I guess I'll have a look at it after school.

The bell rang, signalling the end of the day.

On my way back to the dorm I saw Aiko again, this time she was talking to some other boys. It seemed she was trying to gain favour with everyone. I walked down the long footpath towards the dormitory building.

Nothing substantial happened on my way back.

I opened my phone as I sat down on my bed. I wanted to check what the Preseqta app was about. When I opened the app, it provided me with two options: Special Exam, Aptitudes. When I clicked on the Special Exam tab, it showed me nothing but a blank page.

However, the aptitudes tab provided me with more options. I had the ability to sort by class or by name. I clicked on my roommate's name.

Only one aptitude appeared to be released aside from the overall score. All of the aptitudes seemed to be pretty self-explanatory aside from Spatial Awareness. The one aptitude that was released was Cooperative Reliability which I assume roughly translates to how trustworthy they are.

I was rather surprised by the low score on Haruto, especially seeing how normal he seemed. It felt weird that his Cooperative Reliability ranking was so low. What was even more interesting was how his overall score seemed to be quite high, which meant some of his other aptitudes must be quite high to contrast with his low cooperativeness.

I decided to search up the one other person I had met.

She had a much higher Cooperative Reliability in comparison but a much lower overall score. It also appeared that your letter grade for your overall score was the same as the class you were in based on what I've seen—so that was somewhat interesting.

I wanted to see Chia's aptitudes but we were unable to look at the aptitudes of the second and third-years at this point.

Suddenly, my phone beeped again as notification popped up at the top of the screen. I pressed on it revealing an email—this time, it wasn't from the school.

To: 1-E

From: Kai Furukawa

We are having a party at the arcade today for Akane at 6:00pm.

We will meet at the entrance of the arcade near the bench. Remember to bring a gift! Points are fine if you can't think of anything.

See you there!

-

It was an invitation to a birthday party—hooray! Except for some reason it seemed like the people who are running it may have ulterior motives. People don't usually emphasise the gift-bringing part in a birthday party invitation right?

Well I wasn't obligated to go, but I think getting to know some of the people from 1-E would be helpful in the future. It wasn't like I had anything else to do today.

I changed into the only set of casual clothes I had and made my way outside once again. I walked along the well-kept concrete path. I still had around forty minutes before the party so I decided to go into the mall to look for a gift. The walk from the dormitory building to the mall was around five minutes so I took a nice breather of fresh air on the way.

Eventually, I was greeted by the automatic sliding doors of the mall. There were quite a lot of students inside already. There were quite a large variety of store and most students were already changed into casual clothes as well. I was looking for a gift for a girl but I didn't really want to enter any of the stores which sold girls' goods.

I had no idea what she'd want so I had no idea what to get. In the end, I decided to just a large bar of dark chocolate and some wrapping paper. Hopefully she wouldn't open it until she went home so she wouldn't judge my gift-giving ability.

The total came to 460 points for the chocolate and the wrapping paper—I was still trying being conscious of my point expenditure.

Afterwards, I walked to the library to wrap the budget gift that I had brought. By that time it was 5:45pm and I began walking towards the arcade which was inside the mall.

**

After looking around for a little bit, I managed to get to the designated meeting spot five minutes before the scheduled time. There were around fifteen other students gathered beside the bench.

'Are you here for Akane's birthday party?' Asked a boy.

'Yeah.'

'Great! Do you have a gift with you?'

'Yes,' I handed him the gift.

He seemed a little disappointed upon seeing my gift but took it anyways and put it into a pile. I noticed that the pile only had about four gifts. The boy left to collect gifts from other people.

I managed to overhear a conversation about how some other people didn't buy a gift so they just gave points instead.

After a few minutes, everyone entered the arcade together. I just assimilated myself within the movement of the group and followed the people in front. We all lined up to buy tickets, which were loaded onto cards, to play the games. It appeared that everyone was buying their own tickets so I decided to buy some too.

After contemplating for a little while, I decided to only to buy 200 points worth of tickets, which was enough to play one or two games. Some of the others in the class were spending upwards of 8000 points to buy tickets which was quite a hefty sum.

Throughout the night, I mostly watched as other people played games. I had a few chats here and there with some of the other boys—however most of the conversations were short-lived due to my lack of knowledge on video games and pop culture.

Whilst I was playing a ball dropping game which cost half of the tickets that I had purchased, Aiko approached me and started talking with me.

'How's the night been?' She asked.

'It's been alright.' I was still half-concentrating on the ball dropping game.

'I noticed that you didn't buy very many tickets, are you running low on points?'

'Yeah, I guess you could say that.' I wasn't exactly 'running low' but I couldn't really be bothered explaining.

'You want to play air hockey with me? It's on me.' She offered.

'Sure.' The ball dropping game had just about finished anyways.

We walked over to the air hockey game and she tapped her card on the side. We continued talking as we played the game.

'So what have you spent all your points on?' She asked.

'Just getting food and some stuff here and there.'

'Ah, I've spent a lot on food as well and some on clothing.'

The conversation died down a little as we both concentrated harder on the match. After a few minutes, I came out victorious with a final score of 4-7.

'Ah, you're good, that was fun.'

'Yeah.'

After that, she walked off to talk with some of the others. I looked around and noticed that there was a big group of people gathered around Akane. She was playing some racing game with a brown-haired boy who I assumed was Kai based on how close they were.

I decided not to join the group. I still had one more game worth of points so I wandered around the arcade away from the group to see how I'd spend it.

'They're annoying aren't they?' Some boy wearing glasses was talking to me from behind.

'Huh?'

'I'm Yuuto, I'm in the same class as you.'

'Oh, hi, I'm Rin.'

'I was getting annoyed by all their shouting and screaming, you want to go play the bowling with me?'

'I don't really like bowling.' I actually just didn't have enough points left to play the game, not that I really wanted to play it in the first place.

'Oh, is there anything you want to play?'

'I guess I'll try that football game over there.' I said.

'Alright, I'll join you but I'm not very good at sports.'

We walked over and played the football game. It was very crudely made, there was like some rubber covering with a ball behind and you had to shoot the ball past the goalkeeper which was just a rotating cardboard cut-out. It was quite annoying the kick past the elastic cover but other than that it was quite an easy game.

'Holy crap, how are you so good at that game?' He commented

'I liked to play football when I was younger.'

'Even so, that's insane.'

'Well that's all my tickets for today.'

'Oh, you're out? I still have quite a few left, where are you going now?'

'Probably to the library.' I replied.

'Haha, you're just like me, well I want to finish up the rest of my tickets but message me in the future and we can hang out.'

I left the arcade and walked towards the library.
