《Legacy of Earth》Chapter 2 – The First Shot

Alon went into a tool shed in one of the rooms as the Pilot, who later identifies himself as Tsuna Takamori, remained outside watching the Orthoses wait for Alon's response. It was clear that despite the Officer's threats compliance will only lead to their deaths which is why the best option Alon has is to fight back. His Father's room contains a pair of old rifles that was reserved solely for self-defence or for any wild animals making their way into the farm.
"Will this help?" Alon asked as he handed him one of the Rifles and began loading the other one.
"A little old and probably won't make a dent against their armour, but could wound then if you hit the right spots," Tsuna said as Alon handed him more rounds. "I just want to clarify are you sure you want to do this?"
"Even if they spare us, there's still a chance we'll be under surveillance which also means I won't be able to apply for the Pilot Academy anymore so there's not much of a choice." Alon shrugged as he looked at his watch, he only has one minute and thirty seconds before they start shooting. "Help me save my family and I'll not only help you get out but also escape."
Tsuna paused for a moment but finished loading the other rifle and pulled out a smoke grenade with his extra hand. "Alright on three." He said pulling the pin off the grenade but still holding it in for a few moments.
"Three!" He threw the grenade through the window and the moment the smoke grenade set off, the two sprinted out of the house with Tsuna began to open fire on the Soldiers while Alon threw a second grenade and fired his rifle as well knocking down one of the soldiers and stole his rifle and began to fire towards one of the Soldiers by the foot throwing him off balance.
The plan was to not directly fight them but rather distract them long enough for Alon to buy time to be able to let his family escape safely. It was clear that neither of them are capable enough to take them on one by one.
Although the plan was going well with the others concentrating their fire on the house where Tsuna was still there trading shots with them. Alon felt immense pain shoot up at his back and then through his stomach as he was freeing his sister.
"Alon!" Marina cried both in fear and relief as she saw him kneel on the ground.
"Just get to one of the trucks!" Alon shouted at her as their mother helped them up while their father stole one of the rifles used there. Alon saw his father about to approach him as he struggled to stand up.
"Go now," Alon hissed in pain as he grabbed the rifle as his father looked at him reluctantly but eventually ran towards a nearby truck where Marina and their mother managed to steal it. This left Alon to grab the rifle and face the one who shot him which was the leader of the Orthoses who aimed her pistol at Alon.

"That's brave but also stupid." She said as she fired another round at Alon causing him to cry out in pain as another bullet made its way towards his leg.
"That's me, bravely stupid," Alon said gritting through the pain, he tried to stand up and lean on his good leg but the pain was too strong that he wanted to lie on the ground and curl into a ball.
"Well that will be your undoing," She said walking closer to Alon and aiming her pistol at his forehead and—
Boom!
The ground erupted as something from the sky began to fire at the ground killing some of the soldiers and throwing Alon towards the ground with a painful Thud! Hitting the gunshot wound on his back and nearly broke his back in the process.
"Son of a bitch! What is it this time?" Alon muttered this time getting agitated and quietly regretting saving Tsuna if the result was getting shot twice and thrown like a doll to the ground while the family home and farm were burned and shot up from the sky.
He tried to stand up but his vision was blurry and every attempt to stand up would only cause him to double over and become nauseous, from the smoke he saw Tsuna running towards him with an urgent look on his face and what appears to be a modified military gunship landing at the centre.
Tsuna tried to say something but his voice sounded distant like he was calling out to him inside a cave. Alon tried to ask for his family's whereabouts but it sounded like he was mumbling like a baby as Tsuna carried him up and began to make their way towards the gunship, he heard Tsuna yell something to someone inside and not long after two other soldiers wearing the same outfit as Tsuna ran out into the field while another pulled out a stretcher and began to place Alon there.
[Legacy of Earth]
Alon woke up immediately feeling the pain from earlier but this time amplified, he had read it somewhere that adrenaline often allows someone to negate the pain their body feels. It made much more sense that getting shot twice and then thrown to the side was much more painful than expected especially when someone has little to no combat experience.
He heard the distant voice of Marina trying to call to someone as Alon opened his eyes and found her standing by his bedside as he was laying down on a hospital bed inside a white room.
Not long after their parents and Tsuna and another Soldier in the same uniform as he entered the room. By then his vision finally cleared up and she looked terrible, not as terrible as he was of course but still terrible, anti bruising patches were placed all over Marina's face and a visible bruise on her neck indicated that she was strangled while their father walked with a limp indicating that he too was shot by the leg and struggled to walk, their mother, on the other hand, had way more bruises on her faces unlike Marina and a visible burn mark on her face.

