《Legacy of Earth》Chapter 24 – On the Run

Things could have been worse for them, for one they would have been shot down in the middle of Luna or they could be hunted down as the known Galaxy's biggest war criminals.
Oh, wait.
"Naga, ReZio-L.A.M.I.A. launching!" Alon said as he and Marina flew out of the Luna Sea II as they were making their way into the Jupiter Trojans as they had been intercepted by Inferno Wing which had been promoted from a Militia to a Counter Terrorist Organization publicly supported by both sides.
So here they were fleeing an armed Militia that is paid to hunt them down after being branded as a scapegoat for potentially assassinating a high-ranking religious figure, and they are now facing off Inferno Wing for the seventh time this month since the supposed Assassination which had been a month ago.
The ReZio-L.A.M.I.A. flew alongside a Raider as they took turns shooting down or disabling other Mechs and Fighters but the ReZio-L.A.M.I.A. was faster as they flew towards the first Ronin they run into and impaled it with the Gun-Blade and then aimed it's Vulcan Gun towards an oncoming Knights taking down two at the same time.
Alon turned to find an incoming pair of Fighters chasing after the Raider that was accompanying them, he let go of the Gunblade and then aimed his arm-mounted Vulcans and shot down the two fighters allowing the Raider to speed up and shoot down several more Fighters and blinding Mechs by shooting them at their optics.
Eventually, a withdrawal signal was fired causing all mechs and fighters present to fall back into their respective warships. Alon let out a sigh of relief as he slumped back to his seat as his eyes gaze back on the Raider that flew past them.
"Mom and Dad are a good team," Marina said, there was a clear hint of awe in her voice.
"They're a danger to themselves," Alon replied coldly as they returned to the Luna Sea II.
At first glance it would look as though they are still handling well despite months of being on the run from a Paramilitary Organization funded by the two major powers of the known galaxy, as a result, they were slowly running out of their resources.
"Operator Naga please report to the bridge." The Intercom rang out.
"I'll talk to you later," Alon said taking off his helmet and making his way towards the elevator leading towards the bridge. While on the bridge Tsuna and Dain were already debating their next move while Ars and Hayato were discussing where to go.
"What's our next move?" Alon asked as he walked towards Dain and Tsuna.

"I've arranged a handful of transport ships for everyone on board to prepare an escape for Enceladus on Saturn," Hayato explained showing them a holographic projection of a massive base compound located on the icy moon.
"Does the Titanites know of this?" Dain asked, the Kingdom of Titan was a small independent nation located on the Moon of Titan led by exiles Mars and Jupiter. One could say that this planet is essentially a Prison Colony for both Sovereign and Principality criminals.
"So are we going to just run?" Alon spoke up causing all of them to look at him. "Are we just gonna go into hiding until this all blows over or are we going to find another way?"
"We're not running away Naga," Hayato said visibly hurt from Alon's accusation, but it was somewhat understandable because after all that talk they'll just begin to run away from the fighting now that both sides are working together to take them down. Even Dain and Tsuna are visibly surprised that Hayato's plan is essentially running away and hiding in Enceladus.
"Circumstances are grave yes but we will still keep fighting," Hayato said addressing the massive issue on his plan. "But the only way to do this is to temporarily go into hiding until we can recover. And on Enceladus, there's a base I had built long ago with equipment and resources for all of us to begin operations again there."
He walked towards the star map which shows the fleet which consisted of the Luna Sea II, Reckoning, Sunrise, and Kusanagi all of which are heavily damaged from the continued attacks over the last few months.
"Right now the Luna Sea will remain while the crew of the Reckoning, Sunrise and Kusanagi would evacuate and board their transports." He said showing the four ships in the centre of the Jupiter Trojans. "We'll be using the asteroids as barricades to help slow their advance and buying more time for the stealth transports to head out."
Alon was about to ask once more but the proximity alarms had begun to blare out indicating that the Inferno Wing is coming. He took a deep breath and Hayato began to let out commands to prepare as the ships begin to make their way toward the Jupiter Trojans.
"You alright?" He turned to find his father who was busy eating a ration with Marina and their mother.
"Yeah." Alon nodded he drummed his fingers on his helmet and turned towards the three with a deep breath. "Can you three join the—"
"No Alon," His Father said setting aside his ration and handing an energy bar to Alon. "We're not going to let you take them on your own."

