《Legacy of Earth》Chapter 6 – The Great Garden

Weeks have gone by and Alon have gotten used to his life at Memento Mori and that every hour isn't filled with combat which for the most part was good but that doesn't mean his schedule isn't hectic.
In the mornings he and Marina would be at the hangar running maintenance work towards the Mechs and other vehicles by Wu who teaches them to make sure that they need to learn how to maintain them when they aren't as a precaution in case they crash land away from them.
This would then be followed by morning training under Tsuna who would put him through the wringer through combat training, this leaves Alon bruised in multiple places and suffering from body pains afterwards, and then followed by firearms training by Henri who is revealed to be the daughter of Rachel Weissman making his constant ogling of her mother all the more awkward leading to a lecture from her and Marina.
Which in hindsight made much sense as to why she looked like a long-haired version of Rachel.
And then afterwards he would return to the hangar for simulations within their Mechs to help them further improve their piloting skills where Dain would run him through various scenarios such as attacking and defending a ship, to fighting in orbit while making sure not to get pulled by the Planet's gravity. As both he and Marina would do their duties, their parents help out by doing cleaning and cooking alongside the maintenance crew.
"So where are we heading?" Alon asked Tsuna as the two of them sat on the dojo while he used an ice pack on one of his bruises.
"I heard we're heading for the Istarian Matriarchy on Venus, we're restocking on some supplies and meeting up with an informant who'll give us leads on a possible next operation," Tsuna said as he helped him up and made their way into the bridge. As Operators they have to be informed on what will be their operations ahead of time to prepare, this includes being present during meetings with the other high ranking members of the Memento Mori.
Wait Istarian Matriarchy?! Alon thought as his eyes widened in surprise. He had heard about the Matriarchy, and how they are filled with beautiful women and the idea made Alon excited hoping he'll meet some attractive women there.
"Yeah I get what you mean, I'm just as excited as you are." Tsuna grinned excitedly. "I've been there and it's a guy paradise, it helps that they managed to maintain their youth despite being in their fifties."
Thanks to the ship's access to a vast archive of information Alon was able to learn a lot about the Matriarchy and that one of the greatest contributions that the Istarians had to the Galaxy as a whole was through medical innovations, they were able to develop medicines and cybernetics that managed to push human life expectancy past hundreds while at the same time maintaining their youthful looks, especially since Humanity managed to finally end menopause in the Golden Age of Terra.

"Ugh, you two are just horny."
The Two turned to find Henri leaning with her arms crossed as she looked the two. It was through Alon's study he had learned that she and her mother are native Istarians which is evident in the fact that her mother is already in her forties and yet looks like she is still a spring chicken.
"I mean I don't know about Tsuna but where I live there aren't many beautiful women so naturally, I'm excited to meet them in general." Alon sheepishly explained as she gave him an amused eye roll.
"Yeah, I can tell from the way you look at my mother, though I feel like your sister would be upset about that."
"We're not—"
"That reminds me, you two alongside Fenrir are called at the bridge to meet with Sumeragi," Henri told them as she left the Dojo right after much to his and Tsuna's chagrin. "Hear that Naga? Looks like you're gonna finally try your first Mission." Tsuna said excitedly as Alon followed after him as he was holding back his smile.
My first Mission! Alon thought excitedly, while Dain discouraged Alon for being that optimistic as it tends to get Operators, especially rookies like Alon killed. In fact, despite being an operator, Alon was still a rookie in what form whatsoever. His firearms training? That of an average rookie where out of ten shots he's able to get seven to hit the mark. His close-quarters combat? He's as good as a drunken brawler. Piloting skills? Reckless.
It was clear that Alon, he needs to be careful on his first mission as an Operator as they aren't just Pilots, they are also the main force. This is why many within the Memento Mori teams are concerned as to why Alon, a farmhand with minimal knowledge in Piloting with the only thing significant about him is his Gestalt Adapter on his back, is given such a position when he should at best be given the position of being a Trooper. However, for his lack of experience, he makes up for his adaptability as he is quick to learn in terms of combat and piloting as such this will be his first deployment not as Alon Akunawa but as Naga a member of Memento Mori.
"Fits just right," Dain told him as Alon finally put on his combat armour. A highly modified Armored jumpsuit with additional armour plating allowing him to fight both inside and outside Mechs.
"Nervous?" He asked as he handed him a Rifle while he loaded his gun, while he and Tsuna have their Sabers they would still carry their own set of firearms.
"A little bit," Alon said as he checked the safety and how much ammunition he will be carrying for the mission.
The mission was clear and simple as the three of them, accompanied by Henri under the Code name of Ophelia who is piloting a Shuttle, to head down to the surface and meet an influential Politician who was willing to fund and support them but only after a favour is done. If they succeed then not only they can get proper funding but additional manpower for future operations.

