《Legacy of Earth》Chapter 7 – An Improvised Heist

They were being watched, Alon can feel it even if he was just a rookie operator. Even from the stares of the Ancients which were just pure curiosity, he can feel the dangerous intent behind it.
I wonder if they can feel the same thing or I am just paranoid and tense, Alon wondered to himself as they jogged up the hill to the rendezvous point of their contact. Then again Alon concluded that the two were experienced to detect it but chose not to bring it up and decided to go on.
"We're almost there we'll be linking up to the Sisters of Peace, a faction that wants Venus to remain neutral within the Sovereign-Principality War," Dain said told them. "But I have been informed that the Wild Hunt is nearby."
"I'm guessing the Sisters of Peace are the ones that won't shoot us on sight," Alon commented as they jogged along the hillside as passed by more Ancients who looked on at them.
"Nope they will gladly shoot both of us on sight," Tsuna explained while looking onwards. "I see the Sisters do we have a call sign?"
"Yeah, it's Mercy," Dain answered as they saw a large group of women in Military Combat equipment. "They don't look Pacifists to me," Alon whispered as Tsuna shushed him.
While on the surface Matriarchy looks like a verdant peaceful paradise but internally they are divided as the Sovereign-Principality war rages on and each planet is given the choice of whether to side with the Sovereign or the Principality. And that is no different from the Matriarchy as two major factions that dominate their politics, the Sisters of Peace who chose to remain neutral in the entire conflict and the Wild Hunt who see the war as a chance for the planet to show that they are as strong as the Sovereign and the Principality and that by choosing a stance in the war they can show their true strength.
"Tranquility!" One of the Sisters of Peace said creating a gesture with her hand.
"Mercy," Dain answered raising his hand and imitating the same gesture from earlier.
"I'm glad to see your operation over the Orbit of Mars didn't result in your deaths." The Sister of Peace told him. "That aside we need your help, if you managed to help us then the Sisters will be funding your operations."
"That depends what do you want us to do?" Dain said the Sister of Peace chuckled under her helmet and shook her head as though she was amused. "You think you have any power to negotiate in terms of help?" She said as she pulled out a pistol, Alon tensed up but he tried his best not to show it, unfortunately, his fears worsened as they were surrounded by more Sisters of Peace aiming their rifles and Power-Spears at them.
"What do you think a filthy and pathetic male like you is capable of stopping us from killing you three?" She continued as Alon and Tsuna pulled out their guns and aimed at the soldiers.
"Careful, we may be small in number but we're thrice as valuable as your squad." Dain bluffed in a low voice, he was calm but he was seething. It was clear that what is going on was an obvious betrayal on their part.

The Sister was silent she then aimed her gun at—
Bang!
Alon fell to the ground as a bullet pierced his left leg causing him to kneel on the ground in pain, Tsuna and Dain immediately pulled out their sabres and the next thing Alon saw was a flurry of bright lights and cries of pain by the Sisters who tried their best to put up a fight against them
So I need to be that good to be able to use a Saber, Alon thought as he pulled out a gun and tried to shoot a sister. But with the speed at which Tsuna and Dain were facing the sisters, he was more afraid of friendly fire instead.
Useless as usual, Alon thought struggling to stand up and then proceeded to shoot one Sister who saw him as too weak to fight back but he reached for his rifle and opened fire. Unlike the rifles his farm used to own, this one managed to penetrate the Sister's armour after the fourth shot causing her to fall to the ground with a groan.
But as they fought off more of the Sisters, they were taken by surprise as a Male wearing a Wild Hunt variant of the armour used by the Sisters of Peace armour ran into the fray and began shooting down the remaining Sisters of Peace this caused both Tsuna and Dain to be on guard of the Male Soldier that arrived.
The Soldier was silent as he slowly put down his guns and rifles to the ground while raising his hands in front of them as a clear sign of him showing no sign of hostility and slowly took off his helmet revealing a young man with light blond hair and dark brown eyes.
The Young Man reminded Alon of a younger Hayato but with blond hair instead, Alon concluded as he struggled to get up and raise his gun at the Wild Hunt Soldier.
"Forgive me, I was supposed to be the one to make contact but I was intercepted by the Sisters of Peace and—"
Bang!
"Naga!" Both Tsuna and Dain looked at Alon with horror as the Young man dodged to the ground as avoided a shot meant to shoot him in the head. "For all, we know this is just a trap made by Wild Hunt!" Alon defended, considering that the earlier contact was a trap meant to kill them it was understandable for Alon to try and defend themselves before anything can escalate.
"That may be true but at least let him explain his side," Dain said helping the young man up who was more surprised at Alon's attempt to kill him.
"I understand why he would be on guard, it was us the Wild Hunt was supposed to ask for your help but unfortunately we made a mistake of using an open line allowing the Sisters of Peace to intercept those calls and instead pretend to be us as to contact you three." He continued. "Please allow me to explain everything first for you all to understand the situation at hand."
As it turns out, everything they know about the internal conflict was a lie. As it turns out the Sisters of Peace were tipped by both the Sovereign and the Principality to stay away from the affairs of Mars and Jupiter they alone have the technology to interfere and can change the course of the War. Meanwhile, a small faction known as the Wild Hunt began to operate clandestine operations throughout the known galaxy such as liberating concentration camps and providing humanitarian aid to many worlds and colonies that were caught in the war.

