《Re: Apocalypse Games (GAMELit)》024 - Medicated

"What about these cutout clothes?" Laura asked as she was still confused and had no idea of what those pieces of clothes could possibly be used for.
Alan didn't say a word and just checked on the dozens of washed-up clothes starting to dry up because of the heat.
Seconds later, he took out another unmarked item that he had taken from the lab, bottles of Antiseptic, and set them down on the table.
Two of his companions only looked at him without having a clue of what Alan was trying to do. But, on the other hand, when Laura saw those items, she finally came to a realization that made her mouth wide open.
"No way!!" She exclaimed in a surprised tone.
Alan kept his concentration on the task in front of him. He lightly poured the antiseptic on one of the clothes before rolling it into a nice, tight bundle.
[Your (Science - Novice) allows you to successfully create a common item]
[Name: Medicated Bandage]
[Type: Medicine]
[Rarity: Common]
[Attributes: Recovers 45 HP within 2 minutes]
[Effects: Suppresses Bleeding]
[Able to Bring Outside the Game: No]
[Remarks: It's smelly but effective]
[Shirt] as marked item + Alcohol + Antiseptics and rolled nicely to become another successful crafting product. This was the main reason Alan went to the hospital in the first place, not for the canned food, but for this product.
This particular bandage gives 50 percent more HP than the [Gauze Bandage]. Although it's 30 seconds longer, it still gave an overall 10% better recovery per second. Nevertheless, in a fighting situation, Alan might not have the time to stop and dress his wound, which was why a bandage-like this would be much more useful.
As a result, with these new bandages, Alan became much more confident to engage in a fight.

His companions could only watch him and were too amazed to utter a word. Meanwhile, Alan was the only one who could craft the item. Consequently, he once again started making more of them. From all 5 cut-outs [Shirts] he manages to create quite a lot of them.
[Medicated Bandage x 35]
It took him a couple of minutes to finish making all the bandages. Now that he had enough supplies, Alan put all the bandages into his bag, prompting the girl to say, "Hey.. What about my share?"
On the other hand, Alan answered firmly, "No, I really need this," leaving no room for discussion or negotiation.
In a way, these items would be non-existence if it wasnt for his [Science] skill. Besides, Alan had already kept his promise and found a solution for them to survive the round. Hence, he had no responsibility to share these items with anyone else.
The girl didn't pursue the matter any further and only gave a smile and asked, "So what are we doing next?"
Alan took a brief pause and then calmly said,
"You will help me in watching over these people and keeping them safe. Their safety concerns all of our grades now."
The girl looked at these one hundred survivors and said, "I am sure they will be fine. Luis can look after them.…" She looked at him and said, "Let me help you more."
Alan realized that the girl was smart enough to realize by now that following him would lead to more points. However, As what came next would be a dangerous one, he rejected the over.
"I am afraid I can't let you join. However, if you want a better mark, I suggest that you all can find other surrounding survivors to come to this place, it should be safe as long as you return before the 2 hours countdown."

After hearing this, Laura was stunned into silence. She narrowed her gaze, looked suspiciously at Alan, and said, "Tell me, Alan, how do you know all of this?"
Once again, Alan didn't explain and merely said, "I will be in the corner room. Don't enter whatever sound you heard later."
After saying this, Alan called on Nims and headed toward the other side of the Library, leaving Laura and Luis to their own tasks. Except for Smiley, who Alan still had his uses for.
"What do you want with me? Let Smiley go!"
Alan was finally annoyed that he casually stuffed a piece of cloth inside Smiley's mouth and dragged him to the next room.
It was a medium-size room with a few rows of books cabinets, and at the far end, there was just one huge window that separated them from the snow outside.
"This is the place. Let's get ready, Nims," said Alan.
This place was part of his plan, and Nims had already been briefed on what to do. Nims once again nodded as he understood the assignment.
Following that, the monk started to push the book rows left and right, leaving two lines of opening toward the huge window.
Alan on the other hand was sitting at the table, busy working on his special item.
[Broken Radio]
[Type: Quest Item]
The last time he received the item, he did not upgrade his [Science] to the novice. Hence, he was unable to fix it. However, after working on it for close to an hour, finally, the radio was successfully fixed.
[Your (Science - Novice) allows you to successfully fix the broken radio]
"Yes!" he exclaimed with joy as he finally did it.
Alan quickly called on Nims to hear the voice from the other end of the radio together, and a short while later, they received the same announcement.
[You have received a Hidden Quest]
[The government has lost contact with a certain VIP, you are required to find and save the VIP from any threats. Head toward the last known location at a designated time to activate the quest]
The voice on the radio gave out information about the location of the VIP, one that Alan has been expecting.
It was such a great opportunity; with this, Alan's path to get maximum reward from this round had now been opened.
However, before he starts the hidden quest, he still has one more obstacle that he ought to do.

Old Riding Author Lunatic Asylum
Just off the A19, in the dark, incomprehensible lands known as Yorkshire, there lies a town. A town where shadow-silent alleys glint with the secret hunger of knives. Where blood soaks the chipboard window shutters of forsaken terraces stretching off into the night. Where the smog-choked air rattles with the depraved laughter echoing out from clubs that can only generously be described as post-apocalyptic. Well, that’s Middlesbrough. But down the A19 a bit (an impossibly long way down, actually) there lies another town: Raughnen, in the ancient, forgotten Old Riding. It is an equal match in muggery and thuggery alike. It also has magic spells and pointy wizard hats. And now, across the miles and across all sensibilities, a pretty nasty power (a magic one) calls out for its pretty nasty counterpart (a decidedly unmagic one): a proper sound Boro lad. Nothing good can come of it. This is a collection of one novella and four connected short stories: I. A Yorkshire Summoning II. Old Riding Day Trip (the novella) III. Heaven is a Parmo IV. Death on the 66 V. Death on the 257 In total, this comprises 34 chapters totalling around 35,000 words, so try not to worry. It will be over relatively quickly. There are three more short stories with more tenuous links to the core collection: Rush, Paper Round and Scenario 79: Sausage Fingers, all of which can be found in my collection Short Records of Misadventure. Reading these may allow you to make more sense of certain parts of the story, if any sense is to be made at all. NOTE: There are instances of prejudice and discrimination within these stories, including elements of sexism and ageism, which are purely the thoughts and actions of the characters involved and which certainly do not reflect my own views on these matters. ANOTHER NOTE; A WARNING, PERHAPS: This can get a bit weird. In less than 150 pages, we have four viewpoints, first and third person narratives, and a completely disjointed plot with lots of gaps, dead ends and no real resolution. Also ZERO lunatic asylums. It's all a bit odd. If that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea, which it most likely isn't, it might be best to move on now.