"Remember last time when I said 'don't be a hero?" Dain asked as he finished loading his gun with a satisfying click! "Take it seriously this time."
"I promise I will this time." Alon nodded, embarrassed from the last time which had nearly gotten him killed. The fact that he and his family should have been killed for such reckless actions is almost a miracle, but he decided to brush it off as just the organization being desperate for additional crew. "And make sure to keep your helmet on at times," Tsuna walked towards him smiling as he handed him a helmet and as he did so, a heads up display immediately booted showing his vitals as well as identifying Tsuna and Dain with their respective code names.
"Last time we had a rookie, he made the dumb decision to take it off for a brief moment causing an enemy to blow his brains out," Tsuna explained to him as he patted Alon on the helmet. "But other than that just follow our lead and don't do anything heroic alright."
"Yes sir." Alon nodded as the three of them left the Armory and made their way to the hangar to find Henri preparing the Shuttle for transport. The Shuttle used was a commercial type often reserved for rich people for interplanetary travel, however, with the Sovereign-Principality war raging on, the sale of such ships was currently discontinued to prevent the company from being held liable for any civilians getting caught in the crossfire. The only difference is that this one is heavily modified not only for troop transport but for dogfighting as well.
"That reminds me," Alon wondered aloud as they entered the Shuttle. "Where do we get these, are these donated by the members or bought under the Memento Mori's budget?"
"They're my family's shuttle," Dain explained to him as they sat down inside. "But Henri and Wu modified the Ship into what it is today."
"Though the Pilot worries me at times." He said in a louder voice this time through the communications causing Henri, who looked at him with an amused smirk as if she expected he would make such comments and proceeded to raise her middle finger at him causing Alon, Dain and Tsuna to share a laugh on her reaction.
[Legacy of Earth]
Venus, like with the rest of the planets alongside the Mars and the Galilean Moons of Jupiter has been terra-formed in the Golden Age of Terra making the once inhospitable world into a lush and vibrant garden world earning the nickname of The Great Garden, which is especially telling when contrasted to the other planets.
The skies of Venus are dark as it was raining that day, this caused Alon to hear the raindrops outside the shuttle as they flew in. According to Henri and Tsuna, the shuttle was fitted with a hacking device that renders them undetectable at best or a rogue smuggling shuttle at worst and so they don't have to worry about getting shot down by the Military.
"According to the Lighthouse—" Dain explained referring to Hayato and his network of contacts. "—that our Contact is meeting up with the Hestian Gardens south of the Landing Zone, I'll be doing most of the talking to see if we can make some form of agreement."
"And if it's a trap?" Alon spoke up.
"Then we fight and withdraw and remember to keep your Visors down at all times," Dain answered without hesitation with neither Henri nor Tsuna voicing any form of objection hinting that this is not the first time they have done this.
Memento Mori, in Old Terra that's a reminder of Death. The inevitable, but at the same time, it's fitting that I can use that to remind myself that when facing them it's either I die or they will. Alon thought to himself as he mentally prepared himself as they finally landed. It was night time and as soon as Alon stepped out of the Ship and into the ground he--
Vrrr!
Thump!
Alon quickly grabbed his rifle and looked around preparing to shoot anything that catches his eye. Henri giggled as she hopped out and patted him by the helmet and then gestured towards something nearby that both left him in awe and terrified.
A massive quadrupedal metallic creature that is a cross of a Bull and a Moose as they lumbered over them, its golden eyes looked at them as if to study if they are a threat or not.
"What is that?" Alon asked as he kept his eyes focused on it hoping he can make a mental connection with the creature.
"An Ancient, a race of creatures that were formed during the Golden Age of Terra," Henri explained as she walked towards it and gently stroked its leg affectionately as if saying they aren't a threat. It made a series of clicking noises as if trying to communicate with them in response.
"What is it saying?" Alon asked curious at what it saying.
"The language of the Ancients, a long-forgotten language that was used in the Golden Age of Terra," She answered just as mesmerized at it as Alon was. "You should go, Suzaku and Fenrir are waiting."
"Oh right sorry!" He said sprinting off to where they are.
"Try not to get distracted again by those things," Dain lectured him as they sprinted in the darkness. "I understand it's your first time seeing one but remember we're on a mission and for all, we know those could be a trap."
"Yes sir." Alon nodded as they continued sprinting off into the night.