But due to the limited information that can spread out in this time of War, the Sisters of Peace were able to manipulate it to their advantage using their Neutralist stance as an excuse to stay away from the war and paint the Wild Hunt as a Pro-War faction that holds no regard to the future of the Planet.
"—and they're wrong if we chose to remain neutral then we'll be viewed as neglectful and will be ignored as the world around us continues to change, and by actively going out and providing a humanitarian effort we can adapt through the change without war." The Young man, named Ars, explained to them as Dain helped Alon recover from his wounds as they continued to discuss the events.
"What about the Prime Matriarch's say in all of this?" Dain asked referring to the Erys Zuhayir the Current Matriarch, as the title of Matriarch is an Elective matter and every few years a new one would be selected from the various Houses that make up the upper echelons of the Planet.
"She condemns the actions of the Sisters but she cannot actively go against them as it is an act of tyranny," Ars explained further shaking his head in disappointment. "Which is why I tried my best to reach out to Memento Mori hoping you people can help out."
"That's great and all that but what makes you think we'll be willing to help you out?" Tsuna spoke up to Dain's surprise.
"Please! I ask for your help!"Ars pleaded as he went on his knees and begged before them. "They claim that they act for the best interest but it is clear they are just going to destroy the Nation from the inside and it is clear that the Matriarch and her followers cannot prevent any further incident."
[Legacy of Earth]
Ars led them into a large military facility that was being held by the Sisters of Peace as he explained to them that the Sisters of Peace were secretly building customized Mechs that are being sold to both sides at an inflated price.
"If these Mechs were to be sold into one of the two sides then it's only a matter of time that the Matriarchy would begin taking a militarist stance," Ars explained as they hid by the bushes and watched from afar as dozens of military vehicles enter in an out of the facility.
"How many have they made so far?" Alon asked as he zoomed in on the facility and only saw one Mech that was being developed.
"One but it's meant to be the first Venusian-made Mech that would utilize transformable frames system since the age of Terra," Ars explained causing Dain and Tsuna to exchange looks.
"We need that mech," Tsuna said through the communications to prevent Ars to hear if they managed to get their hands on a Mech that can utilize a Transformable frame then it can go a long way in their operations. "So what do you want us to do with it then?" Dain asked Ars as they continued to observe the routes that enter and exit the facility.
"They're technically under Sisters of Peace property, it can deal a large blow to their ego if they found out someone stole from them and used it against them," Ars said nodding at the Mech that was being developed.
"Works for us, if you don't mind starting a mess in there right?" Dain said loading his gun that he grabbed from one of the dead sisters after dropping his original from earlier. "Weapons free," Ars said reloading his twin pistols as they hopped down the cliffside as Alon and Tsuna stealthily killed the two guards hiding nearby by dropping behind them and stabbing them in the neck.
"How's your leg Naga?" Tsuna asked as they snuck on the sides while Dain and Ars pushed on the eastern side. "Helped a lot thanks to those shots," Alon answered referring to the Nanite Spray that temporarily mends the wounds but they have to be careful to not use too much as they are highly addictive.
From the distance, they immediately heard gunfire and explosions as the facility went on full alert, as initially planned by both Ars and Dain. The two alongside a handful of Wild Hunt Soldiers would raid the facility as a distraction while Alon and Tsuna would head inside and try their best in sabotaging and stealing any possible information found.
The plan was simple, they would steal the mech and any information about it and then escape. It doesn't matter which among the three ends up piloting it, the important thing is that they need to escape with both the plans and the mechs.
"What about the Wild Hunt?" Alon asked Tsuna as they snuck inside and they both silently took out the remaining guards that were left to keep an eye on the entrances.
"Dain negotiated that if they help them steal the Mech and the plans they'll work with Wild Hunt in hindering any operations made by the Sisters in this area," Tsuna explained as they took out two more guards were taken out as they entered a massive hangar housing a Mech that was now in development.
"Is that it?" Alon said as Tsuna tossed him the plans as they activated the hangar doors while Tsuna climbed onto the Mech as Alon read through it. The name of the Mech was called the Z-13 Zio, a Next-Generation Prototype that combines both the Kataphracts and the Principality's Knights making it much superior even as a single unit.
Bang!
Alon instinctively rolled to the side as he returned fire as the Sisters began pouring into the hangar as they heard the alarms of the Hangar being opened.
