquirable basic jobs:

Warrior, Knight, Rogue, Soldier, Scholar, and Acolyte.

Although Alan already knew about the six basic jobs, he still checked them one by one before giving Nims a brief explanation.

Job classes could be classified into basic, advanced, and special. Players could acquire a job class at levels 10, 30, 50, 70, and 90, and they could choose to either upgrade their current job class to advanced or acquire a new, second one.

"So, what do you think? Does any of them catch your eye?" Alan asked the monk next to him.

At first, Nims couldn't decide between [Warrior] or [Knight]. However, after Alan explained to him further about the [Martial Artist] advanced job class, he decided to go for [Warrior].

As for Alan, knowing what the future had in store for them, he initially wished to take the [Acolyte] class. After all, it could be upgraded into [Light magician] or [Dark magician].

In his past life, the reason Alan was so powerful was that he managed to upgrade his advanced [Light Magician] class into [Psychic], a special class. Not only that, but he even unlocked a secret class with his second class [Knight].

[Psionic Knight], a wielder of laser saber and psychic magic.

To tell the truth, it would be quite beneficial for him to choose what he previously did, the class he knew most about. However, after weeks of consideration, his mind was fixated on a different job class, one that could greatly help him win the game.

Alan heaved a sigh before finalizing his choice, and after the two informed the NPC about their choices, she instructed them to enter a platform each.

Alan stepped into the platform he was pointed to, and a notification came to his bracelet.

[Choose Rogue as your job?]

"Yes."

[One D reward and 1500 Survival Points used]

Right after that notification popped up, the platform shone. An electric sensation soon tingled in his entire body for a few moments before finally, another notification came.

[Congratulation, You are now a Rogue.]

[Agility: D] +2 [D > D+ > C-]

[Perception: E] +1 [E > E+]

[You learned a new Active skill - Dash]

Alan felt much stronger and more refreshed when he stepped out of the platform and so was Nims.

Due to the new experience, the monk moved his body around a little as he stepped out of the platform. Looking at his expression, it was apparent that the monk liked the feeling.

"All right, Nims. If you enjoy it, we still have one more place to go."

"The skill shop?" Nims asked.

"Nope. It's an even more amazing place than this one."

This sentence immediately piqued the monk's interest, and he looked at Alan with curiosity.

After thanking the NPC, the two left the place and headed toward a different shop located on one of the smaller streets. Although it was colonial in design, the shop had a dark and gloomy feel to it, just as if its a haunted building.

When the monk saw the sign on the door, his steps momentarily halted from surprise.

[Bloodline Shop].
