《Reid Ghealach - Pack》Chapter 13.

As we walked away though, Sina suddenly caught up with us, leaving Trystan alone and glaring at us.

I raised an eyebrow, confused. “I just wanted to say, he’s not heartless. He’s just impulsive and stupid but he’s not heartless and what you’re doing to him right now is cruel. He went through years of hating himself. Don’t make him go through it again.” She didn’t even have to say his name. It was obvious she was talking about Hiro. Years of hating himself, hm? Could’ve at least said he was sorry then. In the end, I was the one who suffered the most.

But it wouldn’t be a good idea to anger the future queen. “Yeah fine.” I nodded. Yuri left his hand on my shoulder as we walked back to the house.

“I told you, you were being too cruel with Hiro,” Yuri commented as we got away from the music and chattering of the festival.

“Don’t say it like he’s never done anything wrong,” I grunted. They acted like I was the bad guy here.

Yuri didn’t say anything just kept walking. It was Hiro who destroyed everything. I really liked him, I wanted to be with him. But he was shy and unsure and scared of anyone finding out so after a few months of making out in secret places together he told me we were over. He told me this was wrong, that we couldn’t do this anymore. It broke my damn heart, but I wasn’t going to force him. So I found myself an easy guy who was passing through the city, working a part-time job as a clerk. A perfect opportunity for a distraction. But Hiro saw us kiss and went to tell everyone about me. How the hell did I come out as the bad guy out of this?

“So… home?” Yuri asked after a long pause of us walking silently through the snow.

I was about to nod, but then stopped myself. If Bran handled all information on vampires he might have some things written down in his room. “No, back to the pack house, I need to check something…” Though I really, really didn’t want to. Both because Father might be there and because the place I wanted to check out bore too many memories.

As we got close to the pack house though, a loud roar sounded behind it, followed by Nadia shouting: “No! Stop it!” With terror in her voice.

Without thinking, both me and Yuri shot around the house, ready for an attack. When we rounded the corner though, we found Jack and Marc locked in a fight, growling and tearing into each other. Nadia stood by, tears on her cheeks and screaming at them to stop. Next to her stood Colwyn, staring wide-eyed at the two wolves obviously in shock.

The snow under them was already bloody. Fuck they were actually trying to kill each other. There was only one reason for this kind of life and death battle I could think of. A mating right. Fucking hell Nadia… Yuri roared and tried to rush to them but I quickly grabbed his arm and pulled him back. He shot me a disapproving look.

“Stop it, Yuri. Those are two werewolf males fighting over a mate. You get between them and they’ll kill you.” I turned to Nadia and forcefully made her look at me. She was shaking, reeking of fear, her eyes wide and filled with tears. “What happened? Tell me.” She kept trying to look at the fight but I shook her shoulders growling out: “Nadia!”

“Marc… He saw Jack kiss me and he attacked him,” she whispered, sniffling. “Make them stop, please, please…” I gently pushed her into Yuri’s arms and she held on, sobbing into his shoulder effectively stopping him from joining the fight.

Alright. So, Marc was the attacker, which made sense since Jack wasn’t much of a fighter. He was probably just defending himself and not too well. Jack’s side was covered in blood and a huge gash decorated his face. Damn it the guy just healed from the cadrac attack. Marc’s arm was slashed open aswell though so I guessed there was some fight in Jack after all. But he wasn’t as dominant, wasn’t as aggressive, and probably knew very well he didn’t stand a chance.

So I sorely needed to calm down Marc. Jack might not even want to fight if Marc stopped. I moved around the fighting wolves to get behind Marc. Damn, their bones were starting to shift into wolf form. I needed to stop them before they shifted. It was easier for wolves to kill each than for humans. I got behind Marc and as Jack slashed his clawed hand at him and Marc backed away I kicked his foot from under him. He fell on his back, growling in confusion. Of course, when Jack saw his enemy lying on his back he tried to go for the killing strike. Sorry, Jack, I thought as I kicked at his open stomach full force making him fall down and convulse in pain, clutching at his stomach. That should keep him down for a second.

The crunching of snow told me Marc wasn’t as easy to put down as Jack. I rolled away as he tried to punch me. He didn’t care about me though, he just got me out of the way to go for Jack. Idiot. Blinded by his rage and jealousy he let me sneak behind his back easily for the second time. This time I grabbed him around the chest, holding his hands to his body in a bear hug.

Marc jerked around, growling wildly as he tried to get to Jack. I pushed my fingers into the wound on his arm, getting his attention. “That’s enough Marc, you fucking coward. Attacking Jack while he’s still recovering. Don’t believe you can beat him at full strength?” Oh, he didn’t like that. Shit. I threw him to the ground, stomach down, and held his hands behind his back, pushing my knee between his shoulder blades.

“I’m going to fucking kill him! Nadia’s mine! Mine!” he roared, spit flying from his mouth together with blood. Either Jack managed to punch him or he was so angry he bit his tongue.

“Idiot! Do you really think Nadia could possibly be with you if you killed Jack? Come on! Have you really succumbed to your rage so much that the faggot loner has to explain to you how girls work?” I said, trying to turn his jealous rage into simple anger and hatred towards me. That was easier to control than the wolf’s need to fight for a mate. He roared his disapproval against me, almost kicking me off his back. Fuck he was strong. “Just keep fighting. You’re making me look like the hero in everyone’s eyes right now.”