"I'm sorry…" Alon sobbed it was clear that they all went through something horrible because of him, not only were they possibly tortured but they had also lost their home all because he wanted to help someone out of kindness. A very brutal case of no good deed goes unpunished. It's all my fault, Alon thought as he avoided their gaze out of guilt and shame as he hung his head low.
"You were at the wrong place at the wrong time," His father shook his head and held his hand reassuringly. "And you did what you had to do to save us."
"Wait, where are we?" Alon asked looking around and then both his Father and Tsuna exchanged looks as Tsuna walked towards him, Alon can see from the look on his face that he was trying to piece together the right words to tell him.
"What happened?"
"What do you last remember?" Tsuna said as Marina stood up and took a seat as he faced him. Alon paused trying to recall what happened, he remember getting shot twice and then something exploded throwing him to the ground and nearly breaking his back and—
"You took me to a ship and that's all I remember," Alon said but judging from the way they had reacted it was clear that he was correct. But this place looked far larger and spacious than the one he saw, at least from what he remembered.
"You were wounded so we had no choice but to take you here to one of our ships," Tsuna explained to him standing up again.
"If you've recovered, meet me later at the bridge we need to discuss things regarding your recruitment." He said as he then proceeded to leave the room but the soldier remained with them to likely keep an eye on Alon and his family. This would more or less make us hostages unless I fully join them. Alon thought as he glanced at the Soldier keeping watch, this made Alon wonder what would happen to them should he decline. Will they be killed? Will they be turned into the Authorities? Or will they just be relocated?
He quickly turned to Marina who was sitting next to him with a concerned look on her and their parents. "I'm so sorry are you guys alright?" Alon asked, he felt bad for forgetting that they were standing there with him.
"It's fine, unlike you, none of us was wounded as you are." Marina smiled at him as she stood up and nodded to their parents who went to take their seats nearby while another Person entered the room she was a beautiful woman with beautiful blue eyes behind a pair of glasses and short blonde hair but unlike Tsuna or the other soldiers who wore basic combat armour, she wore a uniform indicating that she wasn't for direct combat.
"So, Alon Akunaga? How are you feeling?" She smiled pushing up her glasses as she read his file. "I can still feel the gunshots and the back pain going away," Alon answered her as he sat up while Marina helped him in the position.
"That's good to hear in that case some rest would be—"
"Are we your hostages?" Alon asked, Marina immediately turned to him with a look of surprise and horror. He knew it was rude but he needed to make things clear, why would they go this far to keep them alive unless they are hostages after all. The Doctor was silent, but he can sense a sudden change in her demeanour from the way she looked at him and the way she tightly gripped the clipboard in her hands.
"Depending on whether or not you choose to join us or not." the Doctor answered with a grim tone in her voice, it didn't take Alon to figure out that there is a high chance that he and his family would end up in body bags if he declines her offer to join them.
"When will I be able to get up and talk to Tsuna about something?" Alon immediately asked, The Doctor gave him a surprised look. He did after all got shot twice and thrown to the side from an explosion, it is unlikely that he'll be able to walk around right away.
"Not right away, but maybe if you rest for a little more you should be able to walk around as long as you don't do anything that will put a strain on your body." She answered flipping through the pages of her clipboard while narrowing her eyes indicating that she was reading through the medical report.
"I guess that rules out torture huh?" Alon joked while Marina gave him a look of disapproval, the doctor on the other hand let out a giggle.
"I don't think so," She teased him setting the clipboard on the table next to him. "I'll be back to determine if you're fit to get out of bed or not, my name is Rachel Weissman if something happens don't hesitate to call me." She finished with a wink as she stepped out of the room.
"You think I have a shot?" Alon said half-jokingly towards Marina who shot him an annoyed look.
"She looks like she's twice your age, I don't think she's the type that prefers younger men." She said, sounding a little bit jealous of his comment.
"I mean it won't hurt to try and find out." Alon joked causing an eye roll from her.

They never called, yet he is here (censored edition)
Introduction:Not every world needs a Summoned Hero, even if it is possible to summon one. No, really! Everywhere, no matter the time, there are always good people who can use glory, power and personal harem themselves. And the one who was summoned? He is just a resource, nothing more… Translation of the original novel by Avada KadavraThe uncensored version is available here.Authors notes:This is just my take on the whole Hero Summoning thing, where a hero happened to survive.Fatal mistake, an error in a well-oiled mechanism that lasted for generations, gave a Hero a tiny chance to decide his own fate. After all, bad guys never expect a Hero to come, yet, the fucker still does.Partially inspired by the series “You summoned the wrong one” by Aitbaev T.A. who was in turn inspired by “Rise of the Shield Hero”.I have to warn you, Aibaev’s work of fiction is pretty out of ordinary, it makes one breath fire, cry until tears turn to blood and laugh to unconsciousness in equal measure.