"I'm sorry but I refuse," Alon said putting on his helmet in anger. He was fighting so they can be safe, they were already crossing a line knowing that Marina and their parents are pilots and now they want to stay and help inside a suicide defence? Alon had not been able to get some sleep, he's exhausted from continuous sorties the last few months, it had become evident with the dark circles around his eyes.
Alon walked away without bothering to look for a reaction from his father, the sooner he's out there the sooner his family can evacuate out of this sinking ship.
[Legacy of Earth]
Morale had begun to drop since the Summit with many even wondering if they were on the same side. As a result, many pilots were no longer as enthusiastic as they once were when they go out and sortie into the battle. The casualties that were beginning to rise once Inferno Wing had begun to be better at hunting them.
This lack of morale had gotten so bad that many Pilots who were too terrified to fight began to opt to instead choose to go with the evacuations instead.
"So it's just me and a handful of fighters huh," Alon said as he hopped into the cockpit while Marina entered the L.A.M.I.A. cockpit visibly concerned from his earlier outburst. "Let's get this over with so I can get some rest already."
and with that Alon and Marina had finally sortied out of the Luna Sea II and into the Trojans which were filled with asteroids. On one hand, their advance is slowed down and they can cover the larger asteroid. On the other hand, Alon can prevent any high-speed attacks and can't pull off any manoeuvres.
"Corners are a little tight, hang on this could get a little rough," Alon told Marina as he manoeuvred his way through the field and began to fire back at the incoming Knights and Kataphracts from the Inferno Wing as they were not fitted with upgrades.
There's a lot more of them than I thought, Alon thought as he took a hard left, the turn nearly threw him off his seat as he slowed down. He fired yet another shot from his gunblade and continued to carefully dodge the incoming asteroids.
"Heads up!"
Alon turned to find their Parent's Raider flying towards them and shooting blinding the Mechs that were flying into the line of fire of their Raider. Nice shot—! Alon's thoughts were interrupted by a proximity alarm, he turned to find the Zio-N rushing towards them.
"You again," Alon shouted in annoyance backing away from the Zio-N, this time it was heavily upgraded just like Alon's ReZio. The Zio-N is now powered with a Solar Furnace based on the gold lights on certain areas in the chest, while it still has the Kinetic Katanas as handheld weapons the Zio-N is now armed with a buster rifle the same one that Tsuna's Ame-no as well as a pair of shoulder-mounted cannons.
"Glad to see you're still alive!" Liyab said as he began firing his Buster Rifle at Alon to which he retaliated by firing his Vulcan Rifle, but the two projectiles met the blast directly cancelled each other out causing a blast that send both Mechs back as well as demolishing a handful of Asteroids in the process. "It's unfortunate that your superiors chose to assassination to force your ideas."
"No use arguing with this moron," Marina complained as she aimed at the waist-mounted cannons and began firing at them. "Yeah, he talks a lot," Alon replied as he ran out of ammo for the Gunblade and then eventually relied on the very blade itself. "Hold on!" Just as Alon was about to close the gap and slash between them, Liyab quickly fired a Solar powered round at Alon sending them crashing on a nearby Asteroid.
"Marina!" Alon cried worriedly as he gently flew away and attempted to get away from Liyab now that he had run out of ammunition with nothing but his beam sabres, katars and the blade to rely upon as weapons.
"I'm fine the reinforced plating managed to take the brunt of the impact!" Marina replied though her communication line was slowly getting garbled. "Dammit." Alon cursed under his breath and began to resort to using the Vulcans on his arms as he tried to slow down Liyab's advances and fortunately he was able to create a sizable gap between them and allowing Alon to escape the ship and—
"No! Stay away!"
He heard Marina cry out in fear as he turned as his blood ran cold to the sight of his parent's Raider, which was visibly damaged, began to fire its missiles at Liyab's Zio-N but before Alon can get there and use the defences of the ReZio, Liyab aimed the Buster rifle at their Parent's Raider was shot down and hitting the engine and sending it crashing on a nearby asteroid in an explosion.
"No…." Alon slumped behind his seat as he heard Marina begin sobbing in shock. "No!"
